Would this work?
1 Attachment(s)
I have some batteries like the ones below.
Would I be able to buy an extra cell and ad it on to these making them 8cells total? Just looking for some cheap xtra power until I go LiPo for my 9L. Thanks. |
I should not know wy not.
Bud if I were you I put two Cells extra on boht packs:D |

I dont think its good if you've already used the packs and put a new cell in them. I have the same packs (got them off ebay) and i was going to do the same but then read it wasnt good.

bud I think it will survive the 52228rpm:D It would schream his ass off :L: |
I seen a pack like what you talking about. I don't remember where. If you have the packs. You just have to add the cell. You could loose some resistance if you changed to a side by side though. If you don't have the packs i could look around and see if i find them for you.

I saw these packs on ebay. There is alot of them on sale!
|
WUT if u put 16v cells, that are really CRAPPY? lol, ones with exremely low numbers likE POWERIZer ones. Woudl it matter then? I bet the batts only pump out about 1v!
|
I would suggest 16 cells on a 9L only for some speedruns. For constant bashing or racing, the 9L will get too hot on 16.
Just my opinion. Keep an eye on the temps. |
The gearing that I am running now is 66/19, and was thinking of going to a 21t pinion. Do you think I should stick with the 19 if I ad the extra cells?
Thanks. |

Well I think if you cells arend to old it won't make that much of a difrence.
And its a cheaper way to ad two more cells then build a compleet new pack;) |
Yeah way cheaper :). I've used my packs for about 6 months lol i think they are a bit old to add a new cell :( oh well lol.
|
If I were you I would just try it.:D
What's the worse that good happen. If it won't work then you get the extra cell off again. |
yeah i guess so. I thought it might hurt the older cells or something? I dont know, i'll just try it when i get my brushless.

Thanks Daf.
Where is a good place for me to buy 2 cells from? |

What I do when I add new cells to an old pack is make sure all the cells I put together are full peaked. If I buy new cells I charge them first and the battery they are going on also. The ideal thing would be to just test the voltage on each cell and make sure they are all charged up the same. Mike has single GP 3300s for sale. They aren't green and yellow in the pic but that doesn't matter much as long as it says GP 3300. You could probably get a 6 pack of the green and yellow off ebay or something. |
How about these ones that Mike sells. Would they work?
Thanks. |
Yes, those should work fine, but ask some of those electric wizzes just to be sure. (mike, serum, dafni and metalman, sorry if i missed you;))
|
Thanks, anyone else have any input?
|
If you really want to add 2 cells, those red GP 3300mAh from Mike should work well.
Just make sure the cells have the same state as your pack when you solder them together (either fully charged or discharged). I would suggest checking the temps on your pack after you charge and use them. If a single cell get's exceptionally hot, you have a problem. DAF |
I started with two, 6 cell GP3300 peak powerflo P/M packs. After a few runs I want more power and I put at each pack one cell. I discharged the 6 cell pack by driving and after that I put the pack on an robitronic discharge equilizer to makte them the same voltage. The extra cell was allready discharged. I soldered it together and charged it at 3A with 8MV/cell. All the cells were after charging the same temperature. The output of power was also higher.

Cool, thanks.
I am ordering the extra cells today. |
