Getting a Stampede - FML parts?

Ive been reading a little about this car, and FML...

my plan is to get the Extended chassi (the 150$ version)
Steel idler gear
Steel diff (but i did see it was out of stock ,ny ideas when it will be availble again?

WIth the extra wide arms, will it be needing the extended CVDs ? (i think yes)

How about some tranny parts from the BL-Stampede? will that take 2-3s lipo and a 4.5t Orion for an example?

Aand finaly, do i realy need to buy a rtr stampede for this?

a list for me,as i am new for this brand and kind of cars(only racing 1/10th buggy normaly)

what parts il be needing if il get loose parts for this one, and where to buyém..

i have a pede, and first off i love it. IMO, theres no reason to do the flm wide arms, and only do the chassis if the smallest jump u hit send it is 30 ft. i think u should get the VXL, it comes standard with the steel tranny. my list of must have upgrades: RPM arms/bearing cariers/caster blocks all around(and maybe toers, i haven't broken one), integy bulk head, integy piggyback shocks, slash body mounts, extra spurs/servo savers, and rear nitro rustler wheels/tires all around (yup, it works, i run them)

Arct1k 01.19.2009 09:57 AM

I have most of the same but a CF chassis - Keep the front bulkhead plastic IMO - Nice to have one sacrificial cheap part!

Buggy front shocks in the rear and revo shocks in the front...

The config in the pics is for a speed project but easy as a basher too!

I've run this with a Castle Neu 1515 1Y 2200 on 4s...

Thomas P 01.19.2009 10:45 AM

Sounds good..can Buggy or "truck" shocks from ex Losi or AE be used on this truck ?

Il think il go for the FLM chassi anyway:lol: i like it. even if im no "bling" man, i realy like it.

Ok, so getting a VXL, and then upgrade the other stuff ya saif...how about the FMLs steeldiff gear?

i can get a Pede for 134$ what does a VXL cost...im no need of a BL motor or ESC; have that @home..

Since i have some LRP sphere esc here @home, do we think it will be enough with 2s lipo and say a 4.5 motor? ok, i can edmit that i would luuuv to run 4-6s on a low turn motor, but some controll would be nice, what da ya think ?

Arct1k 01.19.2009 11:20 AM

With the amount of flm you want I would just by the traxxas bits you need on eBay.

I'm runing a 7l now with is fine but if I was buying a motor now I would buy a medusa 50mm 3300 with a mm.

On the diff I just use the traxxas steel ring diff from the vxl and the steel topgear.

Thomas P 01.19.2009 01:03 PM

Sounds Nice m8, may i ask one more thing..There is no chanse that you can help me with a "More" specefic list on what il be needing besides the flm chassi?

name,link and store.

that would be ACE of ya :):)

lincpimp 01.19.2009 02:12 PM

Hey Thomes, I have a vxl pede roller (no motor, esc, rec, or servo) that I could sell you... It has a brand new body that was never run, the truck has been run maybe 3 times, less than 30mins total. It has the full steel tranny gears and the revo style slipper, so it is about bullet proof for brushless. Let me know if you want some pic or info.

I also have a flm pede chassis, not sure if it is the ext version or not...

Thomas P 01.19.2009 02:41 PM

Lincpimp, il have to get back to you, sounds real nice

Arct1k, what can i say :d...thank YOU!!! EDIT, is that tranny case a must? (or mostly pimp, or is it neccesary ?), bearings and so? just get a full stampede kit ?, no more parts in the tranny?, should i get a rcscrewz kit ?

Other stuff is now sold, so it will be ordred Saturday night or Sunday :P

EDIT2: What rims fits this truck? is it regular 12mm hex rear? ex HPI,RPM, for rears...what kind of fronts does it need?

Thomas P 01.20.2009 10:48 AM

May i ask, thoose -->17mm Hex Wheel Adapters that they offers, im not sure, what rims can be used? since im gonna use the super EX chassi and wide kit, any tip of what can be "cool" ? or is it a waist of money ?

Thomas P 01.20.2009 05:11 PM

550$ for my complete race redy TEK18X today...am i glad or what...Saturday another 550$for my BJ4WE car + a 2wd custommade.. 1100@on a FLM - stampede...so, this wont be any thread that dies..it will be ordred...it will be one of a kind exekt the layout..

Stay tune

A Q:

30 Series rims from Proline, can they be used on this truck? if so, is there anything extra that will be neded to useém ? like HEx or so..

Hingepins, for arms etc, ar they inkluded in this kit? i mean for rear hubs and fron C-hubs etc or do i need to get them loose?

Since i am new on this one..

i have 80A Constant 120A peak 2s 8000mah lipo they are 145mm long will they fit?

Arct1k 01.21.2009 03:04 PM

I actually like the nitro front end caster setup...

Thomas P 01.21.2009 03:23 PM

But about the shocks..is it front around, or just like regular, long-rear | Short in front :)?.

As you can se Arct, i do not know anything about this truck...They have never inspired me , until now :D...

So everything else, that will be needed to get it running, i would be real glad for it.

Best regards Thomas a Traxxas Stampede newbee

Hmm...may ia ask, what is the big diffrence

Arct1k 01.21.2009 03:30 PM

It uses two bearings in the wheel to hold the front wheel on and spins more easily.

Also "beefier"...

Thomas P 01.21.2009 03:51 PM

perfect, mailed the store owner, and hope he can change it :)

Thomas P 01.23.2009 01:05 AM

Can someone help me with this

Wheelbase: Super extended chassi =?

What kind of bodys will fit? E-maxx,T-Maxx,Revo? etc ?

What 30 series rims will fit ? I have some issiues to understand exakt what Proline wrights in the text for thoose rims.

Thomas P 01.26.2009 02:00 PM

30 Series wheels/tires will work just fine. If you keep the stop front end go with 2 pairs of rear wheels, or get front and rear if you convert to the nitro-style spindle setup. I've got 30 series Badlands on my Rustler and they are awesome, very good tires.

Thomas P 01.31.2009 01:19 AM

Ok, sounds nice...mailed and tried to PM T.Arnold about rodlength for steering, but without any succes :(. It seems that i have to build the car first, then order rods..

My Amain order arrives Tuesday (UPS called me yesterday) rc-monster, not sure, maybe this week, then :D:D....Tower still missing, maybe this week, kind of imported my bearingkit is in that one.

Thomas P 01.31.2009 01:31 AM

Q: Did see that they offer 17 and 23mm hex for Stampede...any idea how truggy wheels/rims will look on this car ?

what tire/rim series/size can be used with thoose hex? i mean a 40 series arnt they REAL big?

Unsullied_Spy 01.31.2009 02:53 AM

I'd use Buggy wheels on the Stampede. Truggy wheels and tires will really hard on parts. 40 Series tires are for 1/8th scale only, they're very large and very heavy.

Thomas P 01.31.2009 03:05 AM

Thanx Unsullied :)

Unsullied_Spy 01.31.2009 03:11 AM

No prob. Get the steel output yokes, at least 1 spare diff, a few driveshafts, and plenty of spare stub axles. Traxxas had a good design ~15 years ago but it's a bit weak for modern power and bigger tires.

Thomas P 01.31.2009 03:28 AM

Since i bought the CVDs from rc-monster dont the steel Output Yokes come with that kit?

I got one extra spare VXL diff besides the one that i will mount

"Stub axles"..hmm not sure what this is :(

Unsullied_Spy 01.31.2009 03:39 AM

If you've got the CVDs you should be fine. An extra diff is good to keep handy with large, heavy tires. The stock diff is fine for most use but if you're putting down enough power and/or using large enough tires there are several ways the stock diff can fail. I wouldn't worry about stub axles if you've got the CVDs, The ones that come with the kit should be plenty strong enough.

Thomas P 01.31.2009 03:43 AM

Thanks Unsullied again :D. About the 17 and 23mm hex just a thought, im gonna run the 30 series Dirthawgs and Mashers 2000 only.. :) hopefully they will be a little more gentle to the tranny then bigger other tires ?, or should i stick to "stock regular 2.2 tires"

Thomas P 01.31.2009 04:27 AM

Ohh, i missed, what Ballstuds can be used? regular 4/40 like AE ? any links wold be great to the ones that fit

Arct1k 01.31.2009 11:20 AM

Ahh just saw you 7700KV motor - you want the 4600 or ideally just by a mm and buy a medusa 50mm 3300.

Thomas P 01.31.2009 01:02 PM

Arct1k gonna buy the Medusa 3300 count on it :D the MM 7700 combo will be here @ Tuesday :P

30 series should be fine on parts, I've got 30 series Badlands on my Rustler and all I've broken are stub axles (I'm still on stock stubs).

Thomas P 02.03.2009 11:47 AM

Weeeeeee , Parts arrivet Yesterday ..and aint this a one pice of art...:D:D update soon

EDIT: Missed UPS with 30 min..otherwise i had have allmost every part..Mamba,2.2 tires etc...still left is my tower order..the almost one of the iportend..30 series + rims, 72 cevy and ballbearings..

Thomas P 02.03.2009 04:34 PM

Hmm, maybe i am dumb or so..but i feeling little worried about the mounting...no guide..maybe some of ya guys have one? this will be much easier for me, i wont build it if im not sure..:)

Arct1k 02.03.2009 04:43 PM

Which bit are you worrkied about - you can pretty much follow the traxxas exploded diagrams.

http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...pede_views.htm

The FLM parts just interchange...

Thomas P 02.03.2009 04:47 PM

Ahh, ok, na didnt want to make anything wrong, but this will propably help, thank you so much Arct1k :D:D

Thomas P 02.05.2009 01:41 PM

any ideas, the front casterblock + hingpins, they do not fit, had to drill a 100 of a mm..(they that fit the steeringblock..)

The plastic ones didnt fit at all..sandning, and drilling to makeém fit 80%...

WIll the Orginal traxxas alu fit better? or should i go for plastic casterblock ?
