OFF TOPIC... What Castle engineers do in our spare time

An example of one of the things us Castle engineers do on our off-hours :

Looks neat. Similar in concept to those alarm clocks that display the time via a rapidly swinging row of LEDs. Yours is probably a "tad" more involved/complex though.

Arct1k 01.21.2009 02:30 PM

cool - what rpm does it run at?

Very cool! So, the next version will use 24,756 RGB LEDs?? That would be a 3-Megavoxel display... Sounds like a plan! :mdr:

Nice. All we need now is that 300A 50V or more ESC made for some of the crazy hardcore HV guys out there. A new challange would be a Motor controller capable of at least 600Kw (Basically up to 900V and 700A) for a very high power and up to 30,000rpm AC Induction motor. Must be compact as well.

Planning on an electric F1 car?

900 RPM, or 15 rotations per second.

A race car, but not F1 (If the opportunity is there why not ). It will basically show everyone that electric can and will be faster then gas. It seems that is the one thing most everyone seems to be concerned with. I have found the battery supplier that can provide the cell to handle the demand. Just something to showcase what electrics can accomplish.

Sweet the beginnings of the a real "hologram".

Metallover 01.21.2009 07:48 PM

:surprised:

I wanna see that in person. You say you're in kansas? Do you take tours?

Or at least a video?

AND do I see a ton of lipos in one of the pics?

MTBikerTim 01.21.2009 08:21 PM

That's pretty cool. Do you have any video of it?

Very Cool. When I got into Electrical engineering I went the construction/building path instead of the electronics path. Its too late now for me, but it seems you guys get to have all the fun. I think I might see an electric car in your future if the controllers keep getting better. All you need is a big electric brushless motor, a Castle controller and a steering wheel and you guys are almost there. Keep up the great work.

exactly what i was thinking...
there must be a gold mine there waiting to happen!!
if castle did do that kind of work i'd be saving my butt off to get one to power my real car!!

BrianG 01.25.2009 05:58 PM

If Castle goes that route, I want to invest!
