new zippy lipos

i dont know if any one else has seen this but zippy came out with some new flightmax lipos. i know they have had the flightmax lipos out for a while but they came out with new sizes

they now have 2 , 3, 4, 5, 6cells 5000mah in 20c, 25c, and 30c.

and they are shorter too. only 140mm instead of 150mm or 155mm

lincpimp 01.26.2009 01:40 AM

Damn, those are cheap... Maybe I will have to pick up one and try it out. Thinking that 5000 6s 30c looks tempting. I paid slightly less for a USED fp 4500 30c 6s lipo recently...

jnev 01.26.2009 01:41 AM

You've got to be kidding... a 30C 4s 5000 pack for $80? Thats ridiculous, and I am sure they'll sell like hot cakes if they perform well.

rawfuls 01.26.2009 01:46 AM

Anyone got some cash on their hands? (and be our guinea pig?)
I want some 2S 5000mAh +

No more than 3S though.
:P

Sup Linc, got some extra cash handy? ;)

You know me, I am trying to scare up some extra dough to pick up a hyperion charger... But I may have to blow the wad (oh yeah) on a 5000 6s 30c... I want to see how it does compared to the fp 4500 30c, and the pq 6000 25c 6s lipos I have... Both of those are over 300 new, cough cough...

Even with ems expedited shipping (best way to go with them) it is still under $140 for me... Almost too good to pass up! Plus it will fit in my lst battery tray (actually shorter, but about the same height and width.)

rawfuls 01.26.2009 02:06 AM

So um.. when should we be expecting the nice review you're going to do for us? :P
Within two weeks, right!? :D

Lol, hey, never look at the cons, always the pros.

Pshh, I guess I'm gonna have to toss in the dough too.. We don't want it to get backordered like all the other smoking deals on HobbyCity... Now do we?

So get to it Linc!

Let us know if it rocks or sucks :D

FG101C 01.26.2009 03:20 AM

Somebody buy my Hyper and I'll get a 5s and 4s and test them out.

JERRY2KONE 01.26.2009 04:27 AM

For the money.

For the money those seem to be a really good deal. They did a really nice job packaging them to. I would think that they are going to have a run on them pretty quick now that the word is out with those prices. I already have too many things going money wise right now to be able to arfford them at the moment. I just picked up a 26" HDTV LCD flatpanel multi system TV/monitor for my PC $340. at the PX, and No tax either. Maybe I will try some of those batts out later in Feb after I get all of my other R/C orders in:oh:. I already have like $500 worth of stuff arriving this week.

Oh wait a minute, my birthday is comming up 07/Feb:party:. AND I just got offered a job to. I guess I better get a hint to the wife. She is comming home tonight from California. So linc what ya gettin me for the big 50 day???:rofl::party: I've been a good boy all year to. hu hu hu????

Hi Mike,

I too am looking for an economical battery for my e Revo. However, these packs are 50mm wide. Can fit ?

Regards,
Joe Ling

Woohoo, we've got multiple guinea pigs!

Someone tell me how the 2S's perform.

Looks like I'm gonna have to hop onto the bandwagon, once I get all my dough!

drkros3 01.26.2009 12:39 PM

on friday i well be ordering 2 4cell 5000mah 30c for my rc8.

lincpimp 01.26.2009 01:24 PM

Great, I guess I do not have to order any! Got myself a 610i charger instead..

JERRY2KONE 01.26.2009 06:26 PM

Just what you need.

That is just what you needed linc, another battery charger??? Do you have room on your charing station, or are you selling one of the older ones off?? Anyway it is good to see that someone out there is starting the push to lower the Lipo prices, as this will really force the rest to come on down or loose money due to losses in sales. Finally what we have all been waiting for. I believe that these prices are much more understandable and reasonable and fair to the consumer. Life is good. This will let us put more people in the position of being able to afford running BL. The BL hobby will grow and thrive. Yeeeeaaaaa.

rawfuls 01.26.2009 07:49 PM

UGH.

You still need to buy them Linc!

I bet he probably has like.... 20 chargers, to make up for all his unrun cars.

HAHA, 20 chargers... I only have 4 hyperion 5i, 2 Ice, 1 hyperion 610i, 1 feild lipo charger, 2 prophet plus, and a cheapo duratrax lcd charger. So that is 11 chargers... I did just sell 2 mrc 989s and a hyperion 5i ac/dc though...

It is good to see lipo prices come down. I hope these zippy packs do well. I will give them a try after I hear what the "unwashed masses" have to think about them!

rawfuls 01.26.2009 08:02 PM

What the..
and I thought two chargers were too many, well, 1 now...

I use the 5i chargers to charge individual cells when I am building or fixing packs. Nice to be able to charge em all at once and see the readings at the same time. The 2 ice chargers are for my trakpower, pq and fp packs that I run pair of in the monster trucks. I used to use the 989 chargers to charge anything 5s and up but i had to have a 610i... I did not really need 2 989 chargers, only have 1 5s and 1 6s pack over 3000mah right now.

rawfuls 01.26.2009 08:55 PM

Lucky you....
I'm already turning my brothers room into an RC shop, but every time he comes home, I clean out, polish his desks, move my junk out, into my other brothers room, clean up again, then help set up his room for living again, but shh, don't tell him!

Now, when both of my brothers are home... Well, we'll just say I'll need a bigger room ;)
But I have the essentials, bed, computer, bathroom. :]

Rivermaxx 01.26.2009 09:16 PM

Tell us what motor & esc you intend to run, and what you are hoping to achieve in terms of power and speed, and recommendations will flood in.

Cheap charger? Probably a hyperion 606i, for the price they are excellent. Plenty of similar items on hobbycity though for less, but many of them require a seperate powersupply.

I'm pretty sure the guy that edited the first post in this thread would rather that if we are going to buy batteries elsewhere not to post links on his forum. Just a heads up.

Rivermaxx 01.26.2009 09:36 PM

Probably a mmm 2200kv combo on a gmaxx build with 1/8 diffs. I was thinking 2 3s 5000 mah 30c or can I get away with lower 20c or 25c rating? I want it fast what else lol.

oops.....you're right...my bad....:slap: i'll try to edit it myself

JERRY2KONE 01.26.2009 10:36 PM

Mistakes.

Yea it is easy to make a mistake once in a while, and I am sure that Mike understands that, but we should be careful not post up links that driectly compete with RCM products. We all learn from our mistakes hopefully. If these batts turn out to be a good product he might want to consider selling them on here, because they will definitely turn up the volume on sales. I think we should still share results on how well these batteris do after testing. The masses will want to know how they fair for the price.

Sorry if I came off like a jerk, I guess thats just how I am sometimes. Don't get me wrong though I've got 10 zippy packs and I'll probably try some more. I think they are a great bang for the buck as long as your willing to work with shotty craftsmanship once in a while.

cobra198 01.27.2009 12:14 AM

So what exactly is the difference between the old zippy batteries and the new flightmax ones? Just different size options?

(Im lookin into a Lipo battery for my 1/8 scale brushless buggy build w/ MMM combo so just tryin to get some info, and find the best option for my application!)

drkros3 01.27.2009 12:14 AM

oops sorry mike. kinda forgot about the no link to others site rule. it wont happen again.
