What a real 4WD should look like
Never did this before and its actually harder than it looks. I know I could of added more but then again I didnt want to crowd it up. The only decal's are the chevrolet, the k5 blazer and the lower grill. I really hope you guys like this one.

Wow, thats just amazing. If you mount that onto a scale crawler, it will be perfect. Awesome job as always.
|
Nice.I think I used to drive that exact one. :D Great job.
|
Another one that would never see the light of day... :great:
Edit: 3 way tie for first post. lol |
Looks awesome! That would look great on a scaler.
|
Dude, that is freaking amazing. I want one. Just got to find what bodies will fit the Summit. Danged that exo-cage, gotta mess everything up.
|
It's funny how a rustbucket can look so good! I have to admit this is one of my favorites. The details are just amazing!
|
Amazing...
|
Dude your work is insane- the only other body I've ever seen that impressed me like yours was a handlaid fiberglass body a guy did on RCGroups. But this is my problem with having a nice body at all on an RC- it never lasts- this is like taking a canvas that Rembrandt JUST painted and running it over with a tractor. I sincerely hope none of your bodies end up on a running vehicle
That is some serious talent you have :surprised: |
awesome!!!
|
Actually all my bodies end up on running RC and alot of the monster trucks I do end up racing. I kind of have a way of keeping the paint intact and keeping the paint to last. I cant stop the damage that may occure on the outside, but guys I have painted for 2 years ago are still racing the shells I did for them then.

Looks good, now take a scuff pad to the outside to get rid of the shine! Nobody waxes a rusty 1:1 truck...
Messing wit ya, I paint full sized stuff for a living, and can appreciate your attention to detail. God knows I have spent many an hour obsessing about the smallest detail on a shelby cobra, or the silver layout on a new lexus. You must enjoy doing this, it really shows. |
I have to say...this is one of my faves.
great work as always. |
Unreal detail - Another beauty!
|
Wow, just wow..
Dude... that's just.. wow! |
Very cool.
Nice work as usual. I was just sharing this one with my wife and she even said how much it looks like a real 1:1 vehicle. If you did not know that it was an R/C it could probably fool a lot of people. Great job dude.
|
Fantastic detail!! You've got some real talent. Very very nice job.
|
Great work again! I'm with linc on the scuff pad to remove the shine. rust buckets don't shine :P
|
Any of you that think people dont wax a rusty truck have never been to Montana....
GREAT job! I think there are two details missing - a couple dead birds in the grill, and the creased hood - that style of Chev/GMC always had a crease across the hood right where the hinges ended. The springs in the hinge were too stiff, so over time, the hood ended up bent. |
Carcas.

And blood splattered across the windshield..........
Nice attention to detail, definitely one of your finest yet. You could probably sell that on rccrawler.com for a small fortune. Have you ever thought of painting one of the styrene/plastic tamiya bodies? With your skill and attention to detail I don't think it would be a tough transition. |

If it's going to be a shelf queen you could add the deer, but you'll need to crush up the front a bit and others that see it might think you're a sadist  Looks awesome though, what do you plan to put it on (for show)? |
I think all of these are commisions ;-)
With that work Norm you must be queued for months :) |
My teenage daughter would say, "that is beastly" and you have some "mad skills".

as for the blood splattered windshield, he could also jam a scale bicycle under the truck... |
Heres what I got to say :surprised:

Serious attention to detail going on in that latest shell, Im sure the new owner will love it. |
Thanks guys, really I appreciate it and I kinda wish this was for me but its for one of my race team guys for his CR-01. Like i said this was my first shell like this and it took awhile to make sure the rush would look right. i agree on roughing up the shell but then again i have a hard time wanting to do that. I can easily do better but sometimes like I say, too much is way too much. I copied the rusted look from a real 1:1 truck i found on the internet and added the cracks and window myself along with the bad tint job which is just an adhesive tint from a paperstreetplastics on ebay. As far as the dents go Im going to try it on another truck. I just didnt feel like removing the over spray film and risking a bad heat up and then I would be eating a shell. and as for the styrene and plastic jobbies. I wont do them! Im good at the lexan thing and would rather stick to what I know rather then burn my time up on something unfamiliar. But a friend of mine Nick Rummy is sending me the same shell to do for him and well try something a little different and try and go a step further this time. Ohh and yeah I am pretty booked up with jobs, I dont mind taking them if people are willing to book a job and wait but sometimes I get people asking me for paintwork and they never like my prices or the time until I finish. I pride myself on releasing a good product that will last a long time, not a cheap product that results in bad mouthing my work. So I am off to paint another shell here which shold be released in the next few days. stay tuned to the Canadien berzerker a.k.a. Wolverine
|
No offense, but I'll never be buying a shell from you. You said you pride yourself on making a good product that will last a long time, but the way I drive, the second part won't ever happen. It would be a shame to wreck something that nice within 10 seconds of plugging the battery in.
Although, if I ever make a shelf queen, I'll look you up. |
Painting styrene shells isnt so bad- its just like painting a lexan shell, only on the outside! The beauty (as I found) is that if you cock-up, you can just go over the mistake, and start again- 300 grit sandpaper removes all sins...
I kinda prefer painting the outside really, as its much the same as normal painting- do the background first, then onto the details and highlights; working in reverse order like when doing lexan shells is very alien to me. |

Gotta love the one or two tone paint jobs that I can do.
I'll be honest, I suck at painting bodies, just plain suck (I sense and out of context quote coming). I can get one or two tones and that's about it. I may commission the OP for a body once I find out what shells they are going to release for the Summit. They'd better put out a scale looking body for it too, or, or, or, I don't know, but something. It'll be my shelf body. |
One of my favorites so far team3six. Nice work.
I have said it before, and I'll say it again....To me it is kind of an honor to the body to take it out and beat it up. Even on a nice paint job. That is what they were made for, and once mine are thrashed, they make great garage wall decor. I think team3six should be honored to have one of his nice works used hard. Maybe he can tell us what he thinks, but if I were him, I would feel great to see one that I worked hard on, used and bashed hard. That I way I knew someone enjoyed it. I will be ordering one at some point, and will use it with pride. No shelf queens for me. |
f'in beautiful.
