slipper heating issues
 

i find that if i dont keep my slipper screw as tight as possible the slipping causes a tremendous amount of heat to the point where the clutch smokes!

i like the idea of a slipper to cushion the drivetrain. what else have you guys done?

i am running 8xl's +MMM + 6S in my erevo and 4S in my emaxx and similar behavior.
Actually i was running 2 8XL's but smoked one running 6S as i was warned on this forum and have my 2200 castle on order.

Well, you may need to rebuild the slipper since you smoked it. Best method is to set the slipper tight, and then back it off incrementally until it slips too much. Then tighten it a bit and you re good to go. 8xl on 6s must be a beast...

definitely a beast - wheely at ANY throttle point. you cant give it full throttle - spends all its time on the wing. i am sure its going 50+ across the soccer field.
points out how light the revo front end is - need to put some weight up there?

I put a complete new slipper in and same issues need to keep it real tight otherwise the motor overpowers and it slips too much. i am sure if i did in tiny increments i could find the spot. would be nice if there was something a little beefier.

I use a kippster (i think thats what its called) slipper. Its almost identical to the strobe but with some minor differences. I've never had it smoke and it works great.;)

He has a revo.

So do I. But, I'm not to up to date on the eRevo and any of its workings.

A strobe or kipster slipper is for the old emaxx tranny. Revo has the revo spec (not just a clever name) slipper.

Ahh. Yea you won't be getting a strobe on there.

I would tighten it down until it stops slipping and then try loosening it and 1/8 of a turn. And keep on repeating that until you get it to where you want.

You only really want it to be slipping on pavement or other high traction surfaces.

E-MAXX and E-REVO's slippers are designed no good for extreme brushless power. I got mine damaged pretty easily. so I modified it like this and never broke again.

Himalaya, what material did you use?

looks to me like fiberglass brakes from my nitro days
 

this looks like a modified brake disc from a truggy/buggy. Racers Edge among others make these. They are good because they resist fuel unlike the cardboard shoes on some of the 1/8 scale buggies.

Id love to know which one he is using as they come un a bunch of different sizes? then all youd have to do is match up the mounting holes.

Better yet I would pay Himalaya if he would make 4 and send them to me!!!

Looks to me like Garolite G-10, a fiber composite used often to make circuit boards and it has great impact resistance.

MetalMan I have to say you're an expert.
It is the material for PCBs, fiberglass epoxy board, or FR4. I draw it on my computer according to the clutch plate's size and got it machined by a PCB vendor.
