Getting the mod itch

and it needs scratched.. I was thinking about rims and tires.. I have seen some cool *** multi spoke rims but cant seem to locate them. Also been thinking about some suspension upgrades but on the fence about some stuff.

I do a lil track racing for fun here in Iraq and just general bashing around.

Well any ideas on what I can spend some cash on? is there any must haves?

Im currently running a Novak w/lipos everything else stock...

thanks!

mriccucci 02.11.2009 09:09 AM

17mm or 23mm hex adapters will allow for a large variety of wheels to be used. i believe hpi or axial make a multi spoke wheel. 40 series wheels and tired are great for bashing and give a better top speed.

Revo_Troop 02.11.2009 11:54 AM

2 x Team Losi Zombie-Max Monster Truck Tires w/Foam (2) - $24.49

2 x Axial 8 Spoke Oversize Monster Truck Wheel (Black) (2) - $12.25

1 x Traxxas 17mm Wheel Hubs & Nuts (Blue) (4) - $21.49

Thinking about this purchase...will those tires fit that rim I cant confirm it where ever I look I cant find any specs? and the 17MM set up is whats needed to make them fit? thanks!

Personally get a set of badlands on 1/2 offset 17mm wheels for bashing and a set of crimefighter LPR on 1/2 offset 17mm wheels for racing

awe yes I remember those...good choice..Now I understand I can dye them (cause I dont care for the white) but since I in iraq I dont have access to a stove and what not soo any ideas on a alternative method to color them perminantly...

Arct1k 02.11.2009 12:46 PM

You don't really need a stove... Just boiling water... Just take a couple of packets of RIT - Chuck into boiling water with the wheels....

Leave for 20 mins and done... They come in yellow to...

Or if you want and not in hurry I can add onto my next internet order and will dye for you and resend ...

Not in a hurry I'm still tearing up with the stockers..I would greatly appreciate it if you hooked that up... shoot me a PM with payment details and I'll shoot my addy...thanks man!

Curious would I need a hub adapter to run those or will they bolt up to my revo? I'll put the order in for the tires and glue and if need be the hubs again thanks man!

Sorry just double checked - the Jconcepts only work on LPR tires... This is a proline alternative

Revo_Troop 02.11.2009 02:54 PM

Damn I really liked those multi spoke wheels.. Guess I need to find a tire that will work on them as much as I liked the badlands Im sure there is a tire out there that is just as badass that will fit that wheel.....right?

I appreciate all the help man!!

madmaxx 02.11.2009 03:48 PM

+1 I run that setup and love it. I have them on my lst now and also had them on the erevo. Great wheel/tire combo.

Revo_Troop 02.12.2009 05:40 AM

done deal Im ordering them... will I need any adaptprs or anything to make them work?

madmaxx 02.12.2009 01:02 PM

the maximizer's are 17mm hex so it depend's on what you got?

i have two set's of beadlock's, one with badland's and the other with road rage's :yipi:

Arct1k 02.12.2009 01:06 PM

I gave up on beadlocks for my revo - They couldn't survive a Neu 2.5D on 6s

Revo_Troop 02.12.2009 01:21 PM

1 x Pro-Line Premium Blend CA Tire Glue (Medium, 15-20 sec) - $8.49

1 x Traxxas 17mm Wheel Hubs & Nuts (Blue) (4) - $21.49

2 x Pro-Line Badlands MT Monster Truck Tire (2) - $46.98

1 x JConcepts Rulux 1/8th Truck Wheel 1/2" Offset (White) (4) - $17.49

ok this is my final descion...I think...lol

how will this work out? I'm guessing I will have to stretch the tire Im willing to give that a try...where can I read up on the taping of the inner tire because Im having ballooning issues now and expect this will continue...

You'll only have to stretch the tire if you buy the half-ups versus the standard version.

Standard: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXTTD0&P=7
Half-Ups: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXTTD6&P=7

Revo_Troop 02.12.2009 01:45 PM

Nice Skellyo thanks for the heads up looks as though that shouldn't be an issue for me since I have the standard ones chosen.....right?
Im such a newb when it comes to this thanks for the patients!

madmaxx 02.12.2009 01:48 PM

the J concept's rulux 1/2 up's are LPR size and will require the MT sized badland to be stretched on, you will not need to stretch the badland's onto the maximizer's, also you will not need to use CA glue with the beadlock's, they hold. TRUST ME!

flip the tire inside out, clean with rubbing alcohol and apply duct tape to the center (treaded portion) of the inside of the tire....

diff oil's can aid in tire ballooning as well....

Revo_Troop 02.12.2009 02:05 PM

I think Im going to scratch the maximizer and go with this set up--

1 x Pro-Line Premium Blend CA Tire Glue (Medium, 15-20 sec)

2 x Pro-Line Badlands MT Monster Truck Tire (2) -
1 x JConcepts Rulux 1/8th Truck Wheel 1/2" Offset (White) (4)

Looks good to me. I'd use the thin CA instead of the medium. I've found that the medium takes way too long to cure and doesn't make it down between the bead and wheel as easily.

Ill second that medium is no good at all! Use thin ca, you may get a bit on your tire, but just have a paper towel ready to wipe it off!

Revo_Troop 02.12.2009 11:46 PM

thin it is thanks guys! Arct1k we still good for a dye deal?

Arct1k 02.13.2009 07:05 AM

Revo_Troop 02.13.2009 07:19 AM

Arct1k 02.13.2009 07:36 AM
