Hey Rich! Welcome to RC-M! That is going to be a sweet conversion. It looks like you've done a lot of research already. Make sure you post lots of pictures!!!
It's nice to see another NE guy on the forum! |
thanks i have to admit i have spent alot of time looking around the net for answers and what others are using i'll be racing it up at 106 racepark in pembroke NH this year as an E truggy do you race at RCE in mass? our spring fling trophy race is happening on may 23rd would like to see a few more people than last year!
|
I don't race, actually. TBH I didn't know MA had any tracks. Where is this RCE place? I'll check into it.
|
it's in fitchburg mass. theres a couple of guys that come up from RCE (RC excitement BTW) to our annual races and a few guys from maine showed up last year i'm trying to get some friends from vermont to come this year as well!
RCE is racing indoors right now but they have an outdoor track also! good size tracks heated pits and on site hobby shop its a nice place! www.rcexcitement.com 208 bemis rd fitchburg ma 01420 978-342-3374 mar 6-8th indoor offroad winter showdown |

Some new stuff arrived yesrterday! Got my motor mount and my buggy center diff with 46 tooth spur trying to dexide if I should go with 2 battery trays or not? In place of the fuel tank and engine?? any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
|
Hey Truggy racer, welcome!
I also have a Matrix TR, there arent many around tho :( I Am runnin your exact setup, MMM 2200, and 2 2s lipo's If you run dual packs, then 2 trays might be the best bet http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...0309091516.jpg |

I got a buggy center diff with 46 tooth spur for less than 20 bucks off ebay not bad I picked up 2 tekno battery trays and straps as well all I need now is lipos and electronics and of course install it all BTW I'm the only one that races a matrix tr and agree I have put it through the paces and has done well have not broke anything major I've almost had it for a year
|
I have had mine for just over 6 months, i have broken 2 right front a-arms... both due to driver error :)
|
got my tekno trays and straps yesterday getting closer!
|
i pic to start off with more to come in a while no racing yet still got some time!

Lookin' good, what chassis braces are those? I have been looking for some for my matrix :).
Also does the rcm mount work with the buggy spur gear? |
if you don't mind me asking which braces are you refering to? the red chassis brace towards the rear? i'm using gene hickerson front and rear turn buckles and ackerman plate just thought you like to know! the center diff is from a matrix R2 its the plastic case i had no fitment issues at all direct bolt in got it from the bay for under $20 theres one on there right now better thn dealing with the old diff i took it all apart took the grease out and added 10k associated silicone fluid should be better the grease i hope??
like to add i'm using the resivoir shocks 50 AE front and 45 AE rear stays pretty planted at my track hope its the same after the diff oil changes gona have to learn to drive it again been a long winter!!!!!! |
just a side note thunder tiger ST-1 side guards fit the matrix truggy have to make 6 holes in the chassis but well worth having those on there!! also ofna hyper st fit too but i liked how the st-1 guards had a raised portion towards the front of it keeps alot of stuff out kind of a pain to get the steering servo out but not that bad
|
and by chassis braces i meant chassis side guards... sorry about that... how do they fit under the stock body? I have a set of Hyper st mud guards but they are a bit too narrow for my liking.
|
with my stock body the st-1 guards fit tight but works well i'm currently working on a jconcepts kyosho ST-RR body had a few litment issues but i'm working those out the mugen body fits well
|
update: i finnished my new lid today took me 2 days lots of work has a few bleeds and runs here and there but i did all the work and color selection what do you think?
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...rc/rcstuff.jpg |
Looks good!, but why do you have it mounted so far forward?matches the wheels and wing, now you need to de-anodize those camber links
|
it's sits that far forward because of the rear mounting location the body mount is already up against the "bed" section tried to get it further back but couldn't the fit is ok i can deal with it! i used the blue pulls on the body clips to tie the blue stuff in LOL lowered the rear mount also to give it that raked look!
|
I had done the rear body mount mod, but its not needed with the r1 body :)
looks good reguardless |
got a chance to paint your lid? i wanted the r1 body but changed my mind when i found out he wasnt making anymore so i went with the st-rr body instead
|
No, I have not gotten my order from amain... :(
i managed to find one R1 body :) yay jhautz! |
got some new stuff recently and more today! got 2 used reedy lipos 5000 mah 7.4 2s and my hobbywing 150a came in today thing is huge!!! it's mounted on a plate i made where the fuel tank used to be! i moved te motor mount so the motor will be behind the steering servo and took out 1 battery tray gonna run 2 batteries in the same tray should still be a nice set up providing i can figure the ESC out that is has decent instructions at least
