Sound pretty goog for brushed motors. What about a MMM combo with some lipo batteries or a 2.4 gHz radio?

SnoopMaxx 02.24.2009 05:48 PM

That would be AWESOME

The MMM 2200Kv with 6s LiPo and charger...... :yipi:
Itīs on my wish list
(looking over scolder to see where the misses is)

No That is too expensive

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

More picīs uploading right now

mkrusedc 03.10.2009 08:59 PM

Where did those brace come from? Did you make them?

SnoopMaxx 03.11.2009 03:37 PM

From my mind
Yup I made them with a jigsaw, drill press and a few different files

Got a lot more done today (picīs later)

I need to fab a bracket for the center drive shaft before I can test it

And then the Formula Off-road tube body

mkrusedc 03.11.2009 09:35 PM

You've got some mad skills Snoop. keep us posted.

SnoopMaxx 03.12.2009 07:20 PM

Thankīs mkrusedc
Your NeuMaxx is bada$$ :mdr:

Ooh I got my motors RRP slipper and new receiver + box
Daaang thatīs a really small receiver

mkrusedc 03.12.2009 09:49 PM

The 2.4 GHz receivers are tiny. I like anything that is less weight. Also being small gives more placement possibilities.

SnoopMaxx 03.13.2009 05:26 PM

I got the 2216 4ch receiver
Compared to the original, itīs tiny
My FM receivers are the same size as the 2216 27 mhz

I had a little time after work and I finished the extended drive shaft and bracket

ZippyBasher 03.13.2009 07:05 PM

post some pics man, that thing is Loooong. whats the new wheelbase?
Again PICS!!

GOOD WORK!

SnoopMaxx 03.14.2009 04:37 PM

Ooh you want photos

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/HPIM2562.jpg

The WB is 45cm
And the body is just for fun
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/HPIM2558.jpg

I spent all evening today mounting my new motors and the receiver box
I had to rewire the ESC to make everything fit inside

And then I realized that I made the shaft too short
so now I need to make a new extended shaft

SnoopMaxx 03.16.2009 03:17 PM

I was outside testing with front wheel drive when it flipped and I busted the e-clips in a front shock
tried to drive any way and both screws on the pinions loosenīd
and chewed the spur to pieces :o
luckily I got a 54T Mod 1 steel spur ;D

Kcaz25 03.26.2009 07:32 PM

Snoop that is one loooooong Maxx. Can you hear it screaming for brushless? I CAN!:intello::party:

SnoopMaxx 03.27.2009 04:41 AM

I am saving for a MMM
but until then I use brushed motors

New photos later :na:

SnoopMaxx 04.24.2009 04:22 PM

I made a 775 motor mount that centres the motor and I got Mod1 15-16-17T pinions and 49-52-54T spur gears
And I ordered new harder shock springs :intello:

JThiessen 04.24.2009 07:08 PM

That's cool! Looks like a puller truck....keep up the good work!

SnoopMaxx 04.25.2009 05:22 AM

Thankīs
The body is from my puller truck
but this one will have a custom Foff tube body
I just could not resist

I had to see what it looked like with that body on

JERRY2KONE 04.25.2009 06:08 AM

Strange

That is one strange looking Maxx. So how are you making your own driveshafts? And what body is that? I have never seen an R?C 1/10 scale that long before.

SnoopMaxx 04.25.2009 07:22 AM

I donīt think itīs 10th scale more like 1/8 scale

I get my inspiration from full size Icelandic Formula Off-Road and Finish R/C Foff Racing

Take a look at these photos and videos

suicideneil 04.26.2009 05:11 PM

Son of a biznatch, thats what I've wanted to build for my whole R/C life- those Icelandic trucks are awesome, always loved the mentalist attitude and driving.

As it is, I'd like to make a cage like that for my Gmaxx chassis, prefer it to a shell really.

Assume work SnoopMaxx, do you have any pics of the new transmission/motor mount, its obscured in those pics?

SnoopMaxx 04.26.2009 05:40 PM

Neil Thaīt not my Foff
Itīs just to illustrate where I get my inspiration from

Here is the new motor mount I made
:na::na::na:
Sorry you will have to wait a little longer

JERRY2KONE
All will be reviled soon

suicideneil 04.27.2009 07:36 PM

I just figured out what to do with whats left of a 3mm sheet of 6061 I have left lying around... :mdr:

Clever motor mounts- I've seen stock 3906 motor mounts doubled up to flip the motor around before, but thats only about the second I've seen that centers the motor in the chassis.

I wonder if FoFF cold take off in the states much like crawling did, would make for a much more exciting offroad scene (crawling and racing combined)...

SnoopMaxx 04.28.2009 10:31 AM

The motor mount are designed after the 4:1 reduction gears I made for my Clod Buster
and my Tamiya 3 Speed in 1987-88ish
Itīs just a little bigger

I know that there are many 2.2 Foff builds on RCCrawler
(some of them are based on my 2.2 rig)

It would be cool to see more Foff builds in The UK and US
:party::party:

Update on the Tranny modification to mount 3905 steel idler gears in the 3906 tranny
2nd gear Idler is grinded down to 11mm
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...HPIM2609-1.jpg

1st gear idler is 13mm wide, total with on bracket is 38.4mm
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/HPIM2610.jpg

Idler shaft bracket is filed down to 17mm so the idler gears can spin freely
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/HPIM2611.jpg

JERRY2KONE 05.02.2009 09:09 AM

Different.

On one of mine I just took the dremel and removed a few thousanths of an inch off the case where the idler shaft bearing sits. Everything rolls like a charm. I have the RC4WD aluminum tranny 1st & 2nd gears in it as well.

SnoopMaxx 05.03.2009 12:41 PM

Itīs not quite finished yet
It took me 5― hours to weld this one

But I spend 2― weeks researching and drawing
before I started cutting and welding

I think with a little more time and more tubing this thing is gonna look okay

What do you think ?

Ooh can you see witch 1:1 foff my Wraath is based on ?

SnoopMaxx 05.12.2009 04:45 PM

I made a Racing seat for my Foff
How To: Scale Racing seat

redshift 05.13.2009 10:35 PM

Nice cage Snoop!

Looks like you used cored wire, with skills like that you need a TIG

Kcaz25 05.13.2009 11:37 PM

Looking great Snoop! How does the cage attach?

SnoopMaxx 05.14.2009 01:16 AM

Yes I use a no gas cored wire welder
I have used TIG welders at work for years but I donīt have one a home

I donīt know how the cage attaches yet
maybe a bracket from the bulkhead to the cage and in the side as well :oh:

suicideneil 05.14.2009 01:20 PM

Bah, its a minor detail- I would suggest voodoo magic, works for me all the time when I craft up stuff...

SnoopMaxx 05.14.2009 02:06 PM

voodoo magic !!!!
Niel you're killing me :mdr:
