I must be the ONLY one who would know what that meant without you saying it. So did you go down to Burbon? I wanted too.

True. Not to many of us on here from Louisiana though...

Wish I could go down there, but I don't think my truck would appreciate the trip. 4.10s, 3 speed with no overdrive equals 3500rpms at 65 and about 5mpg...:whip:

Take your camera buddy boy......those of us who can't be there need to live vicariously through you!

The wife has camera duties... I tend to not try to photo document things, as you guys may have noticed! It tends to incriminate me later on, never a good thing! I sure the wife will get some pics of the "sights" as she enjoys them almost as much as I!!! I will have to start a special page on the photobucket album.

Twenty? Heck I am 46 and will go. The best way to see it now is from a balconey on Boubon St with your wife. We did that last year. What a blast!!:surprised:

mistercrash 02.24.2009 11:45 AM

Ok I'll bring the wife. I will keep your suggestion in mind for next year. That gives me a year to convince her that it would be a fun trip  I got to see Mardi Gras at least once in my life.

Book early. Those rooms are hard to get. Some of them are booked a year in advance.

He said that he wished he would have come down to Mardi Gras when he was 20. Now that he is married he did not think his wife would let him go.

Just north of that area is an area known as "Central City". After everbody left for Katrina, New Orleans beacme virgin territory for drugs. Several competing gangs moved in to try and be the dominant seller. The National Guard was called in to help police the this area. Because of the politics of race and social class the police and courts could not do the job they needed to so this crap continues.

With close to one million people on the streets of New Orleans partying some things like this are bound to and often happen. Y'all just don't always hear about it. Say a prayer for the victims and at least this time the perps were caught.

So I just got back. Not as busy as I remember, but we did get there early. Turns out my wifes cousin has a sweet courtyard apt with a pool. We had lunch there and saw all the sights before and after. Must have walked 5+ miles today, but it was all good fun. Heard some live music, saw some boobs, drank some alcohol. Not bad considering the sun was up!!! We were on bourbon st while the parades were running, so that is most likely why it was not too crowded.

Its sad to hear about things like that......when I was living in the Seattle area in the city of Kirkland back in the 80s they had Moss Bay Days and it was crazy with a lot of people with open containers walking the streets, the cops really couldnt do anything, than once a drunk driver hit a cop car with the cop in the car....that ended the fun........
