Dead mamba max esc ?
I was overheated my motor and my mamba max esc today both over 200f + and now when I try it it seem to cogging alot when I push on the gas throttle and when I run it for maybe only 5 sec the esc get hot very very fast for nothing ... but not the motor or the batteries ...
If the motor got that hot, then the magnets inside it probably lost their strength. When this happens, the motor basically becomes a short circuit. The MM got hot because it was sending power into this short circuit. I don't know if CC will cover damage due to over-heating. Try running another similar motor in the vehicle (if you have another motor...) and see if the MM still operates correctly. If it does, then I would just bite the bullet and pick up a new motor.
You probably demagged your motor. What's your setup?
it is my 1/8 kyosho st-r truggy.
specs : mamba max esc bec disabled I was using 4 AA rechargeable for now.. kd36 7xl motor ( 2380kv ). 4s lipo 15c 6400mah. 50t spur. 13t pinion. |
It seems like a stable setup. Not over geared, and no off-the-wall motor RPM. Though, I am not the "truggy master" on this forum. Do you race with this truck? How's the drive train as far as binding? The motor was somehow overloaded and that made everything heat up. Any rocks in the spur?
no I dont really know why is heating up I buyed it from someone who have used it only 2 times.. runned it on 12 cells and still heating alot but not like today when I was received my 4s lipo it have going over 200f +
and no I dont racing only playing into my yard.
If it was heating up with the NiMH and then turn to worse with the lipos, I guess the motor was already shot before you even used it.
maybe :sarcastic:
for now someone want to sell me this motor for cheap : http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...3&cat=3&page=1 do you think it can do the job for awhile ? |

You also stated that you use it in your yard. Might be hard to beleive but grass put a huge amount of stress on the electronics. Also the RPM's are a touch on the high side for a truggy, IMO you should have about 2000kv on 4s. My suggestion is to def bite the bullet on the motor. Spend a little more and buy a Medusa or the CC/neu from Mike $140 or less depending on what you choose. The MM should still be fine but don't keep trying to use it with that motor!

it is snowy there not grass :mdr:

since my KB36-7XL was dead ( overheating ) here is my new setup :
Motor : Neu 1515/1.5D/F 2700kv ( 5mm Shaft ) Speed : Mamba Max 1/0 ESC ( Bec Disabled ) Battery : TrueRC 14.8V 6400mAh 15C 4S2P ( 96A Cont. 128A Burst. ) Gearing : 50t Spur - 13 Pinion. how do the runtime would be on this ? and all would run perfect and cooler no overheating problems ? http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/2500/setup.jpg |
Personally I think that is too much of a motor for a poor MM and a 96amp continuous battery... I would look at a 1Y (maybe castle variety) from Mike
what can happen then ?
ton pack va flamber pi ton esc va en arracher:yes:
ok I dont have buy this Neu 2700kv I have Buyed one Neu 1515 2.5D 1700kv Motor I plan run it on TrueRC 4s 15c 6400mah and 50t spur & 17t pinion :
http://img353.imageshack.us/img353/1627/setupg.jpg I would run it soon on bigger diameters tires badland MT so I will get 1 or 2mph more ... how do you like this one ? |
Those batteries aren't enough! You may get buy for a little while with that gearing, that's pretty slow and shouldn't draw to many amps. You really need to save up for a Mamba Moster and a good 5s lipo. I ran a 1515 2.5d on 4s in my revo for awhile, I could get about 35 out of it but I was pushing the batteries pretty hard. As soon as I steped it up to 5s it came alive, 6s was insane! 5s is the best combination of speed, driveability, and cool temps with that motor IMO
E-Revonut : I dont really plan to buy other stuffs soon im just back of buying this motor and this lipo ... what's wrong with this setup ? I can gear it up for a good 35mph...
35 doesn't keep people happy for long and is a bit slow for race use. Biggest problem is your batteries aren't going to hold up!

I dont do race use im only bashing ... so my battery would overheating ?
sorry BrianG :mdr:
lol, it's ok. Just trying to save you the time/hassle of taking a screen shot, uploading it somewhere, and posting the url...
Overheat, puff, and die! 96 amp isn't really adequate IMO. General Concensus around here seems to be a minimum of 120Amps for 1/8 Truggy/MT. Even my 4900mah 25C Neu packs get warm with the same motor in my E-REVO geared for 37 on 5s(105-110*)
which pack brand have you puff with this motor on 4s ?
I didn't puff my packs on 4s and they where MA rated at 120Amps. They did go WAY out of balance though, I know they where MA. I'm not saying that this is definetlly going to happen, but there is a very good chance of it happening to you.
96 amps on 4s is a bit low for a heavier vehicle. In a buggy it would be ok. Best to give it a try, and keep an eye on batt temps... If they get too hot gear it down. A better lipo would help, see my sig if you want a deal on a good 4s pack...
sure I will give it a try I have spend money on this for use it ... anyways here is winter at the moment.. and where I live in Quebec,Canada summer are not really really hot like united states south... the max secure temps for lipo are 160f right ?
I finaly tried it ... all work fine cool batteries , cool motor ... only the speed get some hot.. but not enought to be critical I think mamba max on 4s would need a fan for sure... other then that im happy with this setup
