E-Revo 3.3 conversion/build
 

Hi guys, I got my first big 4x4 truck in a trade not to long ago. I got a revo 3.3 and im going to convert it. I will be using a MMM with a medusa 36-70 on a zippy 5s 5000 lipo. My mom ordered the lipo last night for my birthday present(perps to bring 13-14, get presents!:yipi::lol:) With my birthday money I plan to buy the motor and the RCM mount if I have enough money then the MMM. Anyways, which kv medusa did you buy, as that will determine the correct gearing and voltage you should use.

if you plan to stick with the stock tranny, then Mike (our Lord & Master) sells all you need pretty much to convert the nitro chassi over to electric (motor mount, battery tray etc) then its just a case of deciding whether you want to lock it into 2nd gear and use motor braking via the esc, or keep it 2 speed and use mech brakes.

Thanks! Im going to use the 2000kv one I think and im sticking with the stock trans and using the ESC brakes. Im going to buy the RCM motor mount but i think I will make a battery tray, being 13(14 in 2 weeks) i need to save all the money I can to finish the project. lol

I am in the process of converting a 3.3 as well. What has been said to me many times is that the stock diffs will not hold up long to 5s power, which is what I will be running. Hence, Mike sells hybrid cases which work w/1/8 gears. They are not cheap, but, on 5s I would seriously consider them. If not the hybrid cases, at least AL inner and outer cases w/hardened gears which will reduce flex a lot.

haha, thanks. I have been told the diffs will hold up, I have been told they wont...I guess I will just have to find out when my 5s and electronics come:lol:I will look into aluminum gears and cases but nothing right now, maybe in a month or two though.

magman what motor and esc are you going to be using?

Medusa 70 series 1600kv and a mmm esc. I don't need it to go 50, just be an efficient set up

sweet, im doing the medusa 70series 2000kv on the MMM and 5s lipo. mine will be faster:lol:j/k...according to the speed calculator, I will hit 46mph geared 15/40 and geared 20/40 hit 53, thats fine if not to much for me.

I see your in MA. are you going to the RCM bash this year? Im gonna try and get my mom to take me, if I can we will have to race. lol

I'm doing a Revo right now as well. Almost done. Running twin 4S's in parallel. My buddy's conversion runs just fine with the stock diff.

I have a revo conversion running on 5s with the MMM and Medusa or Neu 1515 1Y. The stock diffs are holding out real well. It all depends on how the diffs are shimmed and how you drive.

being 13 I dont have a lot of cash. You guys think I could use like a nemisis or fiego 7-8xl? I want to get the truck running more than I care about the most high quality stuff

If you are looking at a 8xl, save a little more and get a Medusa. HUGE difference in quality.

To get non-blurry pics you need to use the macro function on your camera. It will look like a flower. That is... If those aren't phone pics...

I would like to add that you only use the macro for close up pictures. At around 2-3' you need to take it back to normal. Hey Oday, Where are those pics?

Nah, looks like a sound layout- not sure about the material for the esc/rc mount, but the locations are fine.

MMM, Medusa 70mm gets my vote. Why pay more when you can use that saved cash and put it towards other things you may need.

ok, being 13 I dont make any money right now, I have to deal with what I got so im getting a fiego 8xl and a MMM. Then this summer when I work im gonna get either a medusa or a neu. This is a good powerful set-up but the motor might run a little hot as fiegos do...

Look for a used medusa. I thought somone was selling one within the past few days. It would Slaughter a fiegao. It wasn't you george?

I will but if I cant find one Im getting a fiego for now. I have seen them perform on 5s lipo, just fine for me! lol

Ok, I ordered a fieago 8xl for now. When I have cash and dont need my mom's card I will buy a medusa and use the fieago in something else. You guys think 17/40 is a good ratio or no?
