Please help!

Ok, about a week ago I went out to my grandpas farm to drive my E-Maxx. It was really dusty, and I think the dust ruined my fan. Now to my question, will the Mamba Monster V3 arm when the fan is broken? If I use compressed air to blow on the fan the esc will arm, but when I only flip the switch nothing happens. No lights and no tones. Is something wrong with the esc or is it just the fan? I'm really upset, and I can't wait 4 weeks for Castle to repair it. Please help.

Dust could have got in the switch - my guess is when you blow on the fan you are making it into a generator and actually reverse powering the brain board - bad idea.

I'd try cutting off the switch and shorting the switch leads.

Will bypassing the switch void the warranty?

But if it was making the fan into a generator the esc wouldn't arm and work though. Right?

It turned out to be the switch. I bypassed it and now it works again.

I would think "dust" in the fan would not ruin it. They are made for off road R/C's and dirt and debris is part of the game.

Yea thats what I was thinking. It would have been BS if I had to send it back, but thanks to Arct1k I won't have to. The switch was one of the thing I would have overlooked.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I hear about all of these issues with the on/off switched, yet mine has come loose and been dragged along the pavement on multiple occasions, and still works flawlessly.

I followed someone elses idea of ditching the stock MMM switch and installing a toggle swtich. I then put on a toggle switch dustproof/waterproof cover, so I'm hoping for no problems in that area.

I cut mine and soldered them together. No problems whatsoever.

I had had to replace both my switch and fan because of dust after about only 5 times dusty run. Castle may start thing something on that.

No problem...

mmm has a bad case they must have to change this design. I dont know why they cover all the heat sink !!!!
this cover causes:
1- kill you self for change the fan because you have to remove the tape, remove the wires, remove the motor leads and open the hole case !!!
2- after you run it on sand you have to open the case then clean about 50 gram of sand.
3- every 3-4 runs you have to pay about $10-$15 for new fan.
4- this case just get things inside

traxxasbasher13 03.15.2009 04:57 PM

I think that Castle should have made the Mamba Monster like the Micro Pro with the fan on the heat sink, outside of the case. This would make it way easier to replace the fan. Another thing would be to make it like the Mamba Max and have the board come out with a couple screws. Those are just my thoughts though.

I got my MMM a few days ago and it looks like my fan is busted already. My MMM reached ~170F because the fan didn't work. I've been running it in a lot of sand so i hope a good cleaning will revive my fan again.

traxxasbasher13 03.16.2009 09:21 PM

I now need a new case and fan. I was bashing up north and I landed hard up-side-down and my case came apart and my fan started to make a weird noise.
