Here is my revo MT/Truggy. Perfect weight distribution....

Tranny is set backwards for the motor to hang forward to hang the weight towards the front. With twin 3's its perfect 50/50. Truck runs 39mph on 3S and after 30min run, the motor is 110-115 and ESC is 101-105. Awesome setup....weighs 9.5lbs exact without batts.

magman 03.16.2009 07:24 PM

Looking good! Are you still running 4wd.? If so, can you snap a pic. of how you mounted the trans.... I am in the process of converting my 3.3 Revo and I am looking for new ideas....

Thanks!:mdr:

jzemaxx 03.16.2009 08:07 PM

Yes 4wd...using emaxx driveshaft.

magman 03.16.2009 08:21 PM

How was mounting it...problematic or simple? I like the idea...it is based on the GR3 chassis, but at a fraction of the cost!

jzemaxx 03.16.2009 10:29 PM

Just made a custom mount under to bolt the trans to on one side and bolted the other side to the factory frame. Took it to the track today...wow. Working on the suspension a little more to tweak some bounce out of it. Since it came out ligther then expected, the suspension was setup for heavier setup.

mopar1994 03.17.2009 07:42 PM

is that the e-revo tranny? did you have to drill new holes in the chassis to mount it? and i would also like to see a pic of the bottom

jzemaxx 03.17.2009 07:49 PM

No...emaxx 3905 transmission.

Pics coming

magman 03.17.2009 07:58 PM

Would this trans. set up work on my Revo chassis?

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...MX07-TR&cat=17

I like your idea a lot and am considering doing this mod.

jzemaxx 03.17.2009 08:11 PM

Probably would, but I like the 3905 trans since it places the motor in the middle

magman 03.17.2009 08:13 PM

I forgot about that....good point.

You can see I run bolts through the frame and the bracket and sandwich the trans in. It won't move not one bit. Ran it at the track yesterday for over 2 hours. Absolutely ran away from a E-revo that was with me at the track with the same basic setup. Its just much lighter on its feet and handles alot better. Also because its a lightweight setup I was able to gear it quite aggressively on lower voltage. Motor, controller and batteries have yet to go over 120. That was over an hour of laps...non-stop, just swap batteries and go. Running 10,000 mah so runtimes are LONG.

magman 03.17.2009 08:23 PM

Did you do any mods to your trans?

jzemaxx 03.17.2009 08:26 PM

nope....the 3905 tranny is brushless ready. So far its bulletproof. Ran it on 5S last night for giggles....57mph on the GPS.

magman 03.17.2009 08:42 PM

Would it handle 6s...because that is what I will be using

jzemaxx 03.17.2009 08:54 PM

No problem....

jzemaxx 03.20.2009 12:05 PM

Ran the revo hard yesterday at the track for almost 1 hour straight and wow. The lap times it put down would have placed me 3rd in the A-main truggy race the week before and was 4 secs faster a lap then the A-main winner in Monster truck, which was btw me...lol. Fastest lap this year in the Outlaw Monster truck MT class was/is 45.25sec, my Revo ran a 41.26 sec lap. I am stoked!!!

magman 03.20.2009 02:39 PM

If you are that happy w/your performance, and you seem to be, as well as weight distribution...which you also seem to be, I will try your set up w/the e-maxx trans in my 3.3 conversion w/ 2 batts. and we shall see what happens.

Thanks for the help and info...much appreciated

Congrats!!! I might very well try your setup too like Magman has stated. I'm glad I asked if the tranny was from Erevo or not :lol:. I can use the TeknoNeu 1515 1 Y I just received back from Neu for repairs after the bearings grenaded :gasp::gasp:.

Thanks for sharing your experience and setup.

Edit: were you running 4 or 5S when you put down those lap times?

magman 03.20.2009 08:34 PM

I ordered the e-max 3905 trans. tonight...I hated to order it piece by piece, but, since traxxas does not sell a complete trans.,.. :whip:...I had no choice.

I look forward to completing this build.....I am anxiously waiting on Mike to finish the hybrid cases, then order the new Tekin 1700kv Truggy combo and BAM done!:yipi:

bonestockta 03.21.2009 01:04 AM

ok jzemaxx tell him that the erevo you beat was also the same guy that built your revo..witch would be me

George16 03.21.2009 09:51 AM

What spur/pinion combo are you using?

2X 3S in parrallel. Have to have LONG runtimes and keep weight down.

Works awesome....motor, ESC and Batts never get hot....

The main key is shave weight where you can. Keep plastic on everything that can take the abuse.

Our 3rd race of the year is today....so we'll see how she does on lap times with long mains. As long as she is under my old truck times consistently, I'll be happy.

bonestockta 03.22.2009 02:24 PM

That's until the MGT shows up ; yeah that would be great but i dont think ebay is selling drivers right now...ohh and just for the record i was still on the podeum with you!!! its all good...

LOL, yeah not bad. We took 1st and 3rd yesterday against some stiff competition.

I was very happy with the Revo. Had the fastest lap of the event with a 41.63sec lap. Faster then truggy and 1/8th buggy...hehe. The truck that heat was on rails. After she broke at the end of the 2nd heat, the camber and toe in were way off and the truck was tough to get around the turns, but still ended up 1st. Blake would have swept 2nd, but had some probs in the middle of the main and limped it home.

Well done! Were you still running 3s in parallel or a different set up.

After hearing your success, it solidifies the decision I made to go this route.

jzemaxx 03.22.2009 05:24 PM

Yes 3s only. The truck simply is the best I have driven so far. Even Blake will probably tell you the balance and driveability is better then even the erevo.

Urgeoner 03.22.2009 05:57 PM

Hey nice looking setup. Wont the 3905 motor mount fit on a gorillamaxx transmission? I already have gorillamaxx transmission and if the 3905 mount would fit then I'll just buy the mount instead of the whole 3905 transmission.

I was going to run 6s, but, may be I will rethink that and drop down to 4 or 5s

I thought the gorilla trans was the Emaxx trans from the 3906 emaxx. I maybe wrong.

Urgeoner 03.22.2009 06:47 PM

upon further inspection:rules: no it wont. disregard my last comment:mdr:

Ya u are correct...3906 trans is gorilla trans. thanks.

Urgeoner 03.22.2009 06:49 PM

is the 3905 trans pretty low center of gravity, you know for the motor and all?

jzemaxx 03.22.2009 06:58 PM

yes its is, and its also a trans that centers the motor. The 3906 trans doesn't center the motor.

bonestockta 03.23.2009 01:55 AM

yeah that setup on 3s is absolutely great .it is so lite ..very responsive and a blast to drive..keep it flying dude ill be right behind you lol!!!

jzemaxx 03.23.2009 03:01 PM

Time to try 4S and run in truggy!!!

bonestockta 03.24.2009 01:22 AM

why not lets go ..huh whats that an erevo in truggy sounds fun lets go!!!

I was saving it for a surprise, but the fastlane adapters can still be got if you know where to look. I got a pair from mikes store, look in the fastlane section, around page 2 or 3 near the bottom. It doesn't have a details button, but you can buy them, not sure how many are left

jzemaxx 03.25.2009 09:27 AM

Well the Revo is on a diet program now, so hope to get it under 9lbs. Going to try to get another 1-2 sec faster lap times with some added gearing and 4S.

bonestockta 03.25.2009 11:06 PM

1-2 secs is a slight under statement isnt it
