GTP looks familiar ?
 Bought RCHippie GTP, who btw is a great guy to deal with. I got to say that he dialed in the car perfect. Doesn't even looked like it was used much either. Anyways, I started with 1512 2y with 51/20 on 6s A123. I had to set the brakes on 20% on the Losi 1/8 esc. Car tracked straight like an arrow. Turned around and dropped in 1515 1.5D with same gearing. :gasp::surprised: The power is insane. I break the tires loose and batteries warm up pretty quick. I'll use this setup in the Bracket dragrace soon. It's gonna be fun.

Nice. Ultra GTP is a great car.

The losi ESC is still kicking butt and the GTP is a power hog. Battery temps were 125F, motor 106F and the ESC 116 after 3 minutes.

Looks awesome.I am running a 1512/1.5D/F on 4s in my GTP and its insane fast.
|
Thank you for the nice words .
|
Actualy I used the photos of rchippie's GTP to put my GTP together a few weeks back.
|
The acceleration is nuts with the 1515 motor and gives the A123's a good workout. I'll just have to drop back to the 1512 for bashing and parkinglot racing. Or I can do the 10s A123 with a new battery tray, for longer run times.

Here's a vid of it running. It's slower on the blacktop. On grainy concrete, I have way more speed.

Looks real fast . It's funny watching someone drive a car you use to own .
|
Looks nice. I need a new body for mine. I was doing some speed runs in a parking lot and the back tires balooned enough for them to grab the rear fender edge and rip the rear part of the body apart.
|
forking fast!!! nice!

Swapped in the LT-10s and stuffed 10s1p A123 in it. Motor is the 1512 1400kv Tekno. The 1515 is just too much for the poor diffs. I smell a RCM slipperential in my near future.

looks sweet. should i put mine back together and give you a fair race some time? i've stepped out of rc for a bit, and recently tried to sell off parts from my yusa, with little hits. i'm thinking about just putting it back together and play with it again.
you guys still racing west side on weekends? |

I took my GTP out last weekend for some test runs and its awesome.I ran 3s with a TE Neu 1512/1.5d and went to 4s and had some real fun.The body vibrates alot at high speed but its pretty easy controling it compared to a 1/10 car. Here are some pics.

Actually we race a bit closer now. 249 and grants road. I blew both diffs today and hit a curb at about 45mph. The car survived, the paint didn't. Would be nice to have somebody else to race against with. You are the only A123 speed demon I know off around this area. |

you guys just need more power and the 1/8th's will handle like crap lol....
its good news its closer now. i need to get a pinion gear or switch to 1 speed, and a radio in it. i sold my 3pks, but now i wish i didn't. other than that, its ready to go. what top speed are you geared to? |

I remember yours endlessly doing 4 wheel burnouts. :gasp: I'm geared for 50mph or so, but it sures comes at you fast. I'm liking the 10s A123 setup, as I peak at 88amps at around 2034Watts. Way more play time now. |

Hey guys I have finished my Carbon Fiber chassis. It came out great. The original chassis is offset to one side so I made the CF chassis symetrical. It was actualy pretty easy I used a jig saw to cut it out and countersank all the screws.I also picked up a Neu 1515.5y/s new for 200.00 bucks.Put a Losi heatsink on it and run it on 3s.Its fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
|
Great job on that chassis man. Makes me wanna have one too.
|
Nice CF chassis! Any idea how much weight it saved? So no problems with fraying /seperation from cutting the CF with the jig saw?
|
I bought a 1507 model Bosch jig saw and the best metal cutting blades I think they are 20tpi.No seperation problems.I got the plate from Dragonplate 1/8 inch 3.17mm 15 layer carbon fiber.I put the smooth side up and the textured side down then finished the bottom with 15 coats of polyurethane sanded with steel wool.At first I tried using my 20 year old BD jig saw and it did overheat the cf that made it seperate. The Bosch jigsaw made the differance that made it possible.I did tester pieces to make sure that it would work before I even started the chassis along with testing countersinks.I am going to do another chassis in SSg 4mm silver graphite next.
As for the weight savings that wasnt realy a issue I wanted a chassis purpose built for electric. Its wider than the original and no extra holes with organized battery mounting holes. |
