Where to get "stuff"

are there any sites similar to limewire or the pirate bay that wont kill my computer. Now that I know my blazing fast download sspeed I'm itching to download crap.........

BrianG 04.17.2009 11:31 PM

There is no such thing as a safe place like that. Whatever you download, always scan for viruses (don't forget to keep up to date on the virus definitions!). What are you looking for? Music? Videos? Programs?

_paralyzed_ 04.17.2009 11:36 PM

Ummm... videos............ahem.......

What's_nitro? 04.17.2009 11:39 PM

I might actually turn on my firewall if I used any of those programs... I use www.mp3search.ru if I only want one song. But it's like $1 for an album since it's already in mp3 format.

BrianG 04.17.2009 11:46 PM

Probably not legal, but I use legalsounds.com for music (ironic isn't it?). Songs are $0.09 each, and they usually have higher quality mp3s (320). Sometimes, I'll go to esnips.com, listen to the song I want, and simply get it out of my browser cache. Probably a bit much for a non computer guy though.

For videos, I found that it wasn't worth the time. Bootlegs are low quality and half the time the movie you think you downloaded is actually a different movie renamed. I'm not even gonna suggest anything for the "other" type of videos you'd want to d/l, but there ARE places where they are free.

BrianG 04.17.2009 11:49 PM

BTW, I renamed the thread so it looks a little better.

Hahaa now it sounds like we're asking for dealer referrals.

brushlessboy16 04.17.2009 11:53 PM

The Pirate bay and other torrent sites.

rawfuls 04.18.2009 12:05 AM

I thought Lincpimp had all the stuff....

ClodMaxx 04.18.2009 12:49 AM

torrents are DEFINITELY the way to go! i mean.... so i've heard. um... yeah. heh.

for movies, check out ipodtvnova (dot) com. you can watch them from your computer - doesn't necessarily need to be loaded to your ipod. but the crap is filtered out immediately - i've never (ahem - i mean, my FRIEND has never) downloaded anything that doesn't work. pretty low file sizes, too. and... i watched a working copy of x-men origins: wolverine 2 weeks ago!

Nek 04.18.2009 01:27 AM

I don't see whats wrong with thepiratebay... As was said Torrents are the ONLY way to go :)

You might want to try mininova.org for more regular stuff like tv shows and movies. Software and more piracy stuff go to piratebay.

Can't go wrong with files that have a lot of seeds and good comments, always read the comments before downloading a file. This will save you a LOT of time and viruses :)

azjc 04.18.2009 01:55 AM

assume any time you go to a site where its a shared download setup you there will be virus's and spayware along with what you want

e-rev project 04.18.2009 11:15 AM

isohunt.com is my favorite. mainly i just type AXXO or FXG those 2 groups do quality work

miniGranis 04.18.2009 03:25 PM

You probably wont find AxxO releases any more, Swedish police picked him up about 2 weeks ago..... Isohunt is great though.

rawfuls 04.18.2009 03:53 PM

Whattttttt
No way.

When did this happen!?

Any new article?

eovnu87435ds 04.18.2009 05:55 PM

Demonoid.com is my favorite torrent site... it has very little problems with viruses, etc. because it is invitation only. check your PM box

Metallover 04.18.2009 06:06 PM

Well you can download stuff off of youtube with special programs so there might be something that could download stuff off of other video websites...

Make sure you have an antivirus. I use antivir, which is free. It works really good for me and whenever It detects a virus it beeps and opens a window where I can deny acess, delete, etc.

Don't get a virus on that new computer!:rules:

rawfuls 04.18.2009 06:12 PM

Kaspersky, or NOD32 are probably the best.
Or AVG for detecting and getting rid of the viruses.

Custom G-Rafix 04.18.2009 06:18 PM

Vuze is a good one

gtxracer 04.18.2009 06:37 PM

mininova

Sucks about Axxo, he put out some good stuff.

Google on Operation carbonite
Seems to still be rumors that axxo is involed though so dont quote me on it.

e-rev project 04.19.2009 03:00 PM

WOW and now the pirate bay guys are going to jail in Sweden; this could get interesting

rawfuls 04.19.2009 03:30 PM

I've found more articles on how it's false, then it is true..
This is interesting...

Arct1k 04.19.2009 05:25 PM

FYI anything you type is logged, searchable/indexable by google etc and IP traceable...

Do you want this thread left?

rawfuls 04.19.2009 05:27 PM

yes.
I do

eovnu87435ds 04.19.2009 05:32 PM

many of these websites also have legal content as well. Not only do pirates use torrent tracking websites, but those who need to distribute their own stuff(linux distros, for example) use torrents as an alternative to posting on a website and having huge amounts of bandwidth for the downloads

eovnu87435ds 04.20.2009 01:19 AM

i found this at www.marcandangel.com

Google for Music, Videos, and Ebooks - Google can be used to conduct a search for almost any file type, including Mp3s, PDFs, and videos. Open web directories are one of the easiest places to quickly find an endless quantity of freely downloadable files. This is an oldie, but it’s a goodie! Why thousands of webmasters incessantly fail to secure their web severs will continue to boggle our minds.

* Examples:
o Find Music: -inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(wma|mp3) “Counting Crows”
o Find Videos: -inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(mpg|wmv) “chapelle”
o Find Ebooks: -inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(pdf|doc) “george orwell 1984″
