Long awaited E-revo pics from beaches of FL! (vids soon to come)

Alright first off, thanks to everybody on this forum for all the help. Dafni gets big props for being the first to make a good design, and being SUPER helpful to everyone (myself included) who was interested in building one. Thanks to mike for getting me setup with the 9920/8xl and all the other small bits at the last minute!

Here are some of the pictures (dont want to kill the 56k'ers)

Thats all for now folks. Videos are being put on rcpics.net right now, should be up soon.

squeeforever 01.15.2006 10:42 PM

a good place is rcpics.net....nice truck by the way!!

R00ST 01.15.2006 10:43 PM

ahh thanks...didnt even think about that at all! I will go try to load them now, see if they will accept them without editing.

rchippie 01.15.2006 10:50 PM

Nice pics

Serum 01.16.2006 02:19 AM

Looks good Roost!, both the pics and the eevo! Poking our eyes out with the weather? ;)

R00ST 01.16.2006 02:20 AM

Hah...well im back home now (1300 miles north of those beaches!) and its a crappy 20 degrees :(

Hmm cant seem to get these videos to upload to rcpics.net

Dafni 01.16.2006 03:08 AM

Nice pics, ROOST. Your Revo looks very nice. I never thought of dying those rims, looks cool.
I bet your chassis is pretty stiff with this skidplate, I always wanted to get one of those.

Looks like a fun spot to drive RCs, looks like you and your buddy had a great time. (I never been to the sea myself)

Too bad your diffs let you down.
Thanks for sharing

DAF

R00ST 01.16.2006 03:30 AM

Thanks dafni. Ya the diff thing was dissapointing, but I did thrash the truck pretty hard tring to find the weak points. I opened up the rear end and found the differentical cup cracked, which is probably why the spider gears got chewed up.

Serum 01.16.2006 01:39 PM

You can email them to me, i can post them for you if you'd like?

R00ST 01.16.2006 02:46 PM

There are only 2 I would really like to have posted up, but the problem is one of them is 288mb, so I dont think i can attatch that to an email.

Serum 01.16.2006 02:48 PM

Hang on..

I will give you a login..

hang on a sec, i will PM you.

dabid 01.16.2006 02:48 PM

RC Pics has a 19mb size limit, takes about 5 minutes for me to upload a vid that size to their site with a cable connection too.

As for the Revo, very cool, nitro one would have been kicked out in five minutes for sure!

R00ST 01.16.2006 02:49 PM

19mb? thats a super small video!

dabid 01.16.2006 03:07 PM

Yeah, it can be, usually when my bro gets done editing a 4-5 min vid, it'll be 50mb at least........the quality gets majorly cut in half.

Serum 01.16.2006 03:09 PM

YGM... once resized or made as a DIVX, 19MB is rather large..

boss 302 01.16.2006 07:13 PM

nice truck ;) looks like you had a lot of fun at the beach.
how fast is it and how many cells were you using

R00ST 01.16.2006 07:28 PM

I havnt GPS'd it yet, but I was running 14/66 on 14 cells. I would estimate it to be high 30's.

squeeforever 01.16.2006 07:59 PM

14/66? seems kinda low huh? im gonna be running me evo on 16 cells on a 8xl/9920 and kind need to know were to start. i was thinking about 16/66 or maybe 18/66....help please!!

R00ST 01.16.2006 08:12 PM

Well keep in mind the size of the tires I was running. If you are running standard size maxx tires expect to bump the pinion at least two teeth. (so yes 16/66 would be a good starting point)

I actually thought I would be geared WAY too low with the 14/66 setup, but actually ran the entire time with that setup as it ran pretty well, and the top speed was plenty fast.

squeeforever 01.16.2006 08:33 PM

what about temps?

R00ST 01.16.2006 08:35 PM

I didnt bring my temp gun with me, but temps seemed just a tad on the hot side. I am not very accurate guessing temps so I wont guess, but the motor was pretty toasty, while the controller wasnt too bad. Hopefully it will all be back together soon and I can do some more testing and have more accurate answers for you.

Dafni 01.17.2006 03:16 AM

I could bet with one or two more teeth on your pinion the motor temps should come down. (even with the mashers, you run an 8XL after all) Give it a try.

slow-stampede 01.17.2006 03:01 PM

I'm running a 9xl with 18 cells and my motor is blazing. I've tried a 14/66 and it was hot shortly, then I went to a 18/66 and it's still burning up, but not as quickly as the 14/66. I think I have to use a fan, there's no way around it.

squeeforever 01.17.2006 03:29 PM

try a 16 and if that doesnt work you might have to go higher than a 18. i have heard of people running 18/66 on a 7xl with 18 cells...

Dafni 01.17.2006 03:30 PM

Slow-pede, I say you are still undergeared! A 9XL should not sweat on 18 cells in your maxx. Try a bigger pinion or smaller spur.

Edit: Squee, that's right. I have heard people run up to 20/51 on a 9XL. I have no experience with the 9XL, but I would say 18/66 is way undergeared.

slow-stampede 01.17.2006 03:32 PM

Whoa, really?! At 18/66 the motor is blazing hot, speedo is pretty hot, and the batteries are warm. Hmmmm, maybe I'll have to go smaller on the spur.

Dafni 01.17.2006 03:34 PM

I hope somebody confirms my info!

Coolhand has a 9XL. Leroy, watyousay?

slow-stampede 01.17.2006 03:36 PM

It's actually a revo...might weigh more, but just for FYI.

squeeforever 01.17.2006 03:47 PM

yea, if im not mistaken leroy runs his on 18 cells with a 22 tooth pinion. although im not sure.

coolhandcountry 01.17.2006 06:26 PM

I have ran the 9xl with a 20 51 mod 1 on 18 cells. It did run warm. I have ran a 7xl on 22 66 gearing on 18 cells to. It also ran warm. I have not problems with running a 9xl on 16 51 gearing 1/8 diffs and 16 cells or 18. I can run the gearing with a 9xl on 12 to 18cells with no heat problems in 90 f temps. no fan.

slow-stampede 01.17.2006 06:32 PM

Really! I'll try 18/54 later on. It's pretty scary fast now with 18/66. Does your speedo run hot at all?

coolhandcountry 01.17.2006 06:52 PM

With the 16 51 no. I even ran the 16 51 gearing in a monster gt convert with a 9xl emaxx tranny and some big huge tires. But I didn't run but 14 cells in that. But I was also running a 7020 bk esc. I run the mod 1 pitch

CrazyPhantom 01.18.2006 12:40 PM

Hey, if you want me to host the video on my site I can do it for ya. just let me know, and we can get into contact.

I wana host it because i wana see it. lol ;)

R00ST 02.04.2006 02:44 AM

Sorry I kinda forgot about this guys!

I will try to get them to work here soon.

brad_2280 11.10.2006 02:12 PM

nice truck, im getting ready to start my own e-revo build. new the the forum and all, just looking up info about BL motors, and batteries. ur pics caught my eye, and gave me an idea, and just wanted to say thanks. i live about 20 mins from the gulf coast, and it never came to me to run my truck on the beach. thanks for the idea, me and my friend are racing on the beach this weekend, and thanks to all of u guys on the forum for all the info on electric, its really fueling my fire to start a e-revo build.

Procharged5.0 11.10.2006 04:35 PM

Welcome to the forum Brad!

neweuser 11.10.2006 05:10 PM

wow, is this an old thread! LOL all the oldies coming out of the wood work!

coolhandcountry 11.10.2006 05:53 PM

Welcome there brad.
I like an electric over a nitro for the power it has.

Serum 11.10.2006 06:23 PM

Yeah, a warm welcome from me too..

Electric is nice..you can drive it almost anywhere without annoying others.

coolhandcountry 11.10.2006 06:30 PM

Well the noise may not bother them rene. But a few stones from the wheels may. :D
