So excited should be here by end of the week.

What's it going in? A CRT.5 or similar? If so, you'll love it on 3s.

boostedg60rado 04.27.2009 04:29 PM

crt.5 on 2s and 3s. what should i gear it for both setups i have about 7 2s packs and will have 2 3s packs.

Anyone with gearing ideas from there setup let me know thanks.

BrianG 04.27.2009 04:35 PM

Depends on what speed you want. I use the 3300 motor/3s lipo with a 14T pinion on stock tires and it's plenty fast (~30MPH) for such a small vehicle off-road.

Arct1k 04.27.2009 04:38 PM

18T for 2s  18T for 3s :gasp: & 18T for 4s :diablo:

I have a question... What if I have a NEU 1509/2D/F on 3s, 15/46 gearing, is this gonna be a good setup too???. The reason I asked is bec. I see more people here having Medusa setup...

On a CRT .5 RCM motor mount conversion.

boostedg60rado 04.27.2009 05:36 PM

18 it is

BrianG 04.27.2009 05:39 PM

Yeah, a 1509 would be great, even better than a Medusa. I think people get Medusa because it is easily attainable and cheap in comparison, yet still on the higher-end of the motor list. The only thing you might want to watch out for is the 15xx series is larger in diameter; ~44mm vs 36mm of a Medusa. So that might limit gearing, not to mention if you decide to keep the mechanical brakes.

boostedg60rado 04.27.2009 10:14 PM

I think i am more excited that i shoulnt snap anymore shafts like i have been on my castle motors being i got the 5mm version.

Cant wait to get it at this point going nuts not having my crt.5 running. All i can say is on 3s my castle creations 5700kv motor was just insane. So hopefully this will be more drivable. Than that. And possably go 4s in the future on it.

hi boostedg60rado,
the motor you just got is what i want, i have searched but where do you buy the pinions for the 5mm shaft, the truck i'm going to buy(thinking) is the hyper st-e.

cheers tony...

Arct1k 04.29.2009 03:11 PM

RC-Monster the best or if you don't want to go intl you could try locally for RRP mod1.0 pinions.

boostedg60rado 04.29.2009 08:26 PM

from what i hear it is a great motor for the money. The pinions just search a mod1 pinion or a mod 1.0 Should be almost everywhere now a days as 1/8 conversions are so popular right now.

stum 04.29.2009 10:02 PM

I'm using the losi 8ight-e pinions, just search for "8ight-e" and your pinion size and you'll get hits.. great price and nice pinions.

Ellwood BL 04.29.2009 10:41 PM

Yeah, I too just ordered the Medusa 36-50-3300kvV2. I am going to use my Mamba Max ESC, just not sure on gearing. I am going to start out with my buddys' 2S lipo. Also not sure whether or not to start with the stock wheels and tires or upgrade to 2.2 truck rims and tires. Trying to keep my temps low on my motor and ESC. Any advice?

stum 04.29.2009 11:46 PM

Well Im using 14t on a 4800kv 50mm medusa and it's pretty perfect, so I would imagine you'll be wanting something more like 16 or 17t on 2s lipo. I can run non-stop w/o heat issues... though I did thermal the MM one time after 2 straight packs racing.. but a fan fixed that right quick :) the ofna 1/12 wheels (sells as a 4pk) is great and cheap (dish) and snag the losi x-3000's buggy tires as they really rock.... enjoy!

boostedg60rado 05.01.2009 07:00 AM

Well guys my question is what to do about the holes on the can of the motor. I dont want dirt and stuff getting in there.

stum 05.01.2009 07:32 AM

I actually cut a peice of duct tape to a 36mm circle and then use a hole punch for the shaft and stick it right on the end bell.. works great. On the front if you have any exposure, you'll want to cover it up as well iMO.

Arct1k 05.01.2009 07:54 AM

High temp alum tape - pm your address and will send you some...

Ellwood BL 05.02.2009 07:53 PM

Hey Artic, can I get in on some of that aluminum tape action also. BTW, I got my RC-Monster extended chassis in and it is exactly as great as many have said on this forum. Kudos to Mike.
