RCM Medusa Motor Heatsink/Clamp

Anybody have some news on these? I have been waiting for this part to make an order. Any help would be appreciatted.

Thanks

rcjmaxx 05.15.2009 12:11 PM

I have the 80mm 2000kv motor in a 16.5 lb monster truck geared 54t spur,16t pinion and 7.5 inch tall tires....crazy power all the way around. I wanted the 1600kv but at the time Mike was out of them. Truck runs great on 4s, but uncontrollable on 6s.

ZippyBasher 05.15.2009 01:35 PM

Dont think that guy read the post right^^ LOL

WE have been waiting for over 2 months for this damn thing. Seems Mike dropped everything else for the slipperential.

Come On Mike, Updates Please!

mambarustler 05.16.2009 12:16 PM

this is all?

FG101C 05.16.2009 01:07 PM

The heatsink/clamp Mike currently sells works well, using one on my Medusa.

The new ones will be sized for the MedUsa motors and will have covers or plugs for the cooling holes.

RC-Monster Mike 05.18.2009 11:45 AM

The heatsinks are a custom extrusion - I have already laid out $thousands on the extrusion die and material. I am waiting for the heat sinks to arrive just like you guys - trust me...I want to sell them to hopefully make some money back! The 1st sample was incorrect, so the die had to be reworked. It is getting close. :)

Unsullied_Spy 05.18.2009 11:02 PM

Sounds good! I'm in for 3 of them when they come out.

mambarustler 05.22.2009 10:53 AM

Ill be making an order for my crt.5 as soon as they are ready, thanks for the news mike.

enlighten 06.03.2009 07:01 AM

I'm waiting on these too!

*** Will the revised Heatsink/Clamp with Endbell cover also serve as a front cover? ***

Or will we need to add the separate front motor cover?

Cheers.

Arct1k 06.03.2009 08:36 AM

It is extruded with a bolt on front and rear cover... will cover up all holes

enlighten 06.03.2009 05:27 PM

Great! Thanks Arct1k.

I'll keep checking in here. Look forward to ordering.

Cheers.

enlighten 06.04.2009 04:35 PM

Forgot to ask...

How's everyone sealing the case where the motor leads exit? That seems to be a sizeable opening for dust and dirt to enter too.

Is silicon sealant ok?

Cheers.

Arct1k 06.04.2009 04:38 PM

Works ok - I've done that in the past with CM36's

suicideneil 06.04.2009 06:55 PM

Or electrical tape/ foil tape works too.

MTBikerTim 06.04.2009 07:43 PM

I think the XL heatsinks are also out of stock. So at least for me the standard one is not an option. I have already destroyed one medusa due to the motor coming apart so I am not running the replacement until I get the clamp. The Medusa clamp is sounding nice though. Can't wait to get my hands on it so I can run the medusa again cause it did run really nice.

enlighten 06.05.2009 02:03 AM

Thanks! Easy then. I'll probably give the silicone sealant a go.

I've received my Medusa and from everyone's comments on the forum I'm holding off installing it until I have the motor clamp/cover as well.

Can't wait to get it up and running though!

Any update at all on the ETA? Don't mean to be pushy! Just wondering :)

MTBikerTim 06.09.2009 07:17 PM

Lol after saying I wouldn't I installed the medusa on the weekend. The feigao was getting hot so i chucked on the medusa. I wasn't jumping or racing though and won't be until i have some form of clamp on it. I was just doing some drifting on the road in the raid. New single speed works much nicer the the two speed.

MTBikerTim 06.16.2009 07:35 PM

Any more news on this? i'm impatient.

mambarustler 06.29.2009 08:34 AM

Anything new ? am kind of......

kazuaki 07.10.2009 03:30 PM

What's the word on this?

whitrzac 07.11.2009 08:57 PM

+1 my medusa is colecting dust...

mambarustler 07.12.2009 12:19 AM

Tell me about it my slash keeps starring at me

enlighten 08.13.2009 05:14 AM

I'm keen on updated info as well!

My CRT.5 is waiting on one.

Any news ???

mambarustler 08.13.2009 02:14 PM

Mike wont be getting any more Medusas in stock, they have gone out of business- see the Medusa subforum for details.

mambarustler 08.14.2009 01:57 PM

Darn it... What am I going to do with my slash and crt.5 now?

Eric G 08.14.2009 02:13 PM

They still have some version 1's. I just ordered one yesterday.

mambarustler 08.14.2009 03:18 PM

yeah i saw that, but I guess i just have to go with a different motor brand

Finnster 08.18.2009 12:26 PM

updates...? no clamps in stock at all

mambarustler 08.21.2009 03:46 PM

Mike, as medusa has run out of buisness does that mean you will not produce these clamps now?

nitrostarter 08.21.2009 04:00 PM

I'm pretty sure the clamps he's making will be more universal fitting so they will apply to other motors as well.

enlighten 08.30.2009 05:33 AM

Hey is there ANY info on these???

Are they still in the works?

Any idea of an ETA?

Cheers.

simplechamp 09.03.2009 07:03 PM

I'm also ready to buy an "L" size one, preferably blue (silver OK too), whenever they are available again.

MTBikerTim 09.22.2009 09:25 PM

I'm digging this up again. Please Mike are these clamps still going to be produced and if not when will the normal clamps be back in stock?

RC-Monster Mike 09.23.2009 08:33 AM

These should be available by this time next week. :)

enlighten 09.23.2009 08:57 AM

AWESOME!!! :yipi:

Thanks for the word Mike!

Cheers :mdr:

Mike,

Since Medusa is no longer involved in the Hobby, do you know if anyone will be taking over that part of the company? A dedicated RC-Monster motor would be nice , along with the heat sink.clamp you know :intello:. Plus they are already blue.

Surely if mike made the motors they wouldn't need the clamp in the first place.

Thanks for the info Mike. Can't wait as I really don't want to race my medusa powered savage until the motor is clamped especially since i can't get another one now if it fails again. Also no other decent motor that i know will fit.

ZippyBasher 10.07.2009 05:41 PM

Hey Mike, Whats up? What is the word on these?
