Servo problems?

My new servo has a problem, i plugged it into the reciever and tried to turn on my evx, so it has power, when i turn it on, the servo turns to full left, than once i turn on my transmitter, the servo makes a little jiggle sound and doesnt turn, it just stays in its spot, any ideas what the problem is? thanks.

Did you connect it to the 2nd or 1st channel?

Sylvester 01.21.2006 12:30 PM

1st channel.

captain harlock 01.21.2006 12:32 PM

What about the way you have connected it? probably you reversed the servo jumper to the other side?

Sylvester 01.21.2006 12:34 PM

No, i tried both ways, in the 1st channel, it doesnt make a difference, it still does the same thing.

squeeforever 01.21.2006 12:37 PM

try turning on your radio first?? or maybe you dont have enough juice in that batteries??

captain harlock 01.21.2006 12:37 PM

What about the EVX? esc sometimes affects the servo performance.

squeeforever 01.21.2006 12:42 PM

bad internal bec? try a reciever pack in the 3rd channel.

Sylvester 01.21.2006 01:13 PM

Ok guys, i think the servo isnt good, i tried a different servo and it works just fine, i took apart the servo, and it seems as if it is forced to turn to the left, is my servo broken or what? Its brand new! *by the way this is a BMS-660MG Super Strong Standard Size Servo w/ Heat Sink JR/Hitec*

captain harlock 01.21.2006 01:42 PM

I guess a shorting in the circuit is the reason or the servo's motor is damaged. Are you using the Futaba HRS receiver by any chance?

Sylvester 01.21.2006 01:45 PM

Nope, im using a stock traxxas TQ3 system. Its damaged straight from the box? Hmmmm.....

captain harlock 01.21.2006 01:48 PM

Hmmmmm......send it back to Mike.

Sylvester 01.21.2006 01:49 PM

I might, i just have to see if i can fix it, or if mike can help me somhow....

Sylvester 01.21.2006 02:50 PM

How would i be able to fix the servo>? all the gears look fine, the motor spins, its just it wont center, it just turns to the one side and stays there, why? A short i assume?

mmdooley 01.21.2006 07:30 PM

I am having the same problem with my JR650m. I think it's because the battery is low? It was working fine when I tore down my truck. or we are having the same problem out of 2 different servo's, one new and one used. Hmmmm.

Sylvester 01.21.2006 07:43 PM

My batts are fully charged, i think the servos are acting up.....

mmdooley 01.21.2006 07:48 PM

Can they be fixed??

Sylvester 01.21.2006 07:49 PM

We'll have to wait for mike or someone else to tell us... i think they can.

mmdooley 01.21.2006 07:54 PM

Thats good because mine is like yours .All gears are in good shape and I can't see anything wrong.

Sylvester 01.21.2006 07:55 PM

Yeah, everythings intact, seems fine, maybe somthings messed up in them, any help people?

squeeforever 01.21.2006 08:41 PM

i fried a 630mg (same thing just no heatsink). was there any smoke? burnt smell? warpt plastic? all wires in there intact? when i fried mine it happend when i plugged it in. the motor got RED hot and warped a spot on the case and made a black mark on the circuit board. i think it had something to do with the endpoints in the radio not being set or something.

Sylvester 01.21.2006 08:48 PM

It didnt get hot, nothing warped, no burnt smell, all wires intact, this sucks, i wonder why it happened in a brand new servo?:(

captain harlock 01.21.2006 09:05 PM

Is it a digital servo?

Sylvester 01.21.2006 09:07 PM

im not sure, i dont think it is though.

Sylvester 01.21.2006 09:31 PM

here is a vid of it trying to move, right after i turn the power on. **EDIT** heres the link to the vid... http://www.rcpics.net/img/72208

captain harlock 01.21.2006 09:31 PM

I think if you use a digital servo with a standard receiver it will become berserk. I'm sure, however, that the HRS receivers will destroy a standard type servo.

captain harlock 01.21.2006 09:35 PM

I see no vid, pal.

Sylvester 01.21.2006 09:37 PM

here it is with one gear off and turned on. http://www.rcpics.net/img/72210

coolhandcountry 01.21.2006 09:46 PM

I had this problem to. It was the circuit board bad. I took it apart and turn the signal part of it and it kept running left. I pitched mine and bought some other brand. I don't run the blue bird no more.

Sylvester 01.21.2006 09:48 PM

well, i dont think this is very good, do these servos have any type of warranty, its brand new.

Sylvester 01.21.2006 10:02 PM

@ CHC , can it be fixed?
