Tires Ballooning Fix ?
I tried to duct tape my 2.2 badlands and my 2.2 axial rock lizards and still ballooning alot if not like without tape... this fix dont work ?
|
Just to be clear here...
You flipped the tires inside out and went around them about twice with duct tape? I have done this several times and it seems to work good for me. |
Correct, tape the inside. You should also clean the rubber of all debris and releasing agents and then tape them.
I haven't had a problem yet. |
Also try fiber tape, even stronger then duct tape.
|
Yes I doing it twice.
|
take the tires off and see if the duct tape came lose.
|
Duct tape has a tendency to shrink if stretched tight when applying. I have not done this yet but to me a good filament tape that uses fiberglass strands would be the best bet.
|
...try the Kyosho (better) or the Tamiya 'aluminium tape used for body fixes or heat guarding or whatever...Should have a small roll at your LHS...works great, IMHO better than duct tape too...pliable so as to hold a shape but the fibers work great at keeping it all together...pretty sticky too...one full loop with 1 or 2 cms overlap and you're good to go...
|
Packing tape with glass fibre strands. Very strong, I used them to tape my mulchers, and they don't balloon when I was running a 6S 1700kV truggy setup.
|
I have this on my hands do you think it will better then the grey duct tape ?

Somebody on the Traxxas forum has done this mod and claims to have had great succes with it:
He used phaltlines on his E Revo BE, in these tires there are two grooves, he turned kevlar strings in those grooves a few times untill they're almost filled up, and then let some CA glue soak in there. |
hmm I tried the tape mentioned up and work fine no more ballooning on my badlands 2.2 dont know why the grey duct tape dont hold it up fine :\

Duct tape is questionable at best. Just my 2cents. |
yea, you gotta make sure your cleaning the inside of the tire with some sorta soap. i use denat. alcohol. then wipe dry with lint free towel. i found that gorilla duct tape is the best. ive tried the 3m strapping tape with string fiber but the gorilla duct tape last longer. but i think its heavier though.
and instead of wrapping tape twice...once is good enough. but make sure you overlap the end with 1 inch of tape. make sure you have the tape spot on in the middle and press down on the tape every few inches while your taping around the tire. |
Packing tape with glass fibre strands.
where I can get this ? the tuck tape dont have last to long ... |

There has to be some kind of department store or office supply store near you, either will have the reinforced packing tape, otherwise the internet is your friend!
|
Exactly, You can get the tape via the internet at the office supply stores
|
I found that gorrila glue duc tape works ok unless you "free spin the wheels", like if you turn too hard while bashing and you start to roll the vehicle and the free wheels rev up thats the only time I've had the tape fail, but by that time the foam in the tire had also ripped, speaking of which anyone know where to buy JUSt the PL Badlands mt foam?
