Nice pics. At my local HS I saw the 1/16 slash this past weekend, but I missed seeing the Revo by 10 min.

perfect comparison size shots. thanks!

Frozen72 06.22.2009 07:54 PM

Thanks. That just confirmed my want of a 1/12 over the Revo VXL that much more. I'm not 100% sure that I'm getting a Hyper STe before I get a E Revo VXL 1/16.

Did you mean "not" or "now"?

I would get an STe before the E-Revo VXL, but then I would also get the E-Revo VXL.

I meant to put now. My bad...

rootar 06.22.2009 11:11 PM

so what do you like better that .5 you got from me or the mini revo?

kulangflow 06.23.2009 01:39 AM

Definitely the .5. Thanks again for the great deal!

Just saw one of these in the hobby shop today and they are soooo cool! I can't wait to get one :mdr:

I just GPS'd it on a 3s Zippy 1600 pack with the 23t pinion: 47.6mph. Not bad!

I EagleTree'd the run too. I'll upload the data in a bit.

man, I want mine to hurry and come! Tower still has then backordered

I was doing speed runs for most of it. I did some full throttle grass running toward the end, which is what really brought the high amps and the temps up on the motor. The battery still had life in it, but I was ready to come in after about 20 minutes because of the heat.

lincpimp 06.23.2009 04:04 PM

Hows the truck holding up? Are the diffs still smooth after some good 3s runs?

kulangflow 06.23.2009 04:08 PM

I did a bit of analysis on the Eagle Tree data.

This Zippy pack is rated 20C-30C, 1600 mAh.

At data points where the current was 32A (20C) the voltage points averaged out to 3.6V/cell.

At data points where the current was 48A (30C) the voltage points averaged out to 3.4V/cell.

Most of these data points were collected during the latter half of the run where the battery voltage was already dropping from use.

When I get more of these packs in from HobbyCity, I'll be running them in parallel. It looks like I'll have more than enough headroom.

The first day I got it, I broke a diff yoke and an A-arm. I'll attribute those to crappy driving at this point. I haven't broken anything since then. The diffs are smooth and don't seem to be having any issues from anything I've heard.

I've been doing plenty of backflips and the like, so I'm impressed so far with the diffs holding out.

Okay, I tested the stock TRX 1200 pack by itself using the 23T "speed" pinion.

I hammered it the whole time doing full speed passes, wheelies, and full throttle grass runs. Runtime was just over 10 minutes before it slowed down.

In the white Excel graph, the Volt Count indicates how many data points were found at any given Amp value. By this you can see that it is rarely above 30A, and spends most of the time under 15A when used with the stock 6cell NiMH battery alone.

E-Revonut 06.23.2009 09:32 PM

After seeing all these graphs I'm thinking I would like to get an eagle tree. I'd really like to see what my truggy is pulling. What system do you have?

eovnu87435ds 06.24.2009 11:30 PM

Seeing that the revo and the crt.5 are about the same size, which do you think you would do better with in a race? Assuming they would be in the same class?

Are you serious? The .5 will out class the vxl revo in every category! Not to mention the .5 only has to land on the revo once and the revo will be done! Let's say it was a 10 minute race. The .5 has a better chance of lasting durability wise without breaking. Tight turns, the .5 has a true CD and can pivot around a corner with ease vs the tranny in the revo. I'll say this though, the vxl revo opens up indoor off road racing! You don't need a huge area to run these on 6cell Nimh or 2s lipo. That's the only way I'll get one is if they start racing them at the lhs, otherwise it'll be an SC10, after I get an eagle tree setup

Perhaps the pictures are deceiving. The CRT.5 is definitely larger than the mini E-Revo. It almost wouldn't be fair to have them in the same class for the reasons mentioned above.

I prefer the CRT.5, but I'm having a blast with the mini E-Revo as well. I'll be racing both tomorrow night in different classes. Hopefully we can get enough mini E-Revos to have their own class.
