RCM Bash 2009: Pre-Bash BBQ Planning
I am planning to have a BBQ Sat night before the Bash at my parents in law's house. I'd like to begin some planning to figure out a few things so everything is set.
Needs:
Anyone want to make something? Time to show off your skills!
*No underage (or anyage) guys getting drunk and crashing into a ditch afterwards* Obvious, but needs to be said. We need you bitches to marshall on Sunday.
Some of this stuff I have no problem going and getting, such as burgers, dogs and drinks. 5# of sabretts (dogs) is like $16. A reasonable cover charge would prob be the easiest once we figure out the budgets. Esp if more people or friends decide to come at the last minute.
I would like to plan for a bit extra even, possibly to bring for the Bash the next day. Save poor Luciano from running out to McD's again...

The house is a very close drive from the track. Less than 10 min. Literally on the other side of a sm mountain. There is a large deck on 2 acres over looking a state park. Very nice place and plenty of room for people. The track is on the N side of rt 6
on Greycourt Rd across from Goosepond SP, the house is off of Murry drive on the southwest side of Goosepond SP. Stupid Google map will not show dir properly. Try me, else click map and confirm addys. <iframe width="640" height="480" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=205+Greycourt+Ro ad+Chester,+NY+10918&daddr=24+Ayr+Rd,+Chester, +Orange,+New+York+10918&hl=en&geocode=& ;mra=ls&sll=41.34086,-74.225178&sspn=0.067405,0.154324&ie=UTF8&a mp;ll=41.342085,-74.261656&spn=0.061862,0.109863&z=13&o utput=embed"></iframe><br /><small><a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=embed&saddr=205+Greycourt+ Road+Chester,+NY+10918&daddr=24+Ayr+Rd,+Cheste r,+Orange,+New+York+10918&hl=en&geocode=&a mp;mra=ls&sll=41.34086,-74.225178&sspn=0.067405,0.154324&ie=UTF8&a mp;ll=41.342085,-74.261656&spn=0.061862,0.109863&z=13" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">View Larger Map</a></small> Driving directions to 24 Ayr Rd, Chester, NY 10918 3.6 mi – about 10 mins Suggested routes 205 Greycourt Rd Chester, NY 10918 1. pinions, lots of set screws etc:yes: |
Pinions and set screws travel with me at all times(keep a small stash in my van nowadays). I may also stock a couple motor mounts and battery trays as well - just a matter of organizing the van for this purpose. :)
|
Man I wish I could make it. Think I could do a couple laps in my wheelchair?
|
LOL - making the big triple may be difficult, unless you have a brushless/lipo powered wheel chair!

ha! not yet........ |
And to think I already burned my vacation and all I did was sit around the house and go to the track a couple times. Sounds like you guys are going to have an awesome time.
|
Bastards.... :whip:
 Have fun guys.... |
Wish I had planned for it to be so big and organized this year! I can't get Saturday off from work so I will only be able to make it to the actual bash.
Mike - Any spares you might have and can bring for an RC8T would be appreciated! I've been stocking up but haven't gotten everything yet |
LOL I'll put my order in to...
Mike: mind bringing a whole new truck for me as well? Only kidding of course! |
Joe - Don't you feel a cold coming on?

Never know what might happen! It's a small pizza shop that I work at part time and someone else is already going to be gone. Plus I took the follwing Sat off for a wedding and the whole weekend the following week to go to the Watkins Glen NASCAR race.
|
Ben I'll be bringing my spares boxes - inc revo...

just make sure there are enough essential last minute before a heat stuff to go around, as in ducttape, zipties, loctite and WD40... you never know when you need to make a quick and dirty battery strap out of a few zipties
|
Have fun guys:yipi:...possibly next year i'll attend but this year isn't in the cards.

Added to the sticky, but I'll post up here as well.
I looked into campgrounds in the area per chris's request. The closest one is Black Bear Campground in teh nearby town of Florida. Less than 15min to the track. Two night min rental for a cabin. No tents avail tho. Min would be $160 for two nights, but would hold upto 4 (cozy.) There is also a KOA Campground in Newburgh . I would imagine this would be ~30min drive to track. Cabins are pricey, but tent sites are avail from $100 for two nights on up |
So looks like a few people are not going to make it for the overnight trip as hoped for, but I'd still like to do some last minute planning.
Food: Was planning to bring some burgers. Some from a local place and very tasty. We can get some dogs if peope really want. I can get buns and asst stuff as well. Drinks: Can get a a couple 6 packs, and maybe some soda/chips. Prefs? I want a couple things specifically, but BYO is always an option. Sides: The only thing I really need help on and not sure what to get. Ideas? Weather: Chance of T-storms, but everything can be moved inside if need be. Time: I was planning later on acct of the pre-bash, but I should be there anytime in the early afternoon on. Chris said he may drive up, then back down rather than stay in town late. LMK and we can plan something that works for everybody. |
can some one give me the 1020 on whats going on? (besides the bash) cause I read through the tread but no luck on a full explenation.....and I'm only a little under two hours away:yipi:

RCM Mike said he's coming, Arct1k is coming, and trying to nail down the rest. Jhautz is drving in that nite but not sure when. Someone maybe coming with. BB16 (ben) broke his stuff and isn't coming to the bash. E-revonut has to work on sat, but is coming on Sun.... Chris (Arct1k) was planning a pre-bash at dirtrunners maybe, but same probs as above w/ commitments. I think that's kiboshed for now, but if enuf people want and the weather cooporates, perhaps we can do something local on Sat and be close for the BBQ. You are welcome to come up, as is anyone who wants to and is around. The hard part is not that many people are close, and hotels are $$, so it hurt getting more people up there. Any specific ?'s. I thought I was being clear, but maybe not. Hard to tell sometimes. Fire away and let's try to get things answered. |
Me and Edumakated will probably be rolling into town around 6pm or so. If it still goin on by then we are planning to swing by and hang for a while.
|
OH, since I can't go back and edit the OP, since this is scaled down from the original planning (as a number couldn't make it)
To be clear, I'll bring all the burgers and buns etc, some beers, & sodas & chips. If anyone could help out with some sides or at leat ideas for sides that would be great. Feel free to bring anything else you like as well. Don't worry about cover charges or anything like that (was only if a big group decided to come and no BYO.) That bits a bit confusing, if only I could edit... |

Are you guy's going to be doing any bashing on Saturday? cause some of us believe in going to church on Sunday..............(not pointing fingers, just say'in) |
Well Chris and I talked a bit. I know he wanted to go crawling, and I have a basher nitro savage I may bring. I might do some bashing, but people were a bit wary of doing something stupid and breaking their truck the day before the bash lol.
The house is on 2 acres, and there are parks and woods nearby. Unfort the track is closed Sat tho. REally its up to whatever people want to do. |
