Its a Schulze Future-L-24.150WK. I thought i would take a photo of it next to my Big Maxximum for a size comparison. It has one huge footprint

BL_RV0 07.08.2009 02:08 PM

squeak...
:surprised:

Krawlin 07.08.2009 05:02 PM

Who makes that motor mount/center diff mount you have? Or is it a 1 off custom setup that you had made?

BL_RV0 07.08.2009 05:26 PM

It's an older version of Mike's CD mount.

Bondonutz 07.08.2009 05:56 PM

Thats gonna be a sweet race rig when completed, excellent job.
Where can I find those Maxximum motors ?

BL_RV0 07.08.2009 06:13 PM

icare-rc.com

Kcaz25 07.08.2009 07:01 PM

I'm pretty speechless!!

1521 or Bigmaxx

:gasp: Slug!! HA!

BL_RV0 07.08.2009 07:16 PM

I'd go w/ the neu just because of the high kv of the BM motor. If the truck was gonna run on a 4s or 5s setup I'd choose the BM.

SV6000 07.08.2009 10:49 PM

I will be running the truck on 8s, and trying to sort out how to put a mechanical break on there some where. I was thinking of mounting four wheel disc brakes like a baja but i dont think it would work

BL_RV0 07.08.2009 10:50 PM

The schulze has no motor brakes?

Yeah the Plettenberg motors are pretty sweet and make great power. I had the regular maxximum in my strr for a while that would wheely like no tomorrow regardless of setup.

The motor and speedy are readily available from www.icare-rc.com Eteinne is great guy and his prices are the best around.

Didn't the maxx run hot? It's 3000kv afterall...

SV6000 07.08.2009 10:57 PM

I have been told that the motor brakes on the Schulze are actually very good, i just dont want to see my speedy go up in flames. This same sort of setup as seen no less than 5 speed controllers let go. 1 Quark monster pro (caught fire and turned to dust) 1 MMM also caught fire and turned to dust, 2 MGM 28025 Z series have glitched and done what they wanted. I quickly turned them off and when i turned them on a small white puff of smoke came out. When i sent the first one in for repair they said one whole phase of phets was gone. And a replacement MMM had a motor wire come out and short on the speed controller whilst doing about 45mph

SV6000 07.08.2009 10:59 PM

No the max geared 16/50 on 4s was unreal. That was my race set up for a season and it the MGM and the bats never got above 40C. The race mains were all 5 mins but when i bashed it for 30mins it was the same. In fact when put the MMM and 1515 1Y in it the setup ran hotter on the same gearing.

SV6000 07.08.2009 11:04 PM

The big Maxximum i have will be going into my strr and so will another of those big ass schulze speed controllers. I swear that thing is huge, say good bye to 1/4 of the chassis and thats before you put the batteries on

feistyacorn 07.09.2009 10:21 AM

:gasp: That diff mount is awesome! I want one! Did Mike actually make that? I see that both chassis have been drilled for that mount. Does that mean that you have another? That is one sweet truck you have!

SV6000 07.09.2009 10:22 AM

No i only have the one mount. The only reason that i have it is because it came with the al chassis. Most of the truck is second hand

lutach 07.09.2009 10:47 AM

You should've went with the 1521/1.5Y for the 8S set up. The 1521/1Y I have in my BPP truggy on 6S is insane and I mainly use 5S2P with it now. I use the 1515/2Y in my Mugen MBX5T with 8S and it's faster then any nitro truggy out there and it's only eared for 34-36mph.

I am still playing with the setup, i would prefer to run 8s but if i get a good response and low temps on 6s i will be quite happy with that.

I only run 6S in my truggy to show off a bit. I use 5S2P for long run times and just to enjoy all the power the set up still provides.

SV6000 07.09.2009 11:33 AM

I still need to get a mechanical brake setup sorted and working before i do any hard testing and driving. I will be at work this week and not be able to look at it until next saturday

Why mechanical brakes?

SV6000 07.09.2009 11:44 AM

Well as you know Lutach i have not had a lot of luck with speed controllers at the moment and if running a mechanical brake helps to save the Schulze speedy why not. I think its more for piece of mind than anything

Your Schulze is based on the 40.160 and I have used mine with with motor brakes ever since I got it. Now the other Schulze like the 18.97 is a different story.

Hey mate,

Been away for awhile, awesome build you got going there!!! Love the turnbuckle motor mount braces on those earlier mounts, look so sweet.

You say youre at work the whole of next week? I'm back for the whole of next week  Looks like we'll just miss our bash... Look forward to seeing the progress!!

jordan

SV6000 07.09.2009 12:14 PM

I was at my LHS today and i told him about your 40.160. I also told him that i should just try it as is and not worry about the brakes, if it smokes warranty. he agreed:neutral:
