Looking for a new Brushless Something.. Thoughts?
After completing my 8ight-t 1.0 conversion i have convinced the wifey to let me get another kit. I do not know what i want tho. she said ok, so im here seeking advice, comments. Whatever i get i will be BL. So far i have my eye on an Lst2, a Buggy of some sort (not sure what kind, Ideals?) or maybe another truggy. Input, thoughts, suggestions? I cant decide, i only run on a track, and club race only.

MBX6T or ST RR.
|
LST 2 with a huge motor on 8s:lol:
|
You have a truggy the 8t is track and bashable...
If you want a pure racer get a Hyper 9e... |
e-revo?
|
If you want a "kit", get the D8 buggy.
|
I would say get a Losi buggy... apart from having new category to have fun with.. if you take both of them to raceday, you will have a lot of spares that are interchangable(is that a word?:) , proven very usefull last time..
friend of mine could not resist, bought a buggy, maybe to race it someday, hit a huuuge jump in very high speed (accidentaly .. you know) and ended with left rear drivetrain completely destroyed... took out .. ehm... like small chainsaw... cut out few parts, took those from buggy and in20minutes was racing again... I will be getting buggy from xray too when I will feel the same urge as you ;) |
i would get a 1/8 truggy. i actually really want to convert a HPI hellfire....
|
Matrix Tr, parts are tough, and lots of parts available for cheap on ebay...
|
Lst2.
|
Mini Hyper STE...
He said he wanted to hit the track up only... might be a fun car to do that... |
If you really want to race and hone your skills get a 2wd 10th scale buggy, like a xxx-cr... Comes as a kit, needs no upgrades and will handle a simple brushless setup, like a sidewinder 4600 on 2s. Plenty of skill required to race, and I am sure your track has that class.
|
i want to stick with 1/8th. i have a line on a LST2 we will see what happens, still looking for more advice, ideals
|
As much as I love my E-LST2's I wouldn't recomend one for a guy who only runs on the track. After driving your 8ight-T you probably will not like the handling of the LST2 ???
Shoot for a Buggy or a another Truggy, if you prefer a kit the D8 is a fine candidate ? My 2cents. |
thanks for all the info guys, looks like im picking up a nice 8ight 1.0 buggy to match my 8ight-t 1.0 tomrw morning. after i sell the nitro stuff off of it ill only have about 150 in a really nice race roller. :) thanks again

you must take my word on this. if you only race at the track you have to get a 1/8 buggy. it is like the ferrari of rc racing. truggies are fun but nowhere near as fast or agile on the track as the buggies. i raced truggies for a year and loved it. helped me learn to drive. then i got my 8 2.0 recently and the difference was night and day. and like the other guy said i would get the 8b 2.0 for interchangable parts. i know it is fun to have a different kit but its better being able to always be running at least something if you break a part on one. whether you get the 8ight or not the 1/8 buggy is a sure win especially for racing. lots of great buggies out there. Tekno just released their conversion kit for the mbx6. they have several other buggy kits too. if you wanted to do a total custom race buggy you could get the odonnel z01. those look sick. kyosho st r. anyway, the list goes on for racing, monster trucks are kinda dumb. they are pure bashers. so if you only go to the track i dont know that i would be considering a monstertruck. anyway, good luck with your choice. |
oh. wow. you replied while i was typing. you read my mind though and took kalbiens advice. very wise choice indeed.

Yeah LOL. After selling off the nitro stuff i will end up paying $100 $125 bucks for an 8ight 1.0 race roller kit, the chassis is only scratched a little. I got so lucky. It came with a OFNA pipe 086 a starter box, dynamite .21 7 port engine, tower pro servos Great thing is my wife likes going to the track with me and we are going to convert this one to Bl just for her (mine really, little does she know). Its great to have 8ight b and t 1.0 kits just for parts interchangablity. Im going to pick up a 69.99 tekno kit jstu becuase its so cheap for a spare chassis. Im then going to move my 8t over to the 8t tekno kit o purchased and put the losi conversion kit on the 8ight until the tekno for it arrives. going to be a great season.

Well looking forward for your experience. I have just Xray XB8 in mail as we speak. I just have to go pick it up and somehow attach batteries to it. Since conversion is supposed to be 1:1 with truggy... than I will write my feelings about driving buggy. First with truggy motor.. ehm it will be probably quite fast...
I just got the best idea... I will drill a hole through batteries and put a two screws throught it. it won't move a bit and it will be really light battery "tray" .. well I hope batteries won't mind little holes (with metal screws that will hold them to metal chassis) :) |
I can guarantee lipo's will not like have any holes drilled through them. That is a good way to kill your cells for sure. Pretty much the same as drilling holes in your head.
