UE forum down

Anyone know what happened?

Bigdumredneck 07.29.2009 12:09 AM

At first I thought it was a hosting or server problem but im beginning to wonder.

.

mkrusedc 07.29.2009 12:16 AM

Chris thinks it was hacked.

JERRY2KONE 07.29.2009 02:48 AM

Down for the count

Yeh I just exchanged emails with Robin, and he said something about the managing company of his site entered a bad command and dumpped the whole site, with an excerpt of things getting worse from there. They are working on the issue now, but no idea how long they might be down.

rc4x4nut 07.29.2009 07:47 AM

Hopefully not much longer. I need more reading material while Im at work....

Kcaz25 07.29.2009 08:35 AM

I was just about to create a similar thread. Dang this bothers me.

sweetride4me 07.29.2009 08:46 AM

Yeah this happens from time to time it seems.... atleast the family can meet in other areas :mdr: How's everyone been for the last 5 days anyway??

mkrusedc 07.29.2009 09:37 AM

Jack said he is going through withdrawal and Chris has been hanging in a Baja forum.

JERRY2KONE 07.29.2009 10:53 AM

Troubles

Me too. I kept checking in on UE and thought that maybe it was from my end, until Robin answered an email to me. I am on vacation in San Francisco using my mother-in-laws PC so I figured it was her PC. I am sure that Robin wants to get things up and back to normal as quickly as possible to. Like stated we always have RCM to keep us in touch with things. I am hoping that UE is back up by the time we return to Korea on Sunday.

sweetride4me 07.29.2009 12:21 PM

I'm hoping it's back up by tonight... lol Withdrawls don't even begin to describe the depression I'm feeling

nitrostarter 07.29.2009 12:35 PM

Man, I didn't realize the UE forum was still around... lol

vlntbydesign 07.29.2009 03:29 PM

man its only been five days??? feels like a month.... hope its up soon.

_paralyzed_ 07.30.2009 02:38 AM

Is he ever going to accept new forum members? I've tried several times to sign up and he never approves my account. I was going to buy a monoblock but he keeps shutting me out.

sweetride4me 07.30.2009 06:55 AM

email him... he was having issues getting the notifications to go approve forum members... in the email tell him the user name you are signing up with and it should happen within 48hrs..... that's what he told me 6-8 months ago when I pm'd him (Robin) about activating another new forum members account for them....

Duster_360 07.31.2009 12:20 PM

Wow, was wondering what was going on. Wasn't down this long the last time he was hacked....understand why now.

If you read my earlier post the downtime was caused by the company who manages his site sending a bad command, which crashed the site. Robin stated that once they had done that things just kept getting worse. I fear that from the sounds of it they may have to rebuild the entire site for him. That would mean starting from scratch.

Mark Fradkin 07.31.2009 11:20 PM

I ordered spyder 8 gears and he shipped them in 24 hrs

JERRY2KONE 08.01.2009 02:59 AM

From what I have seen the UE store is working just fine. It is only the UE forum that is down.

Rivermaxx 08.03.2009 10:54 AM

You guys think robin might just be sick of dealing with it so he just shut the forum down. Its been down way too long if you ask me.

mkrusedc 08.03.2009 11:06 AM

Maybe, but that would suck just as he is starting to produce parts again.

sweetride4me 08.03.2009 11:14 AM

I saw an email from him that said he was basically having to learn SQL to try and fix the problem, the data is not lost just a break in the code to make it all run......

LOL thats a joke right. His first name is scott and he has many times in the past knowingly sold fake UE parts as such and has a hand in having the parts made. He does come across alot a great UE parts and has great shipping but you must beware. The UE crowd doesn't look approving at him.

Not a joke, just unaware of Scott. I guess I'm not part of the UE crowd nor have been for a long time. I sold my Maxx a long time ago....

Arct1k 08.03.2009 02:29 PM

That is the most distracting avatar!

nitrostarter 08.03.2009 02:34 PM

I feel that it eases tense in a heated thread... As well as pleases the eyes.

Very pleasing.

JERRY2KONE 08.03.2009 05:04 PM

exchange

The email that I exchanged with Robin was pretty serious. He seems very pissed off and said that he was working very hard to overcome this site issue. Your right that it has been much too long knowing past experiences with the UE site. Maybe he could use a hand from one of you internet guroos in getting the problem resolved. All I know is that he stated that his internet site manager company delivered a command that crashed the site.

As for Billytrucks he is at war with Robin because he is counterfitting UE parts and he was selling them stating that they were genuine UE parts. That issue is what got Robin started on his reproduction line for UE Maxx parts. Peronally I just do not like dealing with dishonest people, so I steer clear of billytrucks.

Mmmmh, girlz!

Arct1k 08.04.2009 08:18 AM

Thats just unfair! I have work to do!

sweetride4me 08.07.2009 09:43 AM

Very unfair... :mdr:

On the topic of the UE forum though I am becoming very disheartened that it is not coming back.....:surprised:

Kcaz25 08.07.2009 09:57 AM

...Yeah and you nitro-heads were just starting to get the hang of it. Ha, but yeah disheartened is the right word.

JERRY2KONE 08.07.2009 06:56 PM

Maybe?

Just maybe Robin has decided to take a real break from the forum, and is liking it even more than even he imagined? I can only imagine how difficult it must be to keep track of everything that goes on in these forums, and still run your business as well. At least Mike has a home for all of us to keep in touch with everything that is going on R/C. Has anyone else tried to contact Robin lately and find out what the latest status is from him?

Its been over a week since I emailed him. I got the same story, his host ran a command that he had previously told them not to and it jumbled his server. He managed to get the front page and the store working but he said the configuration between the forum and mysql was wiped out. The last I heard he was trying to fix it but he was having to re-learn mysql. I wish I could help him but its over my head.

Its starting to feel like an entire volume is missing from the encyclopedia of RC knowledge. Google cache doesn't have the answers for anything on the UE forums either :(

.dk

JERRY2KONE 08.10.2009 01:07 AM

You are right.

Yea I feel ya on that one. It is kind of weird without UE in the mix. If RCM disappeared we would really be screwed. For me UE and RCM are the only two really good venues to rely on for the info I am interested in. I sure hope Robin gets things back up and running again. Sooner would be better of course.

monarchmt 08.10.2009 08:42 PM

Have you tried chatting with Monster Mike here on RCM about doing some stuff for him as well. The RCM logo is a pretty good one to. I would be interested in some RCM and some UE SuperMaxx stuff if they get them in the store.
