Just thought i'd stop by...
...and let you guys know wuts been goin on with me and my recent projects. well its pretty much official. im out of r/c and no offence to you guys or anything but i actually have left over money now every 2 weeks when i get paid. I have now fully gotten into 1:1 cars and im loving it to death.
Just sold my 92 saturn sc2 as seen in these pics. "which was hard for me to do because it ran perfectly and only weighed 2200lbs so it was pretty damn quick with a 1.9 dohc.... http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...cture018-3.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...cture022-1.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...cture021-2.jpg But I did manage to pick up a really sweet 88 3b rotary 1.3 mazda rx7 with 58k miles after i sold the saturn and spent the saved money I had set aside. As you can tell from the pics its currently in primer mode and will be jet black after im finished. rims will be straight or jet black aswell. Im also looking for bigger rims/tires and a downforce wing. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...wnRCU/rx74.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...wnRCU/rx73.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...wnRCU/rx72.jpg so yeah just thought i'd post an update. i also saw that medusa went out of business. who woulda thought? |
You're saying 1:1 cars are less expensive then RC?
A single part can cost as much as a whole rtr kit or more... You can put thousands into a 1:1 car and still have stuff to do. |

Good to hear from you. Nice looking car there I like it! I too was going to stray away from the hobby to paintball/airsoft(competative not backyard things, like state to state matches) but like a lost dog found my way back to rc. Best of luck with the new hobby!

i have a feeling you'll come back to the rc hobby. its just waaaay too addicting. my longest break was about 8 years. and that was a real break. i thought i was done with rc myself. no looking at magazines, forums, anything.
but now im back in action for a good 3 years now. well, enjoy your new hobby though...its what keeps us sane. |
LOL...1:1 cars are ALOT more. I know, the companies I own build parts for the manufactures...and they are not cheap.
|
Good to hear from ya, ryan...
|
I know the feeling, I need to take a break from RC, I am selling some of the unused stuff I have here to pay for my gun hobby. Guns go up in price, and if you buy carefully you can make money on them too. Plus I enjoy the technical challenges of improving the actions and triggers. Yeah, add amateur gunsmith to the list of stuff the pimp does! LOL!

well bad news.... was on my way to a friends house and EAA is in town so traffic is heavy. got sideswiped by some guy in a green buick and he took out my side.
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...wnRCU/rx75.jpg collecting the insurance money and fixing it myself... |
That sucks man...
|
EAA is a big thing for pilots if I remember correctly. Kinda the national private pilot airshow.

My brother in law recently sold his Rx7... looked about like yours but without the fresh damage. LOL Anyway... his was one freakin nasty car. Not sure what all he did to it, but it would seriously smoke almost any car you will see on the road, in street racing.. rolling start. These aren't the greatest off the line, but from a rolling start, there isn't much that can keep up.
Not long ago, a guy in a tricked 4wd porsche came up beside him and laid on it trying to show off. At the next light, they turned a corner and my BIL got on it.... and the other dude just turned at the next corner and bailed. He didn't want anything to do with that little RX7 LOL I've been in some really fast cars... even some stuff built for the drag strip. But nothing as scary as this car on street tires ha ha |
hey man, i also got out of rc for dh mtbing tho, im getting a 96 Suby =]
|
RX7's can put down serious power, and since they aren't all that heavy (at all) they move out very well.
My bro's friend had an 800whp Supra once. Traction problems at 80mph on drag slicks... |
collecting the money and doing it yourself is insurance fraud, might not want to post that too much on the net...
good to hear from you and congrats on finding that low mile gem! did you just want to kill the a-hole that side swiped you? my temper gets away from me in those instances:whistle: just because you're getting out of r/c doesn't mean you have to leave RCM. I want to see vids of that thing moving out! peace |

Anyways, keep in mind the ins will try to screw you by writing a low est. So make sure you do some research and take a good look at the damage on the car compared to the est they give you. Just my $.02, but I do it for a living... |

I like Wisconsins insurance law. It is not illegal to drive without insurance, however, it is illegal to get in an accident without insurance. Better look out for the other guy! |
If it's the other party's insurance company, they have to pay you. You can choose to do whatever you want after that. Take it to a shop, do it yourself, or just go buy a new ps3 and 60" lcd....
|
yea that insurance law makes no sence. i as just paying for liability but now that i own a potentially expensive car when it gets all fixed up im going to get full coverage.
|
IDK about Wisconsin but I've been hit a few times (gotta love dumb broads) and if it did enough damage to even bother with I'd buy used parts to replace the damage and pocket the rest, how many people can say they've made money from their car?
1:1 can get pricey, but it's not too bad if you're smart about it. You can get that little thing to straight-up boogey with $2,000 or so. I'm debating between a Barrett M95 and a build-up of the engine in my Mustang right now, they both cost quite a bit but compared to what I've spent on RC it's nothing. |
Yea i try to stick to exaust/intake/computer upgrades. alot cheaper than other stuff you could do.
