RC-Monster XT8e!!

So... I just wanted to post a couple pictures of the XT8 chassis Mike and I have been working on. I've been running it a few weeks weeks now. Some of you at the RC-Monster bash saw it. Just thought you guys would like a sneak peak at one of the good things coming soon from the Monster. :mdr:

Basic changes from the stock XT8 layout. Offset center diff for better L/R balance. Steering servo converted from Lay down to stand up to allow center diff offset. Relocated rear chassis brace to allow for offset diff. Custom steering servo mount with integrated Rx tray and transponder mount. the chassis has pre-drilled mounting holes that line up with the Tekin RX8 esc and also has tapped holes that will allow the mamba Monster to bolt down to the chassis using the Traxxas esc mount. Simple and clean.

It uses the chassis length of the new XT8'09 model so if you want to convert one of the older XT8s you will need to get the '09 center CVD bones. Other than that it will bolt right onto the older model XT8 as well.

Very well balanced and super clean and easy to work on. I took the TQ and win with it at todays local club race. I was the only guy to pull 9 laps in qualifying in any class and I was able to do it twice. :gasp:

OZ-RUSTLER 08.02.2009 08:44 PM

That looks so sweeeet.
When will these be available?

jhautz 08.02.2009 09:04 PM

Mike will have to answer that, but hopefully it wont be to long. :mdr:

OZ-RUSTLER 08.02.2009 09:10 PM

Is it much wider than the stock chassis?
Are they custom side guards?

Thanks

What's_nitro? 08.02.2009 09:16 PM

That's a slick ride you got there....

Snipin_Willy 08.02.2009 11:20 PM

That is sweet, nice ride.

Jammin57 08.03.2009 12:20 AM

I like that chassis I got a xt8' 09 that's not being used at the moment guess I will have to buy the chassis when it comes out since I just sold my monster rc8t to the local track owner I'm converting my mp9 now so the Xray will be next

cheesecake 08.07.2009 12:37 AM

yeah yeah blah blah what.......i hate getting beat in my rc8t oh yeah its on....lol

that chassis is sweetness.. jeff and mike did a good job if i had a xray that would be the chassis i would have

magman 08.07.2009 07:27 AM

Another great monster creation!

ClodMaxx 08.20.2009 10:43 AM

sweetness.... great job jeff and mike! when they're available, consider another one sold....

speedslave 09.09.2009 12:35 AM

When can I order this?

fkadir 09.09.2009 09:38 PM

Consider another-one sold as soon as its available. :)

emaxxnitro 09.09.2009 10:03 PM

im sold mike make me one

RC-Monster Mike 09.09.2009 10:46 PM

Soon - tweaking some things at the moment. Should be running mine this weekend, actually. :)

kalbien 09.10.2009 08:17 AM

Well now I wet myself .. thanks a lot guys. really....

btw while you are at it, why not consider higher mud guards? that's like the last thing I envy guys with losi, they have like 3cm high mudguards at front.. sometimes I am running on wet track (no water, just wet)

(even without it, consider one more sold as soon as it's ready)

What I've done is take a piece of Lexan (leftover wheel cutouts work great) and drill an 1/8th in hole through it and the mudguard, then bolt them together with a 3mm screw and locknut. You really only need the front angle raised (like the Losi's) to cover tire roosts, the straight sides usually rest against the body. This also allows you to make a tight cutout (specific to that vehicle) to go around the steering bellcranks/ackerman plate for maximum mud protection. I'll put a pic up in a new thread so you can see exactly what I did.

aluminum

which aluminum grade did you use?
I'm planning to do a custom D8 chassis...

RC-Monster Mike 09.10.2009 12:42 PM

Our chassis kits use 7075-T6 aluminum - I use 6061 on the prototypes, though. Truth is, either works as good as the other on a chassis in my experience - 7075 is about 1/3 stronger, 1/3 heavier and much more expensive. The design is more important than 6061 vs 7075 on a chassis plate really, but 7075 is "premium" or "exotic" and makes people all warm and fuzzy, so this is what we use. :)

sabongi 09.10.2009 01:14 PM

chassis

Nice! I'll be using the 6061! I need something light! Or maybe carbon fiber:whistle::whistle:

bcltoys 09.11.2009 10:13 AM

Weeks or months

As stated above when it will be on the sale.

ClodMaxx 09.11.2009 10:39 AM

wow. for those of us the non-'09 spec, the new driveshafts alone are another $70. ouch. but.... it's xray.

maybe somewhere down the road mike could make driveshafts for the kit....? just askin'.

RC-Monster Mike 09.11.2009 12:13 PM

I think you only need the rear center shaft - the front center is unchanged I believe. It COULD sell in a couple weeks in its current form, but I am working on something special that I would like to implement. :)

ClodMaxx 09.11.2009 01:03 PM

that would be SWEET if i only needed one driveshaft! i'll do some checking on specs to see.

and something special?!?! i already thought the receiver/transponder mount and ability to mount the MMM with the traxxas mount was cool! so exciting! i'll wait for your final product.... you always have the coolest stuff!

emaxxnitro 09.11.2009 02:48 PM

whats the new inplement ?

Jabe 09.20.2009 09:20 AM

Is there going to be option for mechanical brakes?

cornolio 09.28.2009 02:12 AM

any update? PLs,PLs,PLs include the driveshafts

speedslave 10.05.2009 01:48 PM

any updates?

Jabe 10.13.2009 09:49 AM

Any hint when this is going to be released??
What is that special implement, can you reveal it?
Is there going to be options when buying, so that it could be bought as just chassis or chassis with batterytray etc...

doo540 10.13.2009 11:54 AM

Sign me up for one of those chassis too. I dont even have the xray truggy yet, but I plan to have one very ,very soon.

jhautz 10.13.2009 12:27 PM

I think Mike is looking to have final revision Prototypes ready for the iHobby show. Production following that would need to answered by him though. I wouldnt think it should take to long once the final revision prototypes are completed and confirmed.

To answer an earlier question:
Both the center drive shafts would need to be upgraded if you plan to use the older version of the XT8. Its designed to be bolt on for the '09 Spec. The older XT8 has different length drivesahafts in the center on both front and rear. But trust me guys, its a worth while upgrade to get the extra chassis length. It really settles the truck down and makes it very consistent on the track. Very much worth it to stretch the older version XT8 IMO.

Other than that everything else is bolt on for the older XT8 as well.

76Bentley 11.14.2009 01:37 AM

Mike I had talked to you about the rc8t, but after reading this post I pulled the trigger on a XT8 I had been watching on ebay. Consider another sold when they are ready.

Jabe 12.05.2009 03:40 PM

Can we expect this to be released before christmas?

Riko 12.05.2009 08:13 PM

Chassis length: 452 mm
Width: 428 mm front; 430 mm rear

The newer XT8'09 spec is 14mm longer than the previous model. Thats probably why you are seeing the length discrepancy.

ow okay,
but the strange thing is that those 2 pages are regarding the same 2009 spec XT8....

jhautz 12.07.2009 10:46 AM

I think they missed updateing some of the specs on the website for some reason. I saw the same thing on the 2010 model of the 808.

Riko 12.07.2009 02:31 PM

okidoki! thx!

virusss 12.29.2009 09:41 AM

Any news of this fantastic chassis????

doo540 12.29.2009 12:36 PM
