This is my first post here at RCM. I thought, what better way to introduce my self than showing off my favorite ride. Its a Factory Team from before the first service pack was available. I ran nitro for a short while and then went electric. I like the electric much better because I run here on my backyard track often and dont want to bug the neighbors.

Feel free to ask questions.. Glad to be part of such a knowledgeable community!

Hey Thanks! Tonights race made all 6 hours of prep time worth it. Finished 2nd in electric buggy at West Coast RC raceway! The buggy ran perfectly. Only a 7 minute main and 2 5 minute qualifiers.. What a great night. Im tired for now, and busy tomorrow, but eventually Ill look through my pictures and video and see what I can share...

=) Thanks guys.. The track is not AC'd but by the time I got there to race (6:30) it was pretty cool inside. They had a few big fans around. The track surface is some kind of clay and they didnt water it all night, and it had great traction.

Slimthelineman... Which one are you? I did meet Max Power, and a few others but not sure which one you are.

Its a great track, for a lot of reasons. One reason that stands out - electric only! Which means my wife and kids could come out and enjoy watching and hanging out. I will be back to race soon but not this friday. I am thinking 2 weeks or so. Its a 2 + hours drive for me. That said, I cant wait to get back!

emaxxnitro 08.11.2009 12:05 PM

nice, it looks like a sandy clay...
my track is red clay. it sucks up the water fast!

MetalMan 08.11.2009 12:26 PM

Supposedly West Coast is about a half hour drive to 45mins for me, so I will have to show up for a race some time.

Nice looking buggy you got!

slimthelineman 08.11.2009 08:11 PM

wednesday and friday at 7pm and from what i hear wednesday is supposed to be the big night. i usually go friday on the way home from work. they race sunday too i dont know what time. have no idea about the onroad schedule but you can practice on race days on the opposite track as long as you run 2.4.

good people and competitive racing, probably why i still am involved in this hobby after so many years:lol:

Frank H 08.13.2009 03:29 PM

Not this Friday, but Ill be going back on Friday Aug 21. Cant wait!

montyjcm 08.14.2009 12:10 PM

Unfortunately, this track closed down as of today. They are having issues with the city and hope to be back up Nov 1. But I can attest that this place was amazing. Great atmosphere, tech track. It was great! Hopefully, they get up and running soon again.

Btw, nice buggy frank! ;) My 8ight wants another race date at your track!

Frank H 08.18.2009 01:35 PM

Thanks!

since West Coast RC is closed, I want to race my buggy at Revelation this Friday. A couple of friends are going to OCRC. I am under the impression that OCRC is kinda small for 8th buggies. What should I do?

By the way Monty, pretty busy lately and havnt had time to maintain my track. The hole in the end of the straight is still there and its nasty.

For those that dont know, this is my backyard:

I JUST watched that video yesterday. Nice track! :D

montyjcm 08.18.2009 01:58 PM

Yeah, it's a great track! Really techincal, which helps out for racing and stuff. I love running there.

Frank H 08.18.2009 02:26 PM

If any of you guys live in San Diego, come try my track! I want to get a bunch of ELECTRIC buggies out there. Can do nitro.

Frank H 09.12.2009 12:01 PM

Since these pictures I have done the steering mod and added big bores. Ill be racing at ARC today. I hope I last the whole 15 minute main! Race report to come.

E-Revonut 09.12.2009 12:16 PM

You are a very dedicated person to turn your entire back yard into a track! Looks like it would be great for a CRT.5!

Frank H 09.12.2009 12:19 PM

yeah, its perfect size for my crt.5 (with RCM conversion of course). Thanks! Me and a few friends spent all day yesterday working on the track - fixing imperfections that happen from use. We added some woops in one section and a burm in another, and flattened out a couple pot holey spots.

Frank H 09.13.2009 02:51 AM

ARC had their first all electric class and 13 of us entered it. I placed 4th in Electric buggy! What a fun day! I only with they didnt limit our race to 12 minutes as every other main was 15 minutes. I guess some other electric guys asked for a shorter race. Not me! I wanted 15!

montyjcm 09.14.2009 06:35 PM

I wanted 15 min mains as well! Nevertheless, 12 was still fun!

Great racing frank! He hung in there with some very fast guys (Dan from Tekno being one). It pays to have a backyard track to practice on
