Off Topic: UFC 101
 

Do any oof you gus kep up with MMA? Did you watch UFC last night? OMG! Anderson Silva totally showed Forrest Griffin up last night, Wow what can I say Anderson is the man, he dropped his hands and let Forrest come in with a flurry and without even bringing his hands from his sides he side stepped Forrest and popped him in the mouth and Ko'd him. :surprised:

When Anderson came in from Pride the only fight I had seen him in was where another guy pulled off a wicked leg lock on him and I thought he wasn't that good. He came to the UFC and has pretty much destroyed everybody (cept his last coupla lack luster fights). All I can say is WOW!

I have been keeping up with the UFC since UFC 1 then when they got banned from just about everywhere in the US. We didn't pick it up again until UFC 40 or so and we have watched everyone since. I even DVR everything then record them onto DVD for later. My DVR recorder died about 3 months ago and about 2 weeks ago the hard drive went out in our DVR so I lost from UFC 70 through 100, I can't even get a computer to read the contents of the drive (Ya I removed it from the Dish DVR.) so now I am out all those shows. that sucks.

Silva is one bad dude! He tore some people up in Pride. And he really gave it to Forrest last night, simple good hard hit right on the button.

I will say, I thought Griffin looked off his game all night tho. He wasn't his normal self to me. He's usually a lot better.

BJ Penn is one quick, hard hitting SOB and Florian took it like a man! I was a little upset that Penn got the pass on Florian in the end. Penn did it a couple times and it seemed like he wanted to go for the TKO and blood. But Penn passed on him again and choked him out...

Griffen against that 1 big dude when they did the UFC reality show was just sick. He took a good 500 hits and didnt fall down. I bow to him

I've been watching the UFC since the first fight. The Gracie lrgacy will always be there (Had to throw that in). Anderson Silva is a complete fighter and it's good to see another Brasilian on top of the game.

GSP is a great fighter. He's probably one of the most fit fighter in the UFC.

I would like to see that match as well, but aren't they in a different weight class? I would hate to see 2 Brasilians go at it, but UFC will decide though.

This saturday on showtime . Gina carano versus chris cyborg santos for the womans title at 145 . They are the main event . They will be fighting 5 five minute rounds just like the guys. Not the usual 3 three minute rounds .

Gina's a tough broad, I wouldn't want to fight her. That chick can thrown down !
Should be a great scrap,I'm watchin' it.

CYBORG is a tough girl as well . It should be a great fight .

GSP is one of my favorites as well. Always seem's to be upbeat and an all around good guy. NOT a fan of BJ Penn.

Alot of the other guys I like are nearing the end of their career's.

there is word that gina may not make weight so cyborg will have to fight a replacement. not to mention, there will be a replacement for josh thompson and nick diaz as well.
this event is sorta looking pretty weak.

Yes it's true gina has a history of not making weight . Cyborg has missed weight once . But if one or both of them miss weight . I think they will still fight . But it will be at a catch weight . & not for the title . I personally think the deal with nick diaz is BS . He should get no special treatment from the csac just because he has a legal prescription for weed & should have to pee clean just like everone else . If the other fighters can not have anything in there system come fight time then neither should he . My farvorite fighter is WANDY . To me he is just exciting to watch win or loose .

Boy Howdy that would be a rumble for sure, Fedor is awesome but I think Brocks wrestling and shear power will easily prevail.

For me it's to early in brock's carrer to say how good he is . I know he has world class wrestling . He was the 2000 NCAA HEAVY WEIGHT champion . That being said he is very fast for a man his size . I personally think his size, strength & speed played the biggest role in him winning his fight's.

+1, His up and coming career does look promising though. He's a BAD man.

He will get beat sometime. I dont know if FEDOR is the one to do it, but he might be. He has faced guys as big or bigger tham brock and beaten them. Mark hunt is a K1 kickboxer with some mma skills lost. It's just going to be hard on anyone once brock gets them down & ends up in the top postion. If he ends up on the bottom then it's a totally different ball game .

With his wrestling background he (should) be quit comfortable on his back ?

I would think being a wrestler he would prefer the dominant postion (on top). jujitsu guys prefer being on ther back .

Sure I hear ya, just saying he should be no stranger to working on his back and regaining the dominate position. The old switch-a-roo.

He definitely has the ability to just throw someone off of him if he's on the bottom because he is so strong . If he is in the dominate postion or GAURD postion then he is vulnerable to a lot of submission holds . Such as a triangle choke , omaplata, gogoplata , & armbars . Im sure there are more but those are the ones i always here the commentators talk about . Either way i sure as hell would not want to fight him .

I would in a second, w/a large calibur weapon. Then still run like Hell.

6 pack to my Brother, and I'll help him drink it. I'm not mad or angry, Just dissapointed. I really thought Carano was going to have more in her for the guy she fought. I've seen 7-8 of her fights on video and she always dominated with her punching and ability of throwing her opponent around.

I don't think GSP and A. Silva would happen I think Silva is going to stay in 205 for now(might even give up his belt from what I hear.)

As far as Brock he has no real skills other than wrestling, ya he beat Mir, but he is HUGE and he uses those stupid close hammer fists like he is a kid fighting for the first time. He is progressing, but he showed no technical abality just used his size and weight and wrestling to do the job, and that will only work for so long, before someone punches a hole in his game. Right now the Heavy Weight class is devoid of real talant, I mean how many good Heavys are there 5? That's why they dropped the middle weight class for the new season of TUF. We'll see what Kimbo can do, we know he is a turtle off his back hopfully he picked up a thing or two this time. I also think Mir took Brock to lightly, I would love to see a rubber match with mir on top of his game. Everyone knows wrestlers don't like to be on their back, but even from gaurd a Kimura is always right around the corner.

When Brock came to the UFC I thought great a freaking WWE wrestler that's going to have no respect for what MMA has become. For a couple of fights I thought well maybe he will leave that "big show" mentality out of MMA. Well after Ko'ing Mir I hope he gets beat by Gonzaga (who has had the worst fight I have ever seen against Kevin Smith, and got owned by Randy C.)


Still I hate to see Gina get beat.

She has fought at least twice for strikeforce & tested clean both times . So i dont expect anything to be different this time. Dont be upset because the pretty girl got beat up :lol: . As for silva & gsp . I think silva will be to big for gsp . Brock has WORLD CLASS wrestling . He was the 2000 NCAA HW champ . Plus his speed is incredable for a guy his size . It going to be almost impossible for anyone to stop his take downs in my opinion, because of his size & speed. Other than that he has'nt shown me alot either . Alot of the ufc heavy's have have a good ground game . If kimbo has't developed a ground game he will be in deep dookie . His stand up will only take him so far .
