genral all around tire

I'm looking for a genral all around tire for my erevo. I was looking at the HPI gt tires http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDLB2&P=K and Traxxas trx sport wheels http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDAE3&P=K I usually drive on pavement, but I want a tire that would be good in grass and on dirt roads. Do you guys think these would be a good choice?

nbcaznmaster 02.08.2006 11:34 PM

i say use maxx tires! i love em cuz they last forever!

camel_rc 02.09.2006 12:05 AM

Yeah, but they suck for traction.

I would recomend Proline Maxx Mashers. They have great traction offroad and they won't get destroyed on the street.

Re~Mix 02.09.2006 12:06 AM

I would stray away from the traxxas wheels, I heard they are cheap and can't hold up the power most brushless guys put them through.

crazyjr 02.09.2006 12:09 AM

I would say mashers or the stock talons are the best for bashing

ttrmike 02.09.2006 12:45 AM

Thanks for the replys. I was also looking at the crime fighters, but those are more of a racing tire. Re~Mix the stock revo wheels (gemini's) heldup just fine to my 9L. I was also looking at the Maximizers new truggy bead lock, but have 17mm hexs. anybody know of any other bead locks that would work with standered maxx tires.

squeeforever 02.09.2006 08:37 PM

i would stay away from geminis because the spokes break easily. the hurricanes are much better. as for tires, the talons are nice but a good crime fighter would be better for almost any suface. the mashers however are pretty good for almost anything as well as they will last a while.

crazyjr 02.09.2006 09:53 PM

If the gemini's are stock i've never had a problem with them

so do you think the crime fighters would work well for grass? How fast do you think they would were on the street?

Basketti 02.09.2006 10:56 PM

i always here that zombie maxx tires are the best for all around bashing, they are a bit heavier than normal but get good traction on everything.

it depends on how you drive, what your running, ect. but i would say only on the street, a good while although i dont really run my on the street but to tune my truck. however, they do hook up better on the street than my road rages so thats saying something. oh, and yes, they do hook up well on grass just as long as its not wet. they slide like crazy on wet grass.

coolhandcountry 02.10.2006 06:59 PM

The best tire I have found if not concerned about weight a dirt hawg is a pretty good tire. I have run them on street dirt grass sand. The have decent grip in all of the above listed. You can get the 40 series beadlocks by proline. 23mm hexes so no problem on hexes to strip out. They seem to be wearing very well to. They are just not a light tire.

Mike.L 02.12.2006 09:53 PM

depends on the truck scale size you have...most likely 1/10...
i think your best bets are for sand: SLINGSHOT
for road:ROADRAGE 2 OR 1
for all round:MOAB AND BOW TIE 40 SERIES

Sylvester 02.12.2006 10:26 PM

bow ties wouldnt be the best for all-around uses.

squeeforever 02.12.2006 11:52 PM

i beg to differ. the crimes are definately the best all around.

ttrmike 02.13.2006 01:07 AM

I think I'm gonna go with a set of 40 series bow ties and proline commando bead-loc rims.

Sylvester 02.13.2006 08:16 AM

yea that would be prettty good for now.

Mike.L 02.13.2006 06:03 PM

i agree i like the proline tires and bow tie is great!:018:

coolhandcountry 02.13.2006 07:00 PM

The crime fighters and bowties may be good for some. Maybe a good race tire. But they are not the best all around tire to me.

Sylvester 02.13.2006 07:08 PM

Yea, the bow-ties/CF are not for all around use IMO.

ttrmike 02.13.2006 07:22 PM

Well this set will be used mostly on dirt roads, and I'll probably pick up a set of 40 series mashers to.

Sylvester 02.13.2006 07:55 PM

Mashers are awesome for all-purpose use.

coolhandcountry 02.13.2006 07:58 PM

What kind of dirt roads? If it is alot of loose stuff I would run the mulchers or something. If it is hard pack the crime fighters and bowties would be good.

ttrmike 02.13.2006 08:08 PM

Its mostly hard pack with gravel on the sides.

coolhandcountry 02.13.2006 08:19 PM

I think the crime fighters would be a good choice for that. I like to know how the mashers do. Could you let me know? I want to test run a set of 40 series mulchers when I get two more rims.

ttrmike 02.13.2006 08:31 PM

Sure, just its gonna be a while t'l I get the mashers.

Mike.L 02.13.2006 10:38 PM

where are you purchasing the tires from?
proline?:013:
or rc-monster mike?
or other?

ttrmike 02.13.2006 11:46 PM

My local hobby shop.

Mike.L 02.14.2006 07:47 PM

ok thats good...do they have a website?

ttrmike 02.14.2006 07:54 PM

They do have a website but it is not worth visiting because they never update it. But here it is: http://redmondwa.hobbytown.com/

Mike.L 02.14.2006 08:03 PM

thanks for the website....but your right pritty borring LOL

Dafni 02.15.2006 03:15 AM

I find the stock maxx tire a good all-round tire. They are very heavy, but also almost impossible to kill.
These days I run them reversed, perfect for snow-bashing.

ttrmike 02.17.2006 09:50 PM

Picked up a set of Commando's and Bow Ties today. They are REALLY sticky tires! They just stick to my hand when I was putting them on.
