My Brushless baja 5B is finish!!!

Hallo boys yesterday I tried the baja 5b with the neu 2215, I have to say that the
machine now is perfect, 85KMH,and after 20 minutes of the game
engine was 50C degrees and the esc was 55c °, this is the video :)

OZ-RUSTLER 08.13.2009 03:17 AM

Nice. Any naked shots?

virusss 08.13.2009 03:28 AM

The only shot i have

Looks like a 12545, you can order them right from their website but it'd be cheaper to get one through Mike.

virusss 08.13.2009 08:50 AM

yes is a MGM, i take it from Mike few months ago...

lutach 08.13.2009 02:06 PM

Very nice. Do you know anyone with a gas Baja 5B? It would be awesome to see how they both would do against each other.

virusss 08.13.2009 04:23 PM

i know my friend had the baja petrol ... but I feel afraid to try:)

magman 08.13.2009 05:02 PM

Very nice....I can only imagine how much all of the electronics cost.

virusss 08.14.2009 02:26 PM

I found the problem...
My bja take only the 80kmh because my lipo go under 35 volts under load...
To reach a 90 kmh i need a new set of 35C lipo :)

What's_nitro? 08.14.2009 06:21 PM

Very nice. It really gets moving at the end when the lipos warm up a bit.

virusss 08.29.2009 09:39 AM

Hallo boy, today i run my baja with eagletree system sensor...
This is the resyults
Temp ambient 37 C°
Temp motor 51 C°
Temp esc 53 C°
Temp batt 49 C°
Top speed 85 KMH
Top RPM 24.834
Runtime 20 minute

Now i am very happy of this setup

othello 08.29.2009 03:12 PM

First of congratulation on this nice build. Thanks for sharing the Eagletree graph. Seems as if the car needs around 45A @ 36V to maintain top speed (1600W). Hard to tell without zooming in further into the graph.

Could you attach the eagletree data file "baja221510slast.FDR" i would like to get a better idea what exactly happens from an electric point of view when moving a 1:5 vehicle.

Around 540W average is less than i would have expected, but this is mostly related to the driving style. 110A (3800W) peak is not that high but seems to be due to the grip limit of the rear tires (Batteries may also be the limit). I guess you were still running your "older" lipos (older generation PQ5000 with 25C) as voltage drops to min 32,91V.

Did you already drove it offroad? Might not be that easy to find a good offroad bashing spot in a big city like rome ;-)

Yes othello this is the file :)

virusss 08.29.2009 03:44 PM

Yes Othello, in Rome is difficult to find a track, but i see a nice place to make an off-road session...in the next week :)
I need to make a filter on the 2215 to prevent the fan suck a debris
yes my lipo is older polyquest 5000 25c
i want to buy a 35C

doo540 08.29.2009 05:38 PM

Nice Virusss
Could you give us some more details on:
the motor mount
clutch you are using
brake setup, mech, or are you using the motor to break
total weight of the car

virusss 08.29.2009 06:50 PM

Motor mount is made by Serum :) Super nice work
I use the brake stock system (mechanical), with the motor brake the esc make too hot, stop a 11 kg of car is difficult for esc.
i don't use a clutch the pinion is connected directly to the motor shaft

othello 08.30.2009 05:22 AM

Very interesting browsing your eagletree file. I made a quick sum up graph while zooming into 1 minute of your run (mostly speed runs):

http://www.braintrust.at/2007/ds/rc/neu221510slast.gif

Virusss, do you know your overall gearing? Which pinion size do you run? Judging from rpm and voltage level i suppose you run a Neu 2215 2.5Y (600kv), is this correct?

With 5000mAh and a more constant / agressive power use (especially when running higher output batteries) i would expect runtimes to drop below 10 minutes (more then 500mAh per minute) and an average power of 1KW. You might want to get higher capacity batteries.

virusss 08.30.2009 05:53 AM

Wow Othello, very nice explain my eagle tree file...
yes the neu is 2215 600 kv
the gearing is 17/57 (stock)
my runtime approx 18 minute if i remember correct
i like to try 35c hyperion, and i like to try in offroad

p.s.
i like so much your video with eagletree file in overlay...how did you make?

othello 08.30.2009 05:52 PM

I am using a hyperion G3 3s 2200mAh vz 35C lipo and it performs great in a 1:16 buggy. Built quality seems top. Recharging with 10A (max 5c) takes about 20 minutes. Capacity although is only 2050mAh and not 2200mAh.

I posted some guidelines on how to insert eagletree data into a video about one year ago.

This is my latest video with eagletree inserts featuring my custom 4wd Baja based on 2 1:8 truggy chassis.

virusss 08.31.2009 12:41 PM

very nice guide for video editing :)
next week i try the baja off-road and i make a vid

virusss 09.17.2009 03:56 AM

Hallo boys, i have a problem...
I must protect my 2215 from dust, but I do not know how close the fan that sucks air ...
I had thought of putting a filter but I do not know what
Any ideas??

othello 09.17.2009 04:58 AM

You might want to try something like this

http://sites.google.com/site/planbpa...Luftfilter.jpg

Stockings/nylons from your girlfriend/mam should do.

And if you want to protect your front bearing from wet cut a round piece of felt, grease it, drill a smal hole trough it and glue/attach it on the front shield right in front of the bearing.

virusss 09.17.2009 05:19 AM

yes othello, i like the collant system :) but in the rear side?

virusss 10.06.2009 02:59 AM

lutach 10.06.2009 08:48 AM

Is it me or does those Bajas move faster then the gas version.

cembom 10.06.2009 02:05 PM

The first one was absolutely silent. But I would like some more details on the second one.

Desert Rc 10.06.2009 04:41 PM

OMG that is sick....okay I have new focus.

Top speed of his with the same gearing as stock will be a fair bit faster because of the RPMs, but that acceleration is where it's at. The stock tires suck, particularly in grass, but with a gas Baja it's actually somewhat controllable with any significant amount of throttle. That 2215 has plenty of power on tap to do some custom greenskeeping!
