Savage Flux "Frostbyte" project complete! *56ker's no!*

Well, at long last! After nearly 4 months of waiting, prepping, saving, upgrading and planning, my Savage Flux project "Frostbyte" is at long last done! Ever since I got my hands on my beloved Flux, I had plans on how to turn it into the ultimate practical basher for my needs and visual preferences. After getting my first brushless monster truck, I've been dreaming about making my flux into my own "personal" vision of how I want it to look and perform. I wanted a balance of good looks with good practicality without going overboard on unnecessary addons or "bling" just to show off and impress others, which I made the mistake of over two years ago on my Revo 3.3

No, this project was all about ME and what I wanted personally in my first brushless truck. And after much mind changing, online researching and impatience later, I feel I got a good personal balance of style, performance and all around toughness with my savage flux I now call "Frostbyte"

This aint no shelf queen folks! This frozen, fast and lean flux is meant to be pushed, punished and enjoyed while still having some pizazz and looks to backup its rough and tough attitude. After a long delay due to an unfortunate Lipo battery incident with my first SMC's, the upgraded and quickly shipped SMC replacements Lipo's at long last arrived this week and project "Frostbyte" was at last finished!
http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...smc-lipos.html

I'm very happy how this project turned out! Its maiden voyage today was farking awesome as everything worked perfectly on a perfect day at the perfect bashing spot! I"ll post a youtube vid in the near future. In the mean time, please enjoy "Frostbyte" in all its visual glory on her long time coming unveiling!

Please feel free to comment, suggest or drool!

Lookin' good! Glad to see you got your lipo situation straightened out and back in the field before the white stuff comes back.

88gtanotchback 09.04.2009 01:03 AM

d186apex 09.04.2009 11:24 AM

lookin real nice, dont you guys think that hpi should make a body that covers the batt trays.

Freezebyte 10.11.2009 12:09 AM

Got my free bulletproof diff upgrades from HPI yesterday and finally had the energy to install them today. I shouldn't havn't worry about the diffs for quit awhile now. The difference is quite impressive, anxious to drive it now and see the difference

I was concerned about my stock diffs breaking like so many other peoples have been on Flux's so I called up HPI last week and asked what my options were and they offered to send me free upgraded replacements so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Simple as that!

You think this might work if we "say" we have a Flux? I do have a HV Savage that can dish out more power than the Flux...

If they broke, no reason they won't replace them for you.

Well I contacted them and they said to send them a pic of the broken diff, and they would only replace it not both, I thought you could not mix and match them? Shouldnt they replace both?

Freezebyte 10.18.2009 07:31 PM

Some better outside and action pics. I"ll have a big video up later tonight of our recent bash session. New bulletproof diffs rock and even sound "beefier"

Freezebyte 07.07.2010 12:19 AM

Much to my great surprise, "Frostbyte" made Xtreme RC mag as well!! Wow, I"m so proud of my Flux, it made all four mags!

Jahay 07.08.2010 05:30 AM

wow i am so shocked... They allow stock trucks in mags? Is this the entire list of mods you have carried out? hmmm

Modifications:
Proline Badlands tires w/fiber taping
Proline Velocity 1/2'' offset dish rims
Protoform Harddrive body
Team TCS Blue Aluminum TVP frame
HPI HD Steel drive gear
Bad Horsie blue shock covers
Modified battery trays w/safety straps
Zip tied bulkhead pin modification
Black RPM arms

Also i am a little confused???? i dont like ripping on people, but why on every other forum is everyone dissing you for you not even owning this truck? i would like to hear your story...

Arct1k 07.08.2010 08:18 AM

Look he got in the magazine because he sent in a nice looking pic not because he upgraded it... I've seen completly stock cars printed from 12 year olds that are just plain proud of their car... Nothing wrong with that...

lincpimp 07.08.2010 11:44 AM

Regardless of the mods the truck is clean and the pics are very nice, good angles, lighting, crisp detail, etc. That is what the mags are looking for, good pics and clean vehicles. You could have a titanium motor mount and some maxamps lipos and if the whole deal is covered in mud and the picture was take with a 1 megapixel camera with a dirty lens at night it would not make the mag...

Finnster 07.08.2010 04:00 PM

"90% of life is just showing up." Did anyone send in a better truck and pix that month?

There have been more inspiring and cutting edge build-ups before, but his was well done, well photographed and actually submitted. In the end, that's what matters.

Don't pretend that you have standards Harold. We all know all that matters for you, in the end, is if they have $5 or a 40oz of Magnum.

:gasp:

Whatever, all Harold cares about is that he can find a "buddy" that fits "snuggly" in a Magnum rubber... His motto is go big or go down...

Not sure how Hippie works... Probably his wardrobe choice (as seen in bondoscrot's photobucket album) turns Harold crank, so to speak....

Jahay 07.09.2010 04:51 AM

I'd settle for $2 in food stamps or a tall can. You guys think way too highly of me.
