Buggy conversion
Thanks to the influence of virusss and my Maxx been a pain to get parts for, going to convert a buggy.
I'm thinking of a EB4 s3. Just wondering how I would gear it and mounting the motor? Does anyone know where I could get those plastic battery holders from too? Any advice would be appreciated. |
Don't know about gearing or mounting the motors. But those battery cups are made by associated. Unfortunately for you (and me) I don't know of anywhere that stocks them in the UK, but plenty of places in the US have them
|
I use TwinForce battery holders on mine.
http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2333 They hold 7 cell Ni packs, and work fine. Mike has some in stock. |

Mike has them. I not sure about if they listed. Drop him an email. He can hook you up.
|
Keep in mind that whatever buggy you convert should have the capability to run a plastic spur gear, or the ability to use a center diff that uses a plastic spur.
Is it me, or is the BL buggy thing starting up again? |
Battery trays very important..
Dafni, nice set-up I have the same set-up also on kyosho mp6 international
I use the twinforce battery holders also, very strong and durable.:003: |
how do you attach the battery box to the chassis? doublesided tape, or screw it in somehow?
|
battery holders...
I just screwed it on to the stone guards. Follow the holes on the battery holder. i hope this helps.. I show it to with pics but it says my file is to big..

These look like they'll work great - only one question... the one side of the battery tray seems to take body clips to hold it down, but I don't understand why the otherside is different. It seems to want screws to hold it down, but I don't understand how the battery would be easy to take out if you have screws holding one side down. I wonder if just wrapping thin wire through those holes would work... what are you guys doing? |

I went check it out. It looks as if he has a clutchbell on the end of the motors, or is it just my eyes???? |

Always to do it the weird way, looks like Chris Fine does indeed use a clutchbell on his cars.........even though he carries the mod1 and 32p pinions. They don't look too special to me though, and I've heard horror stories of people dealing with Chris and mystery charges appearing on their credit cards as well as him just generally being an arse. Sometimes he fakes his knowledge of car stuff too because he's a boat guy, not sure if the clutchbells instead of a pinion is an example of that or not.
Another thing, it's kinda like a crawler: why buy it built when you can have more fun building it? Built not bought all the way! |
Since my topic has been brought back up, will update you:
I've purchased the EB4, comes with flat chassis. Got some allu' too (250x250x5mm) to make motor and servo mount out of and I've orderd some hardened steel pinions. I've got velcro for batteries. I would use plastic battery trays from Mike but the postage to the UK was alot, just for some plastic tubs, which I can understand, sorry. I'm starting to drill out the allu for the motor mount, it is looking good! Needed to move the servo too, so it is standing vertical not horizontal, which requires me to make a new mount for it. :) Thanks, will get pictures of the finished model. |
Some pictures of the model and material and a basic idea of what I have in mind. No pictures of progress yet:

The shaft falls short of the spur but I'm waiting for hardened steel pinions to arrive before I adjust it some more. Thanks, Nick. |
Very nice nick! That poor maxx, it has no guts left to use:p
|
Nice buggy Nick today a my friend has ended its buggy, equal to mine....
http://www.brushless-italia.it/marco.rar Has made 80 Kmh |
Nice buggy! I like your motormount. Very beefy :)
|
virusss, that buggy is insane! The video is a little weird, there are green blobs throught it.
|
What electric setup (motor/batteries) does he use Viruss?
|
That buggy is awsome virusss. That green stuff is very wierd - maybe something to do with the encryption.
|
mmm...I have not seen green blob, use vlc player for view..
The setup of my friends is: Lehner 1940/9 Warrior 9920 6S lipo flightpower 3700 mha 30C 14 /44 pinion/spur Max speed 80 Kmh Temp motor 45 C° Temp esc 48 C° |
Works fine with VLC player. Cheers virusss
|
i am happy that functions...

Goes like stink though! |
Your buggy is getting there, Nick! Just curious, why the large servo horn ;)? If you could shave some of the CF top deck, you could move the motor plate closer to the center spur.
|
is black, but in the video seems blue...
:) |

It is the only one I had, lol. Yeh, plenty to work with on the motor mount, if I ever needed more space. |
