Sure, I'll put a couple of motors beside each other tomorrow..

I plan to use this motor on my 4x4 Rampage MT, but I don't have it yet... It was suppose to be in my possession a few weeks ago, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen yet...

That Dog(TerriPoo) loves RCs and anything related... just like his daddy...:) ...

Looks like it will be going into the dog. Should be an interesting project, I look forward to following the conversion. Its about time someone did one, the emissions on those things are awful.

Where do you plan to mount the batts? Does he drool much? If so you may want to invest in Maxamps waterproof lipos.

Ah ha! I'm glad someone has finally found a good use for those things. MA loves giving it up the A anyway, they will feel right at home.

Can't wait to see the burnout videos. :) The shortwheel base on that thing should make for some mad wheelies.

I would suggest mounting the antenna like this:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HhUjJ73jZs...enna%2Bcat.jpg

There was a bit of (AM) radio interference on this conversion, but it was a nitro and a fail-safe was never installed. Oh well, I never liked cats anyway.

kitty guy says me no likey (referring of course to MA and tool licker jason)

Have Lehner gotten any better with customer service? Why did you choose the Lehner 3080 over let say a Neu 22xx? Did you get a good deal for the 3080?

Reason, I had chosen the Lehner over the neu because...

All the hype and literature that the 1527 and the 2215 would smoke the 2280..... I had to get myself a 1527, so I had gotten 4.. 3 different winds...
and none of those motors could even compare to the power out put of the 2280-5 HA.. but the 1527's were more powerful than my 2280-13 non hi-amp.. After seeing a video of a 2215 on 8S+ on a baja 5B, it's nothing compared to the 2280-5 HA on 6S.. 8S is just sick... So I guess I am in love with the "Hi Amp" versions of the Lehner motors... They have always served me well... Warranty still takes time.. and I only had to service the 2280 one time.. now, I have a 1950 HA being sent to Lehner.. Their customers service is nothign compared to Neu, I can imagine. But I really do like the Hi Amp series made by Lehner... So, since the 3080s are all Hi Amps, I had to have one. Nothing against Neu either.. I have 6 Neu motors and will/would definately buy them again... for their performance, the price is just awesome!!. I will get a Neu 2230 of the same KV and I will definately do a comparison...

Sounds good. I'll be waiting for a comparison of the Neu 2230. When will we all see this monster of yours in action?

Semi Pro 09.11.2009 07:45 PM

where did you get it and how much?

i take it it has a 8mm shaft?

KaztheMinotaur 09.11.2009 08:47 PM

What ESC and batteries are you going to use in the Rampage?

Here's the photo of the comparison.. I have a sh*t load of feigaos and KB-45, but not worth putting in the photo and I don't feel like unmounting them from the cars/trucks that they are in...
http://www.geocities.com/aqwut/RCM/M...ORS_resize.JPG

Lutach, I'm trying to pick up a Rampage MT2 right now for $550 RTR with a 30.5 ESP.. Used of course.. I could probably get atleast $200 for the Engine, sell off the radio gear..

Semi Pro, I got it from FD.. I tried to get it from Mike, but he doesn't deal with them anymore.. Paid seven bills for it.. and over a month wait time.. Go figure! Next time, I will do it direct... It has a 10mm shaft, so perfect for conversion.. When I have cash for the Neu 2230, I would definately get it from Mike...

Hey Kaz, I plan to use Schulze 40.300WK, Batteries.. 12S PolyQuest XP 5Ah and 12S Turnigy 25C 5Ah...

What's_nitro? 09.12.2009 12:30 AM

Oooo where did you get that Neu 1572 series????

Yeah that 3080 beats the **** out of my 1940HA... But a 3080 doesn't fit in a Rustler- or does it??? Hmmm...

Hey man, nice to see you here. Are YOUR Lehner still going strong? I am having a hard time choosing a right motor for my new 115cm Catamaran, Lehner or Neu, "that is a question".

Mozzy 09.12.2009 05:51 AM

I've been toying with the idea of going big bL in one of these.

http://www.navicraftboats.com/html/N...t_outrage.html

However, I'm a little lost on what motor would be best suited. I want to go 10-12S.

I want it FAST!

scarletboa 09.12.2009 02:04 PM

what's with the wiring on the 2280HA? it looks like it is wired like a brushed motor. it even has those weird brushed motor connectors.

nitrostarter 09.12.2009 02:22 PM

Looks like he has 2 leads coming from the Motor connections. Also the Lehner's can be wired 2 different ways.

The 2280HA has only 3 leads and you can see under the black wires the red wire for the other phase.

pb4ugo 09.12.2009 06:33 PM

OMG!! I want!!

Seriously, maybe it is because they were my first love, but I still prefer the Lehners over any other motor I've tried. It's a shame Mike won't pick up the line again (since BK is no longer involved). That leaves FD, with whom I will not do business, or ordering directly from Lehner. With exchange rates, a 1950 I priced from Lehner ended up at almost $500.:surprised: I like them, but not that much.

aqwut 09.13.2009 01:58 AM

the 2280 HA could only be wired one way.. I have 2 10 AWG wires coming from each connection... 1 wire was getting way too hot(I mean HOT)... when they say Hi-Amp.. they really mean it...

ScarletBoa, LOL, those are 5.5mm bullets... I just have surgical tubing around it so no dirt/dust/water gets in when it makes contact....

You are correct.... I have one (2xRED), another (2xBLACK) and lastly (1xRED/1xBLACK).. that way I don't get the wires mixed up... I wish I had a different colour though.. I wish Castle would sell their wires in bulk.. And Lutach, I'm picking up the Rampage MT 4x4 in 5 hours :).... can't wait to get this thing going....
