Down to three

Losi or Mugen or X-ray.Truggy

nitrostarter 09.11.2009 04:00 PM

Buggy I'm assuming? Truggy maybe?

Losi for quality as well as availability.

RC-Monster Mike 09.11.2009 04:19 PM

I think XRay is the top dog in overall quality - followed very closely by Mugen. Losi isn't in quite the same class as XRay or Mugen in this category(Losi is good, but Mugen excellent and XRay is the gold standard). Losi is likely the most "available", followed by Mugen. Either of the 3 can win on race day.

I know your working on a x-ray kit what up your sleeve.

RC-Monster Mike 09.11.2009 04:27 PM

My arm. :)

RC-Monster Mike 09.11.2009 04:28 PM

MBX6 kit in the works as well FYI.

bcltoys 09.11.2009 04:32 PM

That's what wanted to here. Cool.

lambchops 09.11.2009 04:52 PM

MBX6 for me!! No way Losi is in the same league when it comes to quality

BrianG 09.11.2009 05:14 PM

I've got a question about general build quality of the Xray. I have an XRay XT8, which I got brand new (from eBay) CVDs/cups. I also have an Ofna Hyper 8 buggy. I've noticed the dogbone pins and the slot in the outdrive cups wear a lot faster on the XRay than the Ofna. Of course, the drivetrain strain on a buggy is a lot less than a truggy, but was curious what people thought of the "Hudy" parts on the XRay. Other than that, I don't see a whole lot of quality difference really.

bcltoys 09.11.2009 07:00 PM

So if i get a X-ray or a Mugen and you guys get your parts straight i wont be disappointed.Right.

emaxxnitro 09.11.2009 07:38 PM

well this is my rundown.
get what your lhs stocks parts for.
i can almost guarantee that they have losi parts.
my lhs carries losi and mugen and soon xray. but if your a inet buyer then the xray is going to be tops followed closely buy mugen then losi
hey Brian my drive pins are worn out too...
what other truggy shafts fit the xt8 besides hudy?

I am not very familiar with xray, but can say that my various ofna hyper products (7 8 and st) are better than any of the losi, HB, hpi, jammin, mugen and pretty much anything else I have played with. Their mechanical stuff just lasts, and the plastic parts are very well made too. Maybe just me but I like the hyper line.

emaxxnitro 09.11.2009 07:45 PM

BTW if you manage to break a xray or mugen the price of parts is insane!
losi parts are cheaper

Bondonutz 09.11.2009 08:57 PM

X-RAY
My 2 cents;
I never owned a Hyper/Hobao/Ofna until my new purchase of the Hyper 9E, I'm thoroughly impressed with qaulity and fit of parts. The assembly is second to none of all the RTR's and ARTR's I've bought. There was copius amounts of lock tight where needed and not a loose screw on the entire buggy. The diffs where filled to the proper level, the hard anodized stuff looks top notch and the plastics are showing a lot of promise also.

Does anyone know if the X-ray 09 spec kit come with tires and wheels.

ClodMaxx 09.12.2009 09:56 PM

i would hope so... the old ones did, i sure can't imagine the new ones don't...

speedslave 09.12.2009 11:34 PM

Thats a big NO.
No wheels/tires! in the 09 spec kit.

Any plans on a D8T kit?

SV6000, Kyosho didn't engineer the ST-RR correctly. IMO, you don't fix a track width issue with extended hubs.

You make the arms longer. I think Kyosho are in the pipeline of making a new ST that has all the proper upgrades.

It was like the 777 SP1 & SP2, the 1 was crap as they addressed all the issues on the 2.
There were a lot of Kyosho drivers that ditched the 1 for the 2 as soon as it was released due to the improvements.

Don't get me wrong, they are great cars.

I just think their R&D is slipping.
