Link to an italian forum...

I guess you mean soldering, not welding. Right?

Cheers

galaxy76 09.25.2009 11:41 AM

yes, right

Marvin 09.25.2009 12:50 PM

I've seen people solder their RX8s that way, and you're only turning the wire 90 degrees, it should be fine.

brushlessboy16 09.27.2009 01:28 PM

Just heatshrink?

Bondonutz 09.27.2009 03:24 PM

Us English only speaking forum members are having some difficultys understanding the point ?

auto2 10.27.2009 08:08 PM

he means soldering the wires parallel and on top instead of at a 90 degree angle too the prongs.
i think i like it ! easy to cover with heat shrink that way.

brushlessboy16 10.27.2009 08:26 PM

Doesnt make much of a difference.

Am I the only one that just sees a white square?

No, That's all I see too!

auto2 10.27.2009 08:41 PM

i dont even see a white square lol guess a pick didnt load right

brushlessboy16 10.27.2009 08:44 PM

My guess is that its the youtube link to tekin's "how to solder the rx8" video

ticklechicken 10.27.2009 08:49 PM

I currently have my Tekin hardwired. I bought some 6.5mm bullets to add, but I'm a little confused on where to add them. I want to add the bullets in the middle of the wires, but then the three bullets will hit each other while driving. What are others doing about this? I don't think heat shrink is durable enough to survive that long.

I want to use those bullets so I can swap motors with my MMM combo in my Revo.

TekinTeamMgr 10.27.2009 08:58 PM

sorry wrong link

Double layer the heat shrink ?

BrianG 10.27.2009 09:31 PM

There we go, no more white square. That white square video was interesting though, I was engrossed for about 20 minutes. Just kidding with you Tekin

Like Bondo said, you can double up on the heatshrink, or get shrink with a 2:1 or even 3:1 shrink ratio and get a larger size than you need. When it shrinks, the walls also get thicker which provides more insulation. BUt I really don't think you need to worry, I've used single layer regular shrink in every setup and it's fine. It might help to zip-tie the wires to something solid to keep them from bouncing around though. Not only does this help prevent wear, it also makes less stress on the solder joints and wires.

Snipin_Willy 10.27.2009 09:54 PM

Was that a copper heat sink in the video?

sabongi 10.28.2009 09:29 AM

it´s not what the manual says. There the wires are soldered horizontally.

sabongi 10.28.2009 09:35 AM

from tekin rx8 manual:

TekinTeamMgr 10.28.2009 11:23 AM

If you listen to the video I wired in that vertical direction for "shot" purposes. I wire mine just as you've shown in the picture/manual.

WARNING!!!! I think the link in the first post has a virus. I opened it and looked at one of the pics. After that my pc went to hell. The pic opened then flashed and then an "antivirus" scan started. Now my bitdefender is trashed and my pc is a brick.

The linked worked fine for me. Maybe one of the banners might have a link to a virus (I'm not computer savy at all). How secure did you set your settings to? Do you have or use the pop up blocker? Do you update your antivirus with the latest updates?

JAILBIRD 10.28.2009 06:17 PM

Anything is possible, but I didn't click on any of the banners, just a few of the pics to enlarge them. The anitvirus on my computer is all up to date with very high settings (my boss keeps the network pretty secure, and yes, this was my computer at work ). It is possible the virus came from somewhere else, but I just wanted to allert people to the possibility of a problem. Whatever this virus is, it took over my entire computer, and a complete re-format is my only option. Now when I start the computer, it does an endless loop of starting up and shuttng down. When I try to start in safe mode, I get a blue screen error.

This sucks.

BrianG 10.28.2009 06:28 PM

Well, it could simply be a coincidence. Could be faulty memory, or something similar. Use a tool like Memtest86 (IIRC). It creates a bootable floppy and stresses each mem location. And if the mem is bad and you replace it, you might still have to reformat because data from the bad mem might have corrupted the data on the drive.

or just throw the PC out the window and get an 

Trust me, I would if I could! My boss is anti-apple. All I use at home are Apples. It hurt to go buy one of those cheap netbooks but I needed it so I can run my castle link and hotwire out in the field. That's about the only use I have for a pc. Hell, I'm even posting this from an iPhone.

I recently decided to redo my wiring for the RX8 so that it's hardwired to the motor. I managed to solder all but the + terminal. I tin post and when i try to connect the wire the solder on the post doesn't want to melt, I'm using a Goot 80w iron, do i need more watts?

whitrzac 11.16.2009 01:28 PM

did you tin the wire? is the tip on the iron clean?(AKA shiny)

mocky 11.16.2009 06:54 PM

yes and yes. I've found a way around the problem, there wasnt enough contact with the soldering iron and post so i found a small chisel tip so i could slot it between the posts and heatsink of the ESC. Left me a bit frustrated, but relieved it got done without any damage, I only wish the slot in the post was slight larger and more space from the heatsink.
