Help with a battery choice... Neu XP 25c or the Hyperion g3 vx 35c... BUT

Ok I'm swaping my truggy to a 4s config for next year racing as I'm going to run the Castle Neu 1y instead of the 2.5d I've been running w/ 5s lipo this year. The main reason for this is long a-mains, I have a 4s 9k SMC pack I can run and get 22+ mins on in a 4s config. Nothing 5s can touch it that is realistic. I want two more packs for qualifiers and practice though and I'm looking at 6500mAH packs only.... My two choices: for 264 shipped I can get some Neu Energy 6500XP 14.8v packs OR I spend a bunch more for the Hyperion G3 VX 14.8v 6500 35c packs.. bout 360 shipped.

Just wondering if the G3 packs are worth spending 100.00 more on..

Thoughts wanted.. Thanks!!

PS same basic footprint but the G3 packs are 30grams heavier as well

Honestly, I would opt for the Hyperions. I have run the 5500's in my G4 maxx and everything runs cool. After 30 minutes of bashing the packs are 103-108F consistently. The power is intense and more the the Turnigy packs I ran, which temped at 130F when finished 30 minutes of bashing.

I'm not sure if comparing NeuEnergy and Turnigy is even close to fair... I have some turnigy 30c packs and they can't take 1/2 the abuse the Neu 25c's do. I have a 4s 5k Neu XP I run in my 8ight-e and that pack is pushing 2yrs old and runs like a monster still.

Thanks for your thoughts though

Those Neu Energy packs are Enerland packs I assume? If so, the G3's are more than worth it, they should last alot longer, provide you with intense punch, and are just a better/newer cell chemistry plain and simple.

Ask Mike, he will say the same.

EDIT: Plus you can charge them at 5C, and I do charge them at 5C everytime I use them! 20 amps for the 2x 3s/4200mah VX packs. I must have done ~70 cycles on them by now, I use them multiple times per day and charge them right after each use, and out I go again... they never get over a few degrees over ambient (10 degrees tops) the whole time.

stum 10.07.2009 07:29 AM

The main reason it's a question is I can basically by 3 of the Neu packs for the price of two of the G3's. I was still leaning myself toward the g3's but not 100% sold not having used them and having good experience w/ my other NeuEnergy XP pack.

nitrostarter 10.07.2009 10:44 AM

If you like the NeuEnergy, then thick with it. Its a great pack as well.

I personally would pick the Hyperions tho as their service to me is top notch in my setups.

Got the Hyperion g3's for 350 shipped, pair of the 6500's I'm pretty happy.. NOW they better perform and for a couple seasons! LOL In NY race season is short so if they are better than the Neu packs, it shouldn't be an issue.

Hi
on which voltage cutoff are you running your hyperion packs?

zeropointbug 10.07.2009 06:08 PM

Nice man, you won't be disappointed with them, they will serve you well even if you don't.

reel, you would want to use a voltage cutoff of no less than 3.2, and 3.4 - 3.5 is preferable for these as these newer packs just hold so much voltage, so you can increase the cutoff the better a pack is, IMO. But, it also depends on your setup as well, when you are geared high and use alot of WOT, or if your pack is not over sized for the application you may want lower the cutoff.

I'm kinda late to the party but I run two Neu XP 2s 5000 packs in my Mugen and have been very happy. I used the same style 2s pack in my SC10 and it had great power in there too. I also had a 4s pack of the same style and ended up selling that to my buddy with a 8ight and it was night and day difference from his Losi 4s hardcase lipo.

I love these lipos and I can charge them at up to 5C as well, but most of the time I only charge at 2C since my 1210i can only go that high anyway. I'd really like to upgrade my charger soon so I can charge these batts in 10 min! With two complete pack setups, I could run all day long! I'm looking forward to getting some of the v3 gx packs since they're only about $20 more per 2s 5000 pack for the 25C cells and $30-$35 more for the 35C packs.

Can't wait to get more goodies :D

Most of the amoxicillin is clavamox liquid excreted unchanged in the urine. Clavulanic acid’s penetration into spinal fluid is unknown at this time. Approximately 15% of the administered dose of clavulanic acid is excreted in the urine within the first 6 hours. Clavamox combines the tetracycline and amoxicillin distinctive properties of a broad-spectrum antibiotic and a ?-lactamase inhibitor to effectively extend the antibacterial spectrum of amoxicillin to include ?-lactamaseproducing as well as non-?-lactamase-producing aerobic and anaerobic organisms. The susceptibility of these organisms has also been demonstrated in clavamox 375 mg, vivo studies. Studies have demonstrated that both aerobic and anaerobic flora are isolated from gingival cultures of dogs with clinical evidence of peridontal disease. Both gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic and clavamox canine reactions, isolates indicate sensitivity to amoxicillin/ clavulanic acid during antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

:neutral::oh: what

Anyway stumblin how are the G3s doing? I just got myself a shiny 4200mah 35c VX G3 I get about 17minutes on the track.

Ellwood BL 04.03.2010 04:11 PM

Curious to you guys running the Neu packs, when you charged them at 5C did you notice a drop in performance? I have the Neu 5S XP 5500 and a Zippy 5S 5000 that are both 25C. When I got the Zippy, I also got the Icharger 208B. I was still charging the packs both at 1C and they ran very similar. When I started charging the Neu at 20 amps, it doesn't seem to have the punch or top speed of what it was. Just asking you guys if you were seeing the same results. Not trying to start a good/bad discussion on Zippys since people are so opinionated as it is.

Wow! Where? I ordered mine from allerc got a good price but not that good.

I thought Stumblin would have caught up to this thread by now. Whatever. I don't mind.

stum 04.05.2010 12:01 PM

sorry guys.. I've had limited use and no real race conditions on my 8ights yet.. our track doesn't open until next week for test n' tune. Then the following week racing begins. Gotta love NY

Atleast once I can get something cheaper than US guys. Hyperion is also coming out with 45C lipos this month. But probably 5000mAh max.

Jahay 04.12.2010 02:12 PM

vort3x you legend... thanks for the link to those lipos! I bought 2 3s 35c batteries... And dont say anything! I prefer running 2 3s... i also bought a 2s so i can run 5s if i want.

ANYWAY! thanks a lot for that... i nearly bought the turnigys replicas from Hongkong but this was a much better decision!
