Suggest gearing for 9L on 14 cells and UE diffs
topic says it all. I got tired of waiting for a 8Xl to be in stock so im getting a 9L and 9920.
I'll get the 8XL later. |
I would say 18/66 on 32 pitch.
or do you use mod1?

18/66 is WAY to high. its more like 14/66
Iwas thinking about a 15 66 squee. 14 don't sound bad. ;)
I ran 16/66 when I had it, then switched to 14/51.
oops:007: i didnt see the ue diffs part...about 16/66 for ue diffs.
How come, My HV-maxx ran fine pulling wheelies in 2nd on 18/66?
And im sure the hv maxx is less of a motor than the 9l. |
the 9l will have a higher kv under load than the hv since its sensorless and the 9l will pull some serious amps under load with a high gearing were as the hv will just thermal like usual :p
You just keep on running it emaxx kid. If it works for you then it is good. I fried one like that. Hey you could get a real brushless then. :D
I have a 7xl/9920 on 16 IB3800's :)

A 7xl on 16 cells probably smokes most stuff. It is a good motor.
CHC, woudnt a 10L beat it on 16 cells? But i bet runtime and heat would be an issue.
Certainly does smoke it:028:
I am not sure. they are close in the kv rating. The 7xl has more torque though. The 10L should get longer run time. I think the 7xl would beat in every where else though. If you can keep tires on ground. :D
Actually, the 7XL will be more efficient at a given power output. Therefore if geared to give the same speed, the 7XL will be more efficient. In practise it might be different though
is 20/66 ok for my 7xl on 16(new to this)
No, that is overgeared, id try a 16 t.
Hmm its really cold at the moment im sure i can get away with the 20T?
I ran mine with a 22 66 on 18cells it got warm though. I wanted to try a 24 66 gearing as well. I had some tall tires on the truck.
Hows the 7xl run on 18 coolhand was tempted but thought it was'nt really capable of handling it.
E maxx kid, are you running a stock spur on yours or a strobe? If its stock hows it holding up?
Stock seems to hold fine, never stripped it, made sure it cant slip may invest in a stobe later though, just to give me some more options for gearing.
It ran great as far as power and stuff. It got hot. I think it did great on 16 cause less heat problems
And prety fast too!
At least as fast as the plettenberg bigmaxximum imo.. |
E-Maxx-kid- I run the same 7xl on 16 IB3800's, but use a 18120 controller. My maxx weighs right at or over 12lbs RTR. I use UE diffs( so it adds 2 teeth to the pinion vversus stock diffs) and I'm running 18/51. I also have a 16T I want to try out. I would have had a 20T also but Mike was out of them. 18/51 is insane on 16cells, although the motor will reach about 150-165 degrees after a run, other than that everything else is good.
O, my other problem is staying off the body and grinding my antenna in half. For some reason I keep flipping onto it body and it slides, catching the antenna under the body, and it grinds the tube and wire in half. |
