Wing mount on flm towers
 

Hey guys,

Does anyone know of a wing mount that will directly bolt on the FLM towers? Tower are on the way and I was hoping shock mounting holes might do the trick.

i it will. dace makes some towers for a wing if you cant make something.

Can't figure it out. Been working with Mike and others here, but I still have no idea what the problem is.:mad:1

PS. I've got the old style gorillamaxx towers, and although I havn't tried it, 4 of the shock mounting holes line up almost in the exact same way as the Dace holes for the wing mount. As for the FLM towers, I doubt you'll be able to get a tower attached to it...

I was thinking of mounting a wing as well. I think mike is supposed to get some dace towers in. So you can get them and mount a muegen wing mount right to it.

That's cool. My FLM's are already on the way so I will probably mod something up.

It was/is Mike is going to take a look at my setup for me, hopefully we can figure it out.

have you thought of trying the stock chassis to see if that gets rid of the problem? something might be grounding out on it or something.

Have you check to see if your motor screws are to long. It would short out and cause it to draw to many amps.

true. i was actually thinking about something like that. i have heard that if a motor goes bad sometimes it will fry the controller and the batteries.

Interesting idea. I put two layers of shrink under anything that was in contact with the chassis, but I just may have to try it. Only problem is I think both controllers are gone. I know one leg on a cap of the 12020 is gone.

I used the stock mounting screws. Are they too long?

Did you feel resistance as the screw was almost fully in (before it was actually all the way on)? If you have a Dremel, you could shorten them a millimeter or two.

If you have a stock mount and a clamp probably not. It may be close though. If you look thru the hole of the motor where the screw goes does it look like it has contacted the winding.

actually they might be. pull it off and check it with a magnefying glass. that might be your problem.

It may be real close. I remember you saying that it did good at first and then started. It may be just barely touching it. After you ran it some it has made full contact. could try a extra couple washers on the screws.

Man that is difficult to see. I do not see any signs of contact, but it is a possibility. When I mount it next time I'll add a couple of washer just to make sure.

(back on topic) which towers do you have coming? these or these? i looked in the e-maxx section and its the old ones. the new ones look like they have holes for a wing...

Hey I have the older type but that new type looks awesome. I may have to trade out for them. I have to ebay the old ones. It does look to have the wing mount made in squee. I am not sure the type it would take.

Thanks guys. The towers are on the way, so they will be the new style. I was hoping someone else had already done it. A direct bolt on would be a lot cleaner than something I mod.

I think I will pick up a MBX5 mount and try it out.

(back off topic) try and tap the shaft with a mallet or something and look at the windings and the rotor. check to see if there is a burnt smell or black in there...

No burnt smell. I did not take it apart. I will let Mike do that.
