What charge rate for the flat LiFe packs?

Just bought one of these: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...C_LiFePo4_Pack

And was wondering what rate I could charge it at? I am guessing it should handle 2c fine, and I am not sure if my 1210I will do more than 2c rates anyways. The charger is good for 180 watts, so 4c would be about the max on 2s.

Just wondering...

You could ask the experts......>>>>>MA. I'm pretty sure Jason would love to hear from you .

BP-Revo 11.17.2009 07:10 PM

lutach I'm sure the MA guys love you too.

scarletboa 11.17.2009 07:11 PM

according to MA, you can charge at 15c....

magman 11.17.2009 07:34 PM

Is there anything special about these?

sikeston34m 11.17.2009 07:36 PM

It says you can charge at 5C. That's 22.5 amps.

I just got some of these myself. My charger won't go 5C either, but it will go 10 amps.

I charged them at 10 amps and they didn't seem to mind at all.

t-maxxracer32 11.17.2009 08:15 PM

i bought the exact same pack and will be charging them at 10 amps with my 1210i.

they look like theyre gonna be some sick batteries!

excited to get them

sikeston34m 11.17.2009 08:25 PM

I gave a first run review in the Lifepo4 thread.

I have the same charger as you and use an Equinox balancer. My balancer can only handle up to 6 amps...so what balancer are you using to be able to handle 10amps?

MetalMan 11.17.2009 10:43 PM

LBA10 here (x2 for up to 12s), which is also made to interface with the 1210i. The Equinox is pretty much the older Hyperion LBA6 balancer.

can handle 10 amps if im not mistaken

Is there a real need to balance these? 2s with decent cells usually stay in balance pretty well? I had planned to not draw them very hard, 2 stock brushed motors and low gearing. Mainly bought the pack as LiFe really does not need a lvc.

t-maxxracer32 11.18.2009 02:39 AM

since these are in a 2p setup wouldnt you need to balance it?

i could understand not balancing 1p but idk

lincpimp 11.18.2009 02:53 AM

The 2p cells will not benifit from balancing, as that only affects the series wired cells (or cell pairs in a 2p config). Hopefully the cells are matched well, and I will not be drawing them very hard. We will see, I will give them a test and keep track of the 1st few cycles.

I ordered two of those for the Tamiya TL-01 revival I'm working on. It's for my 5 year old boy. Thanks for the link.... linc. Or do you prefer I address you by your full name? Or Mr. pimp? Can I call you lp? :mdr:

You can call me sally if you like! I hope these packs are sturdy and can handle some un-monitored discharges... I run alot of lipos without lvcs, but in fast stuff you easily see the performance drop. Slow stuff does not really show the drop till it is almost too late...

Another player in the Life cells, but lets see if the S boys will go MA style on prices: http://www.redrc.net/2009/11/speed-p...of-life-packs/. They offer the choices I mentioned before. Looks like MA is lacking behind and have they gone a bit quiet? I'll be posting this at similar threads in here, so in advanced.....SORRY FOR SPAMMING.

BrianG 11.20.2009 04:24 PM

How many different threads are you gonna copy/paste that info?

Work, keeping me busy. I need to break out the xxx-cr buggy and get a motor and speedo in there. Thinking novak 5.5 with a MM, geared for 50 or so!!! Little buggy weighs less than 3lbs, so it should fly!

I know how that is.

I usually get home about 4:30, then eat supper.

Plans were to slide my Lifepo4 packs over into my E Revo, and take it for a run with the MMM and the Medusa.

But...........it's already dark outside now. My tummy's full though. LOL

Supper was good. Fried Chicken Breasts, mashed taters, stuffing, and green beans. Mmm...

I'll get some more runtime in over the upcoming holiday, for sure.

lincpimp 11.23.2009 11:09 PM

I plan to get the lst and muggy running so that I can play with them on thurs at the MIL's house. Then I will get the buggy running to give the LiFe cells a try. The lst will run the zippy 40c 5k 6s pack, hope it performs!
