Still looks great after a whole years abuse

Popoxx 11.29.2009 07:53 AM

The build thread has started in November but the truck was RTR only in May...
I just used it about ten times
We will see if it will still look great after a bash session in a skate park

These are common tire/rim setups for these 1/10-scale MTs
And I like these setups, work great. I don't like huge tires such as 40 series ones. Personal choice, hey !

Unsullied_Spy 12.19.2009 07:09 PM

It's common, in that picture they just looked small. It really is personal preference, I like my tires HUGE.

huge tires, huge.............

Popoxx 12.19.2009 07:24 PM

Please don't post pics here ! :mdr:

shaunjohnson 12.20.2009 07:09 PM

ive been thinking about a new set of bash tyres, the talons never ware out but are made from thin rubber and tear off the rims.
wanting some 40 series mashers but have to think of a way to prevent ballooning (tape is no good), thought about cutting a few slits in them and running a ring of fishing line around them in the slits made in the tread, thus concealing the line from damage and providing a strong anti-ballooning device.

Popoxx 12.21.2009 06:43 PM

Zack taped his 40 series Mashers and he says there is no ballooning :http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...=19881&page=23 (post 342). As you can see there are already some slits so it will be easy to install fishing lines or sturdy rubber bands.

I will soon test new bash tires : IMEX Swamp Dawg (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWFW0) still with Maximizer beadlocks.

New vid !!

It was cold outside (again...) but I couldn't resist :mdr:
Enjoy  : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_X_Gdy2tD4.

Broken parts :
- Rear bumper mount
- Body
- Tool box

And no stripped spur gear thanks to the HPP bracket

suicideneil 03.08.2010 02:25 PM

Sweet, I need to take mine down the woods in the summer when its warmer, much more varied terrain

And its not cold... its bloody freezing!

Kcaz25 03.08.2010 09:58 PM

The video is great Popoxx as always! The truck looks good I look forward to seeing the interior shots.

Bondonutz 03.08.2010 10:14 PM

Shweet video, lots of obstacles with all them trees, but nice jumps !

Popoxx 03.09.2010 10:49 AM

Thanks guys

My ERBE made friends with lots of trees of this spot but my bank account doesn't like them

I'm going to change the look of my ERBE and to strengthen it, I hope I could post pics by mid-April Zack.

Can't wait the vid of your beast you promised neil ! The MT you're building looks awesome and I'm sure it's really funny to drive it :mdr:

New look !! :yipi:

I needed new lipo packs (and therefore a new chassis) so I decided to change the look of my ERBE as well ! Here is the result :

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070426B.jpg

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070390B.jpg

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070393B.jpg

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070417B.jpg

What's new !

- Turnigy 5000mAh 2s 20C hardcase lipo packs
- Black died chassis/rockers
- RC Solutions black rollcage
- Home-made rear brace
- FullForce RC carbon pushrods
- HPP motor bracket prototype

I replaced my SMC 6000mAh 2s 28C lipo packs because they lost their power and puffed during charge and discharge. So I decided to test the cheap Turnigy packs :

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...1060548B-1.jpg

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060555B.jpg

Popoxx 05.19.2010 10:02 AM

Black chassis ! Simple, common mod and great result  :

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060696B.jpg

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060760B.jpg

I cut and dremel these spots to install my lipo packs :

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060699B.jpg

To protect the wires and to reinforce the chassis/bulk spots I bought a rollcage (4 months to get it due to post office malfunctioning...). Looks really strong and easy to install (don't forget threadlock). I raised a bit the body so that it doesn't rub too much against the rollcage :

Popoxx 05.19.2010 10:03 AM

I had bought FullForce RC pushrods a long time ago. Traxxas optional pushrods are great, I just wanted to test the carbon ones :mdr: They are really lighter ! Carbon pushrods vs Traxxas (desanodized) tubes :

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060735B.jpg

I found some liquid tape to cover the worn motor wires (finally !), excellent product :

Hope you like it ! I will make a vid really soon !

bigsteel 05.19.2010 10:14 AM

The cage looks sweet! It's freaking beefy! I've tried those CF pushrods and didn't like'em , unless your trying to shave as much weight as possible they arent worth it to me. I SHATTERED my set off a 6ft jump with 50wt shock fluid, I went back to lunsford Ti versions--Josh

medicineman 05.20.2010 03:31 AM

Nice truck, look great

what knid of motor mount is that

suicideneil 05.20.2010 12:12 PM

Heres the thread for that motor support bracket thingy:

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25060

That erevo looks bitchin' thanks to that cage and dye-job, rarely seen such evidence of bashing that severe...

Popoxx 05.20.2010 12:37 PM

You're wrong neil this ERBE is a shelf-queen !!

... just kidding

I will be wise I swear

Thanks for your kind words medicineman & bigsteel. The motor mount is a prototype, the final version will be available soon I hope ! Concerning the carbon pushrods we'll see, I just wanted to test them
But if they can't hold out a 6ft jump, I keep my Traxxas tubes in the tool box !

bigsteel 05.20.2010 02:20 PM

The push rods may have just been a fluke or a bad set,but I'm 6ft tall and they passed eye level and sploded on impact!LOL,I hope you have better luck than I did ,though they look slick while they are in one piece!--Josh

Bondonutz 05.20.2010 02:52 PM

I've ben looking at your threads of your E-trucks and I admire them and especially the nice photography. Excellent pics !
Wish I had such nice woodsy backgrounds to work with. I'm really liking how you have set your trucks up with no all glam and glitter, just the stuff needed to make them tough but with subtle tones of coolness.

Heres one of my ERevos;http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23008

A long vid of 2 bashing sessions with pdcsq , another French Traxxas/RCM forum member (my ERBE has the blue body) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuDRsR2IgH0.

Breakages :

0:00 : New spot (Devil's spot...:whip:) - Popoxx E-Maxx and ERBE.
- Popoxx E-Maxx : Integy front lower arm, 2 Big Bore shocks, 2 bellcrank posts, steering bellcrank.
- pdcsq Flux : pinion looseness, MMM bug.

1:54 : Classic spot - pdcsq E-Maxx (darkmaxx) and Popoxx ERBE
- Popoxx ERBE : one shock rod end
- pdcsq E-Maxx : one servo

4:45 : New spot (BMX track) - pdcsq E-Maxx/Stampede/HPI Flux and Popoxx ERBE
- Popoxx ERBE : one rear axle carrier w/ bearings
- pdcsq Flux : one battery mount + damaged battery
- pdcsq E-Maxx : front bulk and lower arm
- pdcsq Stampede : bent battery

The ERBE was the most durable haha

The FullForce RC carbon pushrods hold out Josh

Bondonutz 05.30.2010 03:46 PM

Great video !

The Erevo was def the best jumper of the bunch, handles the landings and was more stable. Good Job.

blueb8llz 06.02.2010 01:40 AM

i enjoyed the video. thanks

Popoxx 07.31.2010 07:42 AM

New lipo packs !

As the Turnigy 2S 20C 5000mAh packs aren't really powerful I wanted to test new packs. I've chosen the ProTek 2S 50C 5600mAh packs (link).

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070832B.jpg

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070833B.jpg

Perfect fit ! :

With my previous mod for the Turnigy packs I just needed to dremel the spot below not to damage the connectors :

My ERBE currently :

suicideneil 08.01.2010 11:21 AM

Hmm, hope those work well for you, kinda pricey @ $100 for a 2s pack.

New vid !!

My first session in a skate park with my BL E-Revo ! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toV-xtvfT6Y (I hope the quality will be soon better...).

Breakages :

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1080016B.jpg
FullForceRC carbon pushrods are junk... I broke two of them today, the carbon holds out but not the alu threaded part. So I keep the Traxxas optional pushrods ! One of my pivot ball pops out the axle carrier, I decided to reinstall the stock ones with alu rings (they weren't released when I had installed the RPM ones). You can notice the RPM bearings suffered a bit

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1080013B.jpg
^^ this was the reason of a clicking sound I had since several sessions. It's the yoke of my front center driveshaft.

The ERBE is really sturdy on concrete, skids suffer but no worries !
My ProTek packs are great, long runtime (30-40 minutes), nice temps, no balancing problem, and they seem reliable, we will see if they are durable

Can't wait my vacations next week :yipi:

Bondonutz 08.08.2010 06:29 PM

Pretty cool video, I like the ones where you bash in the woods better tho.

I think your ball popped out because you didn't install the metal rings from the stock carriers. See pic

Popoxx 08.08.2010 07:10 PM

Thanks Bondonutz ! Skate park is funny sometimes, my vids take place too often in the forest, people need change

In fact I used the RPM axle carriers, I installed those you linked I bought a long time ago. Sorry if my explanations weren't clear

Bondonutz 08.08.2010 07:24 PM

Not sure if were on the same page ?

The metal rings from the stock carriers must be removed and installed on the RPM carriers or the balls will pop out.

Popoxx 08.09.2010 01:12 AM

Confusion confusion

These metal rings are not metal rings but plastic rings require to use the inner bearing of the previous Traxxas axle carriers which didn't have built-in metal rings around the pivot balls. And RPM carriers don't use the same bearings so these plastic rings are useless here. I hope all is clear now !
