Don't use the slow shipping from HC

I ordered and paid for my item (A BL motor XL 1100KV) on the 10th of Nov.

Received email from HC that my item shipped on the 11th, I was happy because that was fairly quick:yipi:

Well, after several days then over a week went by without any tracking info I was starting to wonder ?

Just tracked it again this morning for the first news in 16 freakin' days !

"Your item left HONG KONG AIR MAIL CENTRE, HONG KONG on November 27, 2009. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later."

So it's probably still over a week or two away from arrival ??

I'm not in a hurry, but I seriously think from now on I'll spend the few extra bucks to upgrade the shipping. The thing I find odd is that I've used this cheaper shipping service prior and have received items in 9-10 days from leaving the warehouse. Poop ?

Lauri 11.28.2009 10:12 AM

Usually it moves smoothly. I ordered one package from HobbyKing with the cheaper option - probably Priority Mail or smth (not EMS). It came under 2 weeks to Europe. But I ordered on the same day from RCMART with same shipping and it was in processing for 3 weeks... in HK Postal office... for 3 weeks... in processing! And then it came in a week, after it was actually shipped out. I checked the tracking basically every day and couldn't belive it :)

Don't know if sellers are s*rewing with us or the HK postal office. Haven't seen such things before. Usually cheap registered priority mail works nice!

I had a similiar experience and ever since, have always chosen the quicker shipping.

I wonder if they hold up the boat until the cargo hold is full? LOL

For whatever reason, it's worth paying the extra IMO.

I agree..I always use faster shipping

FastXR 11.28.2009 01:27 PM

Weird I haven't had an issue shipping with cheaper option from HC, most items show up in the 1-2 week range, I think the longest was 2 1/2 weeks.

t-maxxracer32 11.28.2009 01:34 PM

i ordered a few batteries a little over a week ago and they came to me wednesday.. took only a week to get it to me and i used the 2nd to cheapest shipping method

i was happy

Metallover 11.28.2009 01:34 PM

My first order took over a month to arrive. After that experience I always use the EMS option.

_paralyzed_ 11.28.2009 01:43 PM

well, I have more time than money, so the cheap shipping works for me. It took like a month and a half for me to get my kb45. But I got it and I saved on shipping.

To each their own.

simplechamp 11.28.2009 01:45 PM

I recently ordered some ceramic diff balls from HK. Like most of you guys I pretty much always use EMS Express, and have never had any problems. Well, since the diff balls were only around $10 I chose the standard air mail and it took almost a month to get here. Supposedly they are bogged down with packages, but who knows whats going on, here is what the seller sent me:

"Hi Jason,
Sorry to inform you, your parcel will be delayed, I arranged your parcel by HONGKONG POST on 31st,OCT. Tracking no.:RT038927749HK,I tracked the parcel yesterday and found the parcel still in HONGKONG waiting for the airplane.
I send email to HK POST service center last night concerning your parcel, their reply is:from September,HK post receive a plenty of international airmail parcels requests, the quantity is beyond their working capacity,so a lot of parcels were waiting for ship, they did some action to fix this problem, for example they rent airplane by themself to ship the parcels to somewhere. But it is still slow. They asked me to be more patient on this.
So I think you need wait more days for the parcel, but I think you will receive it before 20th,Nov. I will send email when the parcel have update information. Sorry again."

wallot 11.28.2009 03:03 PM

There is just not enough planes to Europe, US and Australia from HongKong. HK post office expects delays up to 2 weeks.
EMS is not affected.

junkman 11.28.2009 03:10 PM

I usually always use the slow method, and it has take up to almost a month in 1 occasion. I had an order that was stuck in "processing" for almost 2 weeks, I got on the live message deal and it ended up being something screwy with paypal. They cancelled that order and set me up another one just like it, I paid while on line with them. The order went right out after that. I still don't really understand what the problem was, but it arrived in the usual couple weeks after that.

redshift 11.28.2009 03:18 PM

The stuff is so cheap, shelling out for fast shipping is still well worth it.

mistercrash 11.28.2009 03:26 PM

Living in Canada, I am used to that sort of delay. I have paid for 4 day shipping before just to receive the item 2 weeks later because it was held at the border. I have paid for faster shipping to send items to other people and they had to wait because it was held at the border. I don't waste my money anymore and just learned to be patient. The worst I have ever experienced was 3 and a half months for a sheet of carbon fiber. When I got it, it wasn't even the one I paid for

Oh crap... I just ordered a 300x100x2.5mm carbon sheet, I'll get mad if I have to wait 3 months.

The longest shipping I ever had (from everywhere, US, HK, AUS to the Netherlands) was about 1 month, so I'm a happy international customer

Lauri 11.28.2009 05:56 PM

That's bad news for cheap shipping. Guess its better to go EMS. 10$ more isn't that bad ;) + it means I get the package to my door, cheaper meens I have to go and get it myself.

Good info, simplechamp!

Bondonutz 12.03.2009 07:23 PM

Update

BrianG 12.03.2009 10:01 PM

Could it be the holiday season slowing things down? Lots more packages going around this time of year...

Metallover 12.03.2009 10:03 PM

I ordered speaker cable from monoprice for the school weightroom. Everyone chipped in a couple bucks. Chose UPS because it was much cheaper then the other options. I told everone it would be there today for tomorrow for sure. It niver came today, so it looks like next week now... Frustrating. It shipped out on friday..

Yeah, I figured as much. I'm not in a hurry but dam it's ben a while.

jpoprock 12.03.2009 11:00 PM

I bought some stuff from them on 11/27/09 and after reading this thread logged in to take a look. To my surprise, my order hasn't shipped and nothing is "reserved" for me. That means that now three of the lipos I wanted are out of stock, so... I'm screwed! I just emailed them.

I paid them via Pay Pal Pay Later, and it says that the payment has cleared. I received my Pay Pal card in the mail like two days later. I had hoped to use a Visa Gift card that I got to pay for the items, but they would only accept Pay Pal and I didn't have the cash on hand at the moment, so I went that route.

My fear is that since Xmas is coming, it'll take weeks for the batteries that I want to arrive in stock, and I won't get my main batteries until after Xmas. By then, the loving feeling will be more than gone! I refuse to pay twice as much for the same batteries elsewhere.

I used the EMS shipping too. I hope that was the right move!?

Jason

wallot 12.04.2009 03:30 AM

Well hard to say.
EMS from US took over two weeks to get here (standard time is 2-5)

I stopped all my shopping till about february till post gets back to normal :)

Bondonutz 12.04.2009 10:25 AM

Hey Jason,
Tonight after 930pm our time is when they open, use the Live Help IM and get to the bottom of your problem. They are quit helpful through this method of comunicado.

Cheer up Sunshine, the world as you know isn't over yet.

Duster_360 12.06.2009 08:02 PM

Do I understand the above correctly? I'm trying to place an order and when I get to Paypal stage and try to use a credit card, I keep getting "can't verify your credit card info" BS. There's nothing wrong with my card, I thought I'd used it this way before on a previous order, so has it changed - it's PP or nothing with HobbyCity??

redshift 12.06.2009 08:15 PM

Oh man I hope that's not the case.. I did an order with CC last time, a few months back.

I know the CC routes payment thru PP or something, but it did work for me last time....

Bondonutz 12.06.2009 08:46 PM

I should receive my Mill Monday it's at the main PO HQ. :yipi:
My LSP2 basher will be up and running again
Now I just have to see if this $45.00 motor is worth a shit ?

Thats what I was trying to do PP with CC, have tried it x2 today several hrs apart, each time same, "can't verify your CC info, pick another funding source". I could cave and PP from my bank, but I don't want to, that costs me any leverage I might have if theres a prob with the order.

Guess I'll try again early tomorrow and if its same deal, I'll call PP and ask why.

Update: After having card declined when I tried to pay for a Click-n-Ship label tonight, I realized it was my card. Seems like Chase flipped out when I tried to use it to buy some HobbyCity stuff this morning and placed a hold on the account. After letting them know very clearly what I thought of their stupidity, my account has been released. They haven't heard the last of this however. Last time when Visa pulled this crap on me, they got their stupid card back in lots of little bitty pieces.

simplechamp 12.14.2009 09:16 PM

Just an update for those ordering from HobbyCity during the holiday rush:

EMS Express still seems to be up to speed, at least for my most recent order. Ordered a pair of the Turnigy LiFePo4 packs on Dec. 10th, they shipped on the 11th, and arrived here in the U.S. on the 13th. Just waiting on pesky customs, which will probably be the biggest hold-up. They can get across the world in two days, but stuck a few hundred miles away from my house for a week!

So stick with the EMS Express and hopefully it will be smooth sailing. Others, keep updating this thread if/when you order so we can keep tabs on the situation.

I ordered a couple lipo's from them just before christmas and 6 days later had them in my hands. That's to canada, where it normally takes 2 weeks to get anything from the states. I was impressed!
