single servo setup..........but on a budget.

well just like the title says im looking for a single servo setup to replace my stock setup.... i think these are finally losing a little power and seem to have trouble self centering...

what are some affordable servos out there? i just cant convince my self to buy 100$ servo.

phildogg 12.19.2009 04:31 PM

Hitec 5645 is a decent servo for around 50.00
phil

brushlessboy16 12.19.2009 05:11 PM

What car. If there is room for a 1/4 scale servo go that route. If not check out hobby city's servos- very economical

http://hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store.../_.17sec_/_49g

equates to 180oz/in of tq.

plenty for your truck

Metallover 12.19.2009 05:36 PM

Hobbycity servos are awesome. You could afford a dual servo setup if you wanted. Check out the hxt 12kg servo while you're there. I've owned a bunch and they never have failed besides the mounts... use washers for sure. They are a litle noisy and power hogging, but they are strong and the metal gears won't strip. They cost under $8.

If you want to compete with hitecs and stuff get something like what BLBoy suggested. Those look really nice.

magman 12.19.2009 06:36 PM

You could always do what I did...bought a new $110- servo on RCTech for $70- shipped.

You can get great lightly used ones for $30-40 as well

magman 12.19.2009 06:41 PM

Something like this? http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-item...cs-servos.html

Novarider 12.19.2009 07:43 PM

I used a hitec 645mg on my 3.3 and it worked pretty well

BrianG 12.19.2009 08:30 PM

I like ACE servos personally. High torque/speed at not so high a price. Pretty beefy built too.

its going in a revo
i really like that servo think it has enough tq to push the revos tires around?

and brian i looked at aces website and saw a few but none that looked like they had the tq

jokerjustin 12.19.2009 09:12 PM

im not totally against deals with people ive just never had a good experience with it... i just like the comfort and security of going thu a company

How much torque do you need?? I use the 1013 in all my larger stuff, truggy included and it works perfectly fine. There is also a 1015 with even more torque.

 i was looking at the analog ones..... 90$ for a servo is hard to justify... but then again so is a 1000$ rc car.. i think im ganna give one of those hobbyking servos a shot and if not save up for the ace one...

are the splines the same as the one on the revo?

brushlessboy16 12.19.2009 09:38 PM

Traxxas have a 25t spline count, identical to Futaba. most of the HK servos have a futaba outputs so I would beleive they are drop in

I get those servos at my LHS around 10-15% lower in price. The site must just be showing MRSP. They aren't exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for. And even if the servo has a different horn than the stock Revo, you can either get the servo horn lit (has lots of horns for various servo companies), or just use the included horns and modify as necessary.

Let us know how those HK servos work, I'm curious.

sure will do.... think the 181 oz tq is enough? that just seems weak... i wonder what the traxxas ones are rated for?

BrianG 12.19.2009 11:16 PM

I think the stock 2055's are 80 oz-in, but not sure.

E-Revonut 12.19.2009 11:35 PM

If it's in an E-revo the stock waterproof servos are rated at 125oz/inch torque. I could never justify money on a servo myself but when I built a 1/8 truggy to race I figured I wasn't gonna skimp out on anything, I went with a Hitec 7955TG. Awesome servo and it will throw the tires around no matter what surface your on, even if you have the wheel wedged up against a wall it will push the wheel and the weight of the front end and it does it all so quickly! I understand that it's hard to justify....Until you have a good servo!

Urgeoner 12.20.2009 02:12 AM

I don't know, the reviews are pretty mixed on the HK servos: they state it centers pretty good, but it's very rough and noisy and not good for where precision is a factor (steering), but what the heck give it a try?
I use Hitec servos, and they are good thus far.

ditto.
although i dont think my ACE 1015 has the optimal amount of grunt. a little slow to turn the wheels at a stop but it seems to be going ok so far.

Beg to differ on that.

my ds1015 has seen a buggy, 2 revos, 10th scale's etc.

Has plenty of power to toss around MT wheels on all surfaces
