Savage 5T wheels?

bruce750i 12.21.2009 05:27 PM

Nice job Helly thats sweet! That drive shaft is huge! Is it a tail boom off of a heli or something else?

Popoxx 12.21.2009 05:52 PM

Looks good congrats ! :yipi:

The rear center driveshaft is huge ! Did you make it yourself ?
You won't use a skid to protect it ?

hyper9e 12.21.2009 07:50 PM

oh too cool...

JThiessen 12.21.2009 09:19 PM

Drive shaft looks like a piece of al tube pressed over the stock revo shafts.

They look like 5B rims, but that also looks like traxxas 17mm hubs - 5B has a 23mm hub I believe.

Traxxas hubs have the spline, and 5b's use a 24mm hub, either way its something custom:lol:

Ah - they do have the spline on them dont they. Yeah, that 23 was supposed to be 24.....

Nice job. I gotta post some pics of my Revo-5b. Made some changes, started on the cage since it was last seen.

I'm wondering about the 24mm hexes as well. More info please?

Just one small note:-

B = buggy
T = truggy

Looks good though, rather huge :mdr:

I see no spines on the hubs:neutral:

Helly 12.22.2009 02:55 AM

Thanks all for your interest!

To suicideneil: you right, it's a 5T

Yes it's a homemade driveshaft with juste a aluminium tube between classic revo shaft and two screw to hold them...

for the hub, i forget to add this pic: (it's just 23mm hub with around 0.4mm plate to add the extra 1mm!

It seems to work very well!!! lool

Neu 1515 2D with 7s2p A123 batterys... tone of power!!
temp motor: ~120-140°
temp mamba: don't really know but the fan never turn!

Ok we are in winter, but it seems really performant!

I have juste some probleme with the front shock oil... front shock really have hard time... (8kg for the complete beast)

Byte 01.16.2010 02:22 PM

Did you made a vid? :)

Looks awesome!

Helly 01.16.2010 04:15 PM

sorry, no vid...

i can't for the moment!

suicideneil 01.16.2010 09:17 PM

Im not suprised the shocks have a hard time- they are tiny compared to the rest of the truck

Looks great though, and good temps- that was 120-140*F, not *C right?

1st time I have seen this done, but I have thought for a while that it would work fine. Just finding stock that is the correct thickness, looks like brass shim stock you are using?

fastbaja5b 01.17.2010 12:14 AM

I don't even think the 0.4mm shims are essential, I have been running a Revo with 23mm hex adapters and HPI Baja front wheels all round geared for 35-40mph and it's been fine. No sign of excess wear on the hubs or rims, and any extra "slop" is negligable.

It's! yes

the 0.4 shims are maybe not essantial but it's very very easy to do... 10min of work and u ll nerver had problems...

Anyone know how to protect electric part? i mean some 1/5 car have protection against dirt like this one:

http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t...o_FG_kompr.jpg

Any good idea?

bigsteel 01.17.2010 06:10 PM

just get some styrene stock and form your own,its easy to do and cheap.--josh

titan 02.04.2010 07:25 AM

Nice to see some ideas like i had.

What shock oil and shock holes (erevo stock?) you used?
Do you use this springs because of me? (i do not know how to write it :D)

Is the frontbumper fixed very strong?
Do you noticed any work of the sway bar against this stiff springs?

Very nice to have somebody with same "vehicle" :)

greets to france
