more ebay madness

a 5t geared for 45mph on 6s with a hobbywing 150a and a feigao 580L.

I'm a funny guy, but even I couldn't come up ith this crap-

http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Electric-...item20ae9429e1

it is a clean conversion, but come on, feigao???????

hootie7159 01.06.2010 11:24 PM

i agree..its looks like a pretty clean conversion....but 6s on the EZrun and 580L motor?!?!?!......it would be a nice "roller" purchase though... :)

Fast5sRevo88 01.07.2010 04:01 PM

Its actually pretty sweet with all that carbon and high dollar aluminum hop-ups, the battery arrangement is also nice, but 6s and a FEIGO (i guess this is how you spell that word that ends with an IT) is a joke. With that hot setup it can go from 0-Shit in about 4.2 seconds!

revo guy 01.07.2010 04:49 PM

LOL just under the list of extras

"As you can see no expense was spared during the build up !."

I guess that dosent include the power system lol

bustitup 01.07.2010 06:06 PM

you guys are nuts that 580 9l Feigao will handle 6s easy ......yes the esc may be questionable

that is an awesome rig and the seller has a great rating

my opinion anyway

I sure hope you are bullshitting me:oops:.

bustitup 01.07.2010 06:08 PM

on second thought that truck is big enough to mod a radiator (with fan) and small water pump to cool the esc and motor...plus that would be trick to see set up

Fast5sRevo88 01.07.2010 06:11 PM

And u can drain the water from the cooling system and boil eggs after you run it:yes:.

Bondonutz 01.07.2010 06:24 PM

Everything looks pretty dang good except the Motor/ESC choice, even running on 6s is questionable.

Motor Specs:
12-32 NiMh or 4s to 8s Lipo cells in a 30"- 40" mono or hydro.
1400 - 1800 Watts Maximum with proper cooling.
45mm Diameter x 76mm long
5mm Output Shaft for use with 5mm Couplers.
25mm Mounting Hole Spacing. Uses 3mm screws.
545 grams
Recommended rpm range 25k - 35k RPM.
2-Pole Neo Magnets & Compressed Windings

Kcaz25 01.07.2010 06:33 PM

I mean it weighs 30lbs at least right? Maybe you could pull it off with an MMM and a 1520 1800kv geared for 40mph-35 on 6s with mild break setup... like 20% brake 100% punch control and timing at 0. The upcoming HVMMM would be more decent lol with a Plettenberg Bolido!

it's not that the motor can't handle 6s, that's no problem, it's that the motor isn't big enough to push that heavy of a vehicle, it will pull too many amps and fry the esc. A higher voltage setup and larger motor are required to get reliable performance out of something that size.

And it's not even an hpi it's a knock off.

Buy one and tell us how it does:whistle:

suicideneil 01.07.2010 09:43 PM

The 580 motor is a pile of junk- as tested by a couple RCM members who said they burnt up after only a couple runs, in a mild setup. Its a feigao afterall

I'd stick a nice fat 1717 in there and a 200amp hobbycity HV boat/plane esc, then use mech brakes = made of win.

jhautz 01.07.2010 09:45 PM

It's not even a real hpi Baja. It's a chineese knock off for $1700? I'll pass.

Bondonutz 01.07.2010 09:48 PM

I emailed them with a Q and heres the response

Dear wangan9,

Hi,

Awesome build, but I'm concerned the Motor and ESC are not up to the task of pushing all that weight around efficently ? Have you tested this set up in a 25+lb RC ?

Thanks
J.M.
bondonutz

Dear bondonutz,

Hi, yes we built another one identical to this one for another customer and it worked great. The motor's low kv is enough to move this baja and top speed is over 50mph on the supplied battery. Thanks.

- wangan9 Did this answer your question? If not, let the seller know.

I dunno how they managed to make it work in such a heavy vehicle, but I fried one of them 580L motors with higher voltage (lower kv) and only ~15lbs and center diff 4wd. A Neu 1521 took its place and fares much better.

Nothing against the 1717 but it is not enough motor. I have one in my lst. Good for a heavy/big MT but not enough for 1/5 scale.

I would say a 1527 would be the best bet, save for going to the 22 series neu. I doubt that 580 is any more capable than a 1521 plus it is less effecient. My 5th scale savage build will use a 1527 2y on 10s lipo. But that truck will be quite a bit lighter than a baja 5t. The chassis has to be heavy to deal with the bif gas motor, that bugger is heavy. I had planned to run a pair of 1521 motors in my 5b, but sold it as I just do not like 2wd.

A 1521 is a good motor. Moves my muggy around great! I have my doubts about the feigao motors, maybe good for 30k max rpms and water cooling. I do not think the magnet assys can handle higher rpms. I still like the kb45 motors better, and they are cheaper.

bustitup 01.08.2010 11:03 AM

perfect motor for that truck would be the Scorpion 4035-800 outrunner on 10s

very very reasonable and more torque than most Neu motors at 1/3 the price

suicideneil 01.08.2010 08:53 PM

Whats the CC motor bigger than the 1717 again? 2050 or something- that would be the ticket I guess

shaunjohnson 01.08.2010 09:29 PM

this guy sounds like one of the noobs who dosent know he's a noob
