How well do the flux shocks hold up?
Was wondering if these shocks will hold up to some abuse. I figure the flux is pretty hardcore stock, so the shocks should take a beating? Just looking for some experienced users to comment.
|
I have them on my nitro Savage XL that I'm going to use as the base for the 5T conversion. Work pretty well, same as the Savage Big Bores but not aluminum bodies.

They are a bit soft - but long travel. Definitley a bashing shock as opposed to a track set up. I never did check to see if there were different springs available for them.
|
Both the Flux and Big Bore shocks use Hellfire shock springs. I don't know that there are any other springs for the upper springs though.

Holding up just fine here, and they have seen some abuse. For larger jumps the oil is a bit thin though.
|
no issues at all, and 60wt AE oil is way better for me
|
Sounds good, just making sure I was not going to buy a leaky weak shock!
|
Well the upside is that they are fairly cheap so if one breaks... :)

I broke quite a few shock shafts, right at the rod end. I put the alum. big bores on with the TI coated shafts but have yet to really bash it hard enough to judge. I assume this is not going on a savage, but if I were to upgrade the shocks again I think I would go with the standard 8 shocks, because just one big bore always bends the damn bolt through the shock tower.

i have to agree with slowcrawl.
mine leak a little, but they are nice and smooth. much smoother than the older savage shocks. i ended up taking 4 shocks from my parts truck (started as a BL conversion attempt) and put them on the rear. so now i have running 6 shocks. 2 flux shocks in front and 4 nitro shocks in back. i have also had the shock tower screws bend with only 1 shock in each corner. |
Good info!
Are the 8t rear shocks as long as savage shocks? Just wondering, I can't imagine that they are that long... |
No they aren't. I have a 8T and a Flux, the Flux shocks are much longer. I can get you exact measurement's tomorrow if you want.
|
Is this going in that big truck you're building? If so, you should try Baja front shocks, that would be awesome
|
I think bending the bolt through the shock tower is the biggest issue.

Here you go

Huge difference... I will stick with savvy shocks. I have a few std nitro shocks and can use them for mock up when the time comes.
