My was I excited when I saw the thread title, more so when you had a link. Now I'm terribly disappointed, wow Xray, you've put a Losi conversion kit on an 808, congratulations...

fkadir 02.04.2010 06:08 AM

I want one! :)

Our prayers have been answered: 808E

Having already published the press releases of the company’s new products we all know what to expect on the Xray stand this year. We asked further regarding the 808E brushless 1/8th scale and were told that they are still currently testing configurations of the layout of the electrics in the car. As you can see in the photos, there is a version that has the receiver mounted forward together with a stand up steering servo, but they are also trying a version with a lay down steering servo and receiver mounted in the center. The weight balance is so critical with the brushless cars and this is something Xray have spent a lot of time trying to get right in order for it to fly straight and even. The 808E also has its own specific chassis plate which sees all the gas related mounting holes removed. Finally the car will not use a mechanical brake but will plan on offering a slipper diff as an option in the future.

not impressed at all.... I thought xray would atleast offer something better than a crap concoversion even the radio box looks silly.

I know for damn sure when i enter big races I'm putting down Rc-Monster 808 and not xray 808e. What a disgrace.

George16 02.04.2010 09:32 AM

I'd rather convert a 2010 spec 808 than this truck.

magman 02.04.2010 10:08 AM

drool, drool , drool. Finally!

magman 02.04.2010 10:09 AM

I will be that is has a $ 600+ price tag knowing x-ray

rootar 02.04.2010 10:21 AM

doesnt even look like xray quality.... im still dissappointed big time.

gixxer 02.04.2010 10:27 AM

What I find really funny is the futaba 3003 servo in there. :surprised:

bruce750i 02.04.2010 10:33 AM

I like the sexy fish net stocking look of the lipos!

lutach 02.04.2010 10:34 AM

Slipper diff as an option in the future. If that is true, Mike will be very busy.

i thought all the electronics were a joke:lol:

It doesnt look like the final design is complete yet.

It says here that there are still 2 designs in testing. Pictures of both layouts too.

Threads merged

It looks like the main difference between the two is the servo position. The receiver box looks the same, just different mounting. I like the vertical servo option with the receiver box next to it. Mikes motor mount and battery box look 100000000x better than the xray ones.

jhautz 02.05.2010 12:54 PM

Center diff and motor is moved way to the back of the chassis in the one with the lay down servo. The one with the stand up servo has the center diff in the stock nitro position it appears.

That is the really big difference in the 2 layouts. Probably totally changes the weight balance of the car.

feistyacorn 02.05.2010 01:03 PM

I didnt realize that they pushed the motor that for back! Crazy angle pictures mess with me!

rootar 02.05.2010 05:31 PM

i hope neither go to production

George16 02.05.2010 05:47 PM

So Ross, is it still better to just convert one using Mike's kit?

(:DK 02.26.2010 03:44 PM

I quite like the servo laydown version, however that motor mount would have to be replaced by mike's. The tray however seems quite light though.

rootar 02.26.2010 04:43 PM

convert hands down at this stage in the game. im not even running a newer 808 (09 or 10 spec) and its perfect with mike's kit. 1512 3d, 5s 3300vx pack and MMM and its awesome ultra light, easy to work on, easy to clean and easy to drive.
