Important : emaxx qUSTION

this has happend with BOTH of my emaxxes but this one is a little different. When i give it gas my motors an spur spin as well as the driveshafts. but the wheels are spuinning ULTA slow even at WOT. does this mean i need to fricken rebuild my diffs?

Serum 03.18.2006 01:28 PM

Might be the shafts to the diffs that went bad.

Can you hear a mechinical incorrect noise?

HotnCold 03.18.2006 01:37 PM

check the hexes ( in the rims ) and the pins in the hexes - something to check ...

coolhandcountry 03.18.2006 02:05 PM

It sounds like a problem. Does the drive shafts spin real fast? Is the slipper to loose or burnt out to?

maxxdude1234 03.18.2006 02:50 PM

Most probably a drive pin missing from either the hexes or from the cvd's. Could also be sheared screws in the diff.

Sylvester 03.18.2006 03:00 PM

Maybe the trannys pin snapped off a couple of places to check .

toby 03.18.2006 04:33 PM

okay so i checked the grub screws on the center shafts. and everything seems to be working. I was driving with stock everything except 14 cells and than it started slipping. and now it wont move at all. this EXACT thinghappend to both of my emaxxes. Someone PLEase tell me what the heck is going on

coolhandcountry 03.18.2006 05:21 PM

It will move under it's own power. It is not as fast as it should be. Is the wheel drive working? If you pic it up and try to turn the front wheel while back is on the ground what happens? How tight and what kind of slipper are you running?

toby 03.18.2006 07:33 PM

i am running a mod1 setp on it wtih a 7xl.
well my front left wheel spins and NOTHING happens when i spin it. when i spin my front right one my two front wheels spin and it spins SUPER easy. and now it wont move at all when it is on the ground

coolhandcountry 03.18.2006 07:47 PM

When you spin the wheel does the axles turn. check the hexes to. You may have busted the diff gears.

toby 03.18.2006 07:59 PM

it has the 8 spider so i doubt that. this happend when i was runnign stock everything to. I put my front wheels on the ground and spu nthe rear wheels. my right rear wheel does nothing just liekthe front left and when i spin the other it spins with no force of it trying to move forwards

coolhandcountry 03.18.2006 08:09 PM

Did the cvd move or spin? What about the center shafts? Did you take the wheels off to check hexes? Check your pins for cvds as well.

toby 03.18.2006 08:11 PM

I will check the hexes. this is really enraging me. What can i do to make my transmission bullet proof?

toby 03.18.2006 08:17 PM

i need some fricken help locally with this but my LHS owner is a dink and charges to much. and i am getting pissed cause all my dawmn RC's are broken and i don't even get to fricken drive them.

Sylvester 03.18.2006 08:25 PM

Chill out , take apart your tranny, and please post back. If there is a problem, it could be your idler gears, so just check the tranny.

coolhandcountry 03.18.2006 08:26 PM

Easy toby. I wish you was closer I would help. I trying to help you now. It sounds as if you hexes have stripped or busted a pin or something simple. Just relax and take it one step at a time. Start at your tire and work to your trans and spur. If you can spin the tire and no shaft turns it is between the two. don't get in a hurry and skip stuff. When you spin your turns can you grab and hold the cvd or shaft to the tire from the diff?

toby 03.18.2006 08:41 PM

I don't knwo what to look for in the transmission though. i have no exploded view or anything

Sylvester 03.18.2006 08:44 PM

Just open it up, and take a pic, maybe some of us can find the problem. But check all 4 wheel hexes just to be sure all pins are in there and are not stripped.

toby 03.18.2006 08:50 PM

the pins are broken into three piece on two of the three i have checked so far. is that possible to make the truck not move? the third wheel i am going to struggle with a bit to take off though

Sylvester 03.18.2006 08:52 PM

yes, you have to replace the pins or else your bummed.

coolhandcountry 03.18.2006 09:17 PM

That is your problem toby. The pins make the wheels spin. no pins no wheel spin.

Sylvester 03.18.2006 09:19 PM

And thats that:)

toby 03.18.2006 09:34 PM

it bubbled my aluminum hex. but the problem is fixed, and my speed control makes kind of a sound of a toy gun when it goes slow

toby 03.18.2006 09:40 PM

the truck moves now but it is still SUPER slow. something is still not engaging right. this truck should flip on it's lid and i can keep up with it running. so next is to take apart the tansmission i guess?

Sylvester 03.18.2006 09:46 PM

Correct, show us some pics of everything.

coolhandcountry 03.18.2006 10:09 PM

Make sure you slipper is not broke or to loose. Hold the spur or wheel and try to turn the other. Watch and see what is moving and what is not.

Serum 03.19.2006 02:58 AM

Simple take your time to analyse this.

You should be able to do it, you know, the solution to this problem can't be that hard to find.

HotnCold 03.19.2006 07:47 AM

It can only be in a couple of things. If the wheel hexes are alright now - and the spur gear is ok ( and the slipper pegs are still there and not burned flat from slipping )and your sure that the 8 spyders are fine - then your in the tranny is what it sounds like - snap a pic and get it posted and go from there.

toby 03.19.2006 08:50 AM

i have not checked the 8 spider. that is what i need to do today. How tight do you tighten these things? i am curious beacuse i have only built my predatore diffs and my rc18mt diffs.

If i hold the truck in the air and pin the throttle slowly i can get tire expansion on my revo tires/rims. but when it is on the ground and i pin it everything spins except my driveshafts going to the wheels.

I think my diffs are to loose or out of lubrication

coolhandcountry 03.19.2006 09:50 AM

Is the set screws tight on the pinion and trans for center shafts? If not it sounds like a diff problem.

toby 03.19.2006 09:51 AM

the "grub" screw on the dogbone holders for the center shafts are both sup[er tight and same with the pinion

HotnCold 03.19.2006 09:51 AM

im leaning towards slipper pegs - when its in the air you can get the tires to balloon - when on the ground no - are you sure that the pegs on the slipper are ok?

coolhandcountry 03.19.2006 10:35 AM

This is a problem I have incountered. If you put the truck on the floor can you turn the spur by hand with out truck moving? If so what turns and what don't. Check and make sure you did not shear the pegs on the pressure plate. If you did it will slip. It is not the slipper is bad but the pressure plates them selves.

toby 03.19.2006 06:47 PM

guys guys guys....

i have been running the truck all damn day LOL. i dunn owhat the problem was. i took abart my ear end and opened the diff case and than put everything back together and it runs AMAZING. 7xl and 21020 on 14 cells is nuts. i cannot wait to drop 16 cells in it.

My motor seems to be geetting hot but it might be because it is not getting airflow because my speed control is ontop of it because i have no where to mount it yet. all the weight is on the front of the truck but i can still flip it on it's lid effortlessly.

I broke a gorillamaxx battery strap though. the nut ripped right through the strap. i went head on into wood. nothing happend. i was whipping through the wet field behind my house a WOT as well. this truck is the best!

toby 03.19.2006 07:09 PM

something just hapend guys. i was running it, and it just died. like seriously stopped running . i have NO idea what happend it just died. so i check my batteries and they are still pluged in and everything seemed fine. nothing was hot. any idae what that is?

Superemaxx89 03.19.2006 07:24 PM

loose connection?

toby 03.19.2006 07:26 PM

what do you mean/ everything was the same. but it quit.... maybe it is those batteries?

Sylvester 03.19.2006 07:55 PM

if you have a voltage meter you could check those batts voltages.

HotnCold 03.19.2006 07:59 PM

How is the receiver - or the crystal - do you have another receiver/crystal to try it out - easy way to eliminate these 2 things.....

toby 03.19.2006 08:15 PM

i guess i can check it out. Maybe i will upgrade the radio, which i am saving for an m11 with spektrum but dunno yet for sure.
