XXL LST finally...super slow build!!

So I finally got some progress on my XXL. I got this stuff together around Christmas. Here are some pics in the current stage. I have some different wheel/tires I will soon put on, and a new Boulder Body by proline. I dont know how I am going to like the body though. Anyway....

How bout some specs on what parts you used, both mechanical and electronics?

nitrostarter 02.24.2010 12:30 PM

I agree.

Was this a brand new XXL? if not it looks super clean!

Nice conversion!

brian015 02.24.2010 12:33 PM

Is that the 1520? Looks nice.

That is a 1520. The proportions are correct...

Very nice looking conversion!

bruce750i 02.24.2010 05:00 PM

Very clean indeed.

Urgeoner 02.24.2010 06:10 PM

nice and clean! hows it run?

Desert Rc 02.24.2010 06:46 PM

Sorry guys it was late. Its a new XXL conversion with TDR conversion and the Castle/neu 1520. It was not a difficult conversion its just I work a lot of hours and I really took my time.

I have yet to really run it yet as I have some more plans for it. I can say that just running it around my living room tile I was happier then a 4yr old on christmas morning. I love its size with the huge tires.

Come on now, if you're that excited about it, you could give us some more detail...

Is that the TDR single speed conversion hub?
What spur is that?
5S or 6S?
Gearing?

MikeW 02.24.2010 08:44 PM

It's On 6S, I counted the balance wires XD

I hope that my XXL will look like this in a year or so!

The particulars::lol:

63T Titanium Spur
25T Hardened Pinion
22.2 Volt 4400mah Neu Lipo

Working on a new body as we speak.....its a bit too stock for my taste. In my typical style, when I start to actually run it I will beat the snot out of the stocker stuff body/wheels ect, and have shelfer body/wheels. I wanted to have the body done tonight but its been a slow go of it.

scarletboa 02.25.2010 01:16 AM

we should race your lst against my savage flux over at the silver bowl racetrack (near sam boyd stadium) one weekend. i had my flux there last weekend and for a top-heavy mt, it didn't do half bad.

Desert Rc 02.25.2010 01:42 AM

I was just there yesterday, I was bashing my SCTs around. I like the redesigned track much better then it used to be. On the other hand, This build is just a heavy basher....hopefully its torque-monster.

nice...I like the flat black paint scheme

MikeW 03.01.2010 05:53 PM

OMG please tell me what paint you used

It looks awesome!

Desert Rc 03.01.2010 05:58 PM

ULTRA-Flat camo black paint/KRYLON/ made for glass metal and plastics....no primer needed. I did scuff the heck out of it to make a solid foundation since its on the outside. I want to do another one I have some better plans. Clrome painted on the inside.

Only way to do flat paint on a RC body is on the outside. Kinda sucks, but its what we have....

nitrostarter 03.02.2010 11:11 AM

Petition Proline to use non glossy lexan...

I do agree, the flat black combo looks killer! The body is a tad short tho...

Desert Rc 03.07.2010 01:09 AM

I kinda like the shorter body since the bumper sticks out a bit. I have to say in person it looks pretty decent IMO and I am more then a little particular.

Desert Rc 03.30.2010 12:12 AM

ran this thing tonight for the first time really hard tonight....low low temps on the esc and esp the motor. Tightened down the slipper good and the wheelies were silly back sliding fun. I have to same sure would be nice to have a wheelie bar or just a muggy wing so I dont have to go and flip the biotch every few minutes. But holy heck was that a friggin blast. I have to say one of the most adrenaline pumping fun running rigs I have ever built. Thanks Castle for a excellent motor once again.:party::party:

What's_nitro? 03.30.2010 02:24 AM

Hey what's the name of that body? Looks great on the truck and the flat black/chrome is sweet too!

Desert Rc 03.30.2010 03:33 AM

proline boulder hauler or something

Desert Rc 12.23.2010 03:07 PM

Well that was fun, it snowed for a few days then yesterday it just rained alot. Now its like a big slushy outside. I ran for a bit with the 6s on my xxl and it was a monster. even in the snow it was popping wheelies. After about 10min it stopped and sounded like I lost a pinion...but upon further investigation I melted the slipper. I thought it was kind weird until i picked up the rig and I realized it had to weigh 30-35 lbs. Im not exaggerating. I about shat myself when I picked it up out of shock:gasp:This was not snow it was like a block of ice thru-out the rig and packed into its massive wheels.

It was def fun though, it was spitting like 20 ft roosters of slush!!!

Here is the after math...wish I had someone to take some action shots.

I hope you waterproofed you MMM..........

coolhandcountry 12.24.2010 06:59 AM

I like the body.
Did you do any prep work for the snow electronic wise?

3905er 12.26.2010 06:41 PM

battery tray

Hey Desert sweet truck , Can you give some details on how you mounted your tekno battery tray and what part number it is ?

bigsteel 12.26.2010 07:39 PM

Truck looks sweet, you should try making some wheel scrapers to keep the amount of snow down inside the wheels.--Josh

Desert Rc 12.28.2010 10:40 PM

I waterproofed everything and it was flawless. I let it drip dry and melt away. Kinda funny though...Last time I did go to plug it in and NOTHING, no response whatsoever....my heart skipped a little beat, then I realized that this MMM still has a on/off.

The tekno tray is there standard 1/8 scale tray. Kinda of a biotch with all its straps but very effective....nothing like the sickening feeling watching you rig spit an expensive Lipo out the side. I just drilled holes in the chassis and tray and bolted her up...nothing special or pretty even...just works. Lots of fun and thats why I built this one just to bash the heck out of it.
